Just a reminder, one vote per team. For example, both co-GMs cannot vote... Only one can.
Everything should be tallied up correctly. There were a lot of tie-breakers at the bottom so I just added seven nominations per category so you guys wouldn't ***** as much.indecisivepizza, Finfangirl and ToddPhin like this. -

Man/Woman of the Year
schisnoAshyLarry, GridIronKing34, sports24/7 and 5 others like this. -
As has been the case the past couple years I’ve done this, it’s always hard to narrow a season down to just a couple votes. This year was especially difficult, I thought there were about 6 GMs that could’ve legitimately been considered GM of the Year and maybe another 4 or 5 teams that were close.
GM of the Year
1. Minnesota Vikings. Few GMs have been as consistent as UCFFinFan since I started doing this league a few years back. He always puts together a good team, but I think this year’s group should put him over the edge. He had some pieces to work with – like Bridgewater, Everson Griffin, Floyd and Rhodes, but he did a great job of building around those players through FA, trades and the draft (some bad luck here, but like the overall class). Bridgewater now has some proven targets to throw to in Sanders, Marshall and Thomas, a beefed up offensive line and a deep group of running backs. That defensive line is stout and he could have the best secondary around. This is a team that can compete for the playoffs now and could be a Super Bowl contender in a couple years. Really nice job.
2. Atlanta Falcons
3. Detroit Lions
Future Powerhouse award
Indianapolis Colts. This award, to me, usually goes to someone who revamps a pitiful roster and makes a dud into a possible stud. The Colts had some assets to work with and plenty of cap space starting off, but Todd did a nice job utilizing that. The result was an improved cast around Andrew Luck and a defense that is much deeper and versatile than it was when he took over. The Colts did well with all their draft picks and are very young. Granted, any team that started with Luck would’ve been in contention for this award, but Todd maximized most of his assets and did a good job assembling a team that should make the playoffs regularly for the next 5-7 years, at least.
One and Done award
New York Jets. With the slogan “Championship or Bust”, I think it’s pretty clear to see that the Jets are in win-now mode. As is usually the case for this award, the recipient usually has pieces to build for the future as well (Von Miller, Todd Gurley, etc.) but the overall collection of talent trends towards winning right away before having to revamp some pieces. Specifically, the addition of Peyton Manning – given his age (39) and recent injury issues – and lack of a contingency plan makes me believe the Jets are going all in now. They invested in an elite LT in Joe Thomas to protect Manning, have a trusted target for him in Decker and a strong defense.
Best in trades
New York Jets. In terms of steals, not many can top what the Jets did. The trades for Manning and Von Miller were basically highway robbery. Some other underrated ones (like Whitner and John Greco for Ferguson, and two mid-round picks for Scandrick) made this a pretty easy vote for me.
Best in free agency
Atlanta Falcons. Made some room and ended up getting the best DE and best DB available. Hardy signing was a risk, but that’s a killer DE combo once he returns to the field. Bonus points for the best bidding war in recent memory – and winning it.
Best in draft
Washington Redskins. The Redskins were not very active – thanks for returning all those PMs ;) – all the time, but credit where credit is due. They made value picks just about everywhere on the board and set the franchise up for a bright future. Even a guy that didn’t represent a ton of value based on real draft position – Rashad Greene – was a nice pickup. Perriman in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] was clutch.
Best offensive weapons
Pass.
Best offensive line
Tennessee Titans. Don’t get me wrong, the Dallas Cowboys already had a top line in place, but what Tennessee did was miraculous. Titans stole Castanzo away from Indy, and then added one of the best Cs in free agency and Bitino. Young, already playing at a high level. If Tennessee had a franchise QB this would’ve been my Franchise Powerhouse award winner. Sick group.
Best front seven
Detroit Lions. Man this one was tough, lots to pick from (Tampa Bay was close, as was New England). Ultimately, that front four was too good to overlook.
Best secondary
Atlanta Falcons. It’s hard to vote against Seattle, but the group UCF put together stellar…and young. Harris and Trufant are great, and BB may have been the best rookie corner around last year. Gipson is emerging as a top safety…when Kemal Ishamael is your biggest unknown, you’re doing pretty damn good.
Man/Woman of the Year
IndcesivePizza. Truly, this was tough. Sports247 was another GM who was close here. The Bucs were not an easy team to take over, but IP handled the team well and strengthened a lot of areas. But more importantly, IP was a class act all the way through and fun to work with. Was patient as a trade partner, also explained rationale for making decisions, was prompt in responses…IP is, to me, what the GM league is all about.AshyLarry, PhinishLine, GridIronKing34 and 6 others like this. -

First off, gotta say thanks to everyone involved and a special thanks to Griddles for putting in the work to make sure this thing ran smoothly. These picks were really hard because so many GMs did a fantastic job this year.
GM of the Year
1. Bengals - Did an outstanding job adding talent to take that team over the hump. They are ready to win now and should also have sustained success. Also knew exactly what he wanted in negotiations and was respectful, but stuck to his guns.
2. Patriots - He took the SB champs and made them even better. This team is loaded everywhere.
3. Colts - He took a team with some great pieces and turned them into an all-around great team through some shrewd moves.
Future Powerhouse Award
Minnesota Vikings - The Jaguars and Eagles were right there with them. I really like the Chip Kelly marriage with Mariota, and there is a lot of talent on the Eagles, but the Vikings just have too much young talent on that roster. I see them as a team that should be good in a year or two and stay very good for some time. I also loved so many of the moves the Jaguars made, but ultimately the QB match-up won it for the Vikings.
One and Done Award
New England Patriots - I feel dirty giving this to a team I hate with such a passion, but this team is loaded with great players in their prime. The Falcons were a close second, but there's just too much talent here in New England.
Best in Trades
New England Patriots - I was very close to giving this to the Jets because they made some big trades that made them immediate SB contenders, but landing a high 1st for Garoppolo, and adding elite players like Grimes and Wake to an already stacked team made it too hard to go with anyone else than the Patriots.
Best in Free Agency
Indianapolis Colts - The Ravens were in the race here, but Indy just added so many difference makers. They didn't exactly get a steal on any of these guys, but they cleared enough cap space to be able to add these guys, and who they add is more important to me than how much they add them for.
Best in Draft
Washington Redskins - This was probably the hardest category for me to pick. There were a lot of teams that could have won this award. Ultimately, I really struggled between Oakland and Washington. I really could have flipped a coin. The deciding factor was value, and late round picks. Getting the best offensive lineman at 12, and guys with major upside in Perriman and Thompson where he got them, swayed me. I also don't care that Kevin White and Rakeem Cato didn't get drafted. I like both of them.
Best Offensive Weapons
Abstain
Best Offensive Line
Dallas Cowboys - There were some good candidates here (Pittsburgh and Baltimore stand out), but it's hard to go anywhere other than the Cowboys here. They have elite players at 4 of the 5 starting positions, and a very good player as their 5th along with solid depth.
Best Front Seven
Abstain
Best Secondary
New England Patriots - This was another tough one. The Dolphins secondary with Jones and Revis is very good. It's also hard not to give the best secondary to a team with Sherman, Chancellor, and Thomas on it. But, what side of the field are you going to throw to with Haden on one side and Grimes on the other? Then they have good safeties behind them and solid depth as well.
Man/Woman of the Year
FinFanGirl/vt_dolfan - TONS of good candidates here. I don't know that I have had a better time in any other year with this league and that is due to the respectful negotiations and great banter in here. I could have honestly given this vote to any team I dealt with.AshyLarry, PhinishLine, VanDolPhan and 3 others like this. -

First off, fun year...I always give GIK crap most years but he did a commendable job as Commish this season and kept things running smooth. Props to everyone who stuck with it all year and took the time to thoroughly submit a roster and writeup, the time involved in that alone deserves an applause.
Voting this year was tough, this year you could argue 8-10 diff teams did enough to merit GM of the year. On to the results..
Future Powerhouse - Colts - In a close race the team with the best QB made the decision for me, a solid group of young playmakers for Luck make this team the next "dynasty" of the NFL.
One and Done Award - Jets - They have put their eggs in one basket and are ready to make a run in 2015.
Best in Trades - Bengals - they secured a dominant DL, OL and a franchise QB via trades...that's quite impressive.
Best in FA - Falcons - They were a team in dire need of defensive help and he went out and got it, love the Corey Peters pickup and if Hardy can stay on the field he has a dominant DL.
Best in Draft - Saints - Idc what the plus/minus is with Green-Beckham that's will turn out to be a very good pick, he also picked up two guys who IMO will be very good NFL starters in Goldman and Lott. Good value in most every spot.
Best Weopans - Vikings - This was close, real close...I almost went Detroit here but the differential in RBs as a core was just to significant right now. McKinnon is a budding star and Gore/Ridley will provide great depth, Sanders-Marshall-J.Thomas?? Yikes.
Best OL - Dallas - If the award means what it says then this is a no brainer...that interior OL would get Van himself a 1700 yard season....nasty.
Best Front 7 - Pats - I wanted to give this award to TB because Geno Atkins/McCoy/Clowney is insane, but NE edges (no pun) them out with the destructive combo of Wake/Jones with Shelton keeping Kiko clean?? Not good for the opposition.
Best Secondary - Pats - You can't deny them in this spot IMO...Haden/Grimes is as good a duo you can think up, then was smart enough to hold on to McCourty to make the unit unfairly good.
Man/Woman of year - LeRoy Boss - This guy made a ballsy trade and a lot of us gave him a heaping helping of playful banter for it...and he took in stride never taking it personal and even making jokes about t himself. Easygoing...we need more of it.
GM OF THE YEAR
#3- ATL - An all around solid job, he addressed the major needs of that team and all of a sudden the defense has a chance to be real good for a long time instead of wasting Matt Ryan like Thomas Dimetrioff...he has them ready now and for the next 10yrs.
#2- New England - I'm not sure you could take the SB champs and upgrade them THAT much, the defense is off the charts dominant and Tom Brady is still the QB and with that roster us Phin fans may be sweating another run at our perfect season.
And the winner......
Is..........
The Minnesota Vikings - He took a middle of the road team and turned them into an all around, ready for now and later, deep, playmaking, tough football team. No team IMO improved more than the Vikes with UCF behind the wheel, excellent work top to bottom.GridIronKing34, indecisivepizza, VanDolPhan and 3 others like this. -

So I got a late-night text from Chip last night. Again. "VO" it read. "Are you seeing this bull****? All of these votes and no one likes you. You're ****ing out, and I'm ****ing in."
Chip has always been a man of few words.
So, as suddenly as it had begun, my stewardship of the Philadelphia Eagles has apparently drawn to a close. Before I go though, I wanted to share my thoughts on who I feel deserves special recognition for their contributions to the success of this year's league. If I go on too long, just start playing me off stage. Without further ado ...
- Best General Manager: Just kidding, you are going to have to keep reading. Or skip to the bottom.
- Future Powerhouse Award: Edit, crap, I submitted this and forgot to edit in my pick. Whoops. Anyway, good job Minnesota Vikings, because you did a very good job setting the team up while getting rid of AP.
- One and Done Award: My pick is the New England Patriots. Tom Brady isn't getting any younger, and even though he's most likely missing the first 4 games of next season this is a team built to win right now. The defense is comprised of veterans who are playing at a high level, but may only have a small window. That, to me, is the definition of a one and done.
- Best in Trades: I'm going to go with the Detroit Lions. I liked the way that they exchanged the salary-bloat of Stafford for a reasonable and affordable starting QB. Also I thought it was some good work to bring in plays at impact positions (DE, WR, LB) without having to give up a lot at other impact positions. All of their moves seemed designed to make their team better.
- Best in Free Agency: I actually like what the New York Jets did in free agency, as they didn't go super over-budget but brought in a nice variety of players that should help contribute to their team.
- Best in Draft: I believe that Leonard Williams is the best player in the draft, and that Devante Parker can develop into a very good wide receiver (and, if you're a Dolphins fan, you're hoping that too). Perryman and McKinney are solid at LB, and there's good depth in the rest of the Oakland Raiders draft. Solid across the board. And you did better than Mach could have, so there's that.
- Best Offensive Weapons: I was all set to vote for the Eagles, but since Chip fired me I guess I no longer have to be organizationally loyal. For me this was a tossup between Cincy and Detroit, with the Cincinnati Bengals edging things out by just a little bit, as I like Jeremy Hill and Woodhead out of the backfield.
- Best Offensive Line: Kind of a tough call here, as liked what the Ravens did, although I am not sold on Wisiniewski (I think there may be some undisclosed injury there.) Pittsburg was also in the mix, as was Cincinnati and Cleveland. The AFC North: Home of very good offensive lines. At the end of the day though, the Dallas Cowboys added one of the best guards in the NFL to an already stacked offensive line. Plus, Van didn't quote PFF once in his final write-up. That has to count for something.
- Best Front Seven: It's hard to grade this one. If you grade on past production, you're looking at teams like the Pats and Lions. If you're looking at future potential teams like the Bucs and Bills have to be in the conversation as well. I give the slightest advantage to the New England Patriots, as they have incredible depth at the defensive line position and lots of flexibility in the front 7, which I really like. This was very close though.
- Best Secondary: It's hard to argue with what the Minnesota Vikings did, as they have great depth and youth at all of the spots in the secondary.
This was another one that was very close.
Seattle Seahawks - Man/Woman of the Year: This one is pretty tough to decide on (and I'm not voting for myself - it was an honor just to be nominated, blah, blah, blah). I'll go with the combo of FFG/VT, as we pulled off numerous deals throughout the process and they were great to work with. Plus I'm still mad at Schisno about Chris Canty. And Ryan Khalil. And countless others that I am sure I'm forgetting.
So there you go. Now I'm off to have a beer or 6, and hopefully work on finding a new GML gig.
Wait. Oh yeah. GM of the Year. I guess I should do that too.
- Jacksonville Jaguars: Had probably the farthest distance to travel to respectability and they did a very good job. They were engaged for the entire process and didn't get involved in some of the DRAMA that this league seems to produce each year.
- Buffalo Bills: High-effort, low-ceiling GM that always gives 110%. Sort of like that collegiate walk-on that finally gets on the field with 2 minutes left to play. That's got to be good enough for second place.
- New England Patriots: Having to be the commissioner of the league while also taking on the most despised of sports franchises? Not sure if Griddles is ******ed, or just a masochist. Here's your participation ribbon Mat. You're welcome.
Okay. Now I'm out of here. I've got beer to drink.GridIronKing34, Finfangirl, indecisivepizza and 3 others like this. -
I only see 2 teams that probably got worse so good job this year everyone.

GM Of The Year
1. Minnesota
2. New England
3. Tampa Bay
Future Powerhouse
Minnesota - One of the most stacked rosters from top to bottom and a lot of youth. Teddy B is an absolute stud to build around.
One And Done
Tampa Bay - Trying to win now with Cutler, Mankins, Lofton, Talib, etc.
Best In Trades
New England - Lots of great value in these trades, especially that Revis deal.
Best In Free Agency
Pittsburgh - Very under the radar acquisitions that I appreciated especially Cromartie (we gave Thurmond 6 mil to be a SCB) and Selvie.
Best In Draft
Dallas - Steals here, there, and everywhere including a few BKs (for me at least).
Best Offensive Weapons
Minnesota - Although they lack a true no. 1 RB, they have good depth and fantastic receivers for Teddy to toss the ball to.
Best Offensive Line
Tennessee - Loaded from top to bottom and with impressive depth. Really like the Bitonio steal.
Best Front Seven
Detroit - Dumervil is a hugely slept on acquisition making a deadly DL even scarier.
Best Secondary
Atlanta - 3 no.1 caliber CBs on one squad? Plus the 24 million dollar man? Damn.

GM Of The Year
1. BuckeyeKing - Miami Dolphins
Gonna give Buckeye some love here because he had some of the most difficulties among the GMs. Typically Dolphins players are easy to move, but there was a lot of resistance. BK soldiered on and did a good job upgrading a lot of positions. I think there’s a glaring omission in Man of the Year without BK’s name. He adds a lot to the league with his activity and with his draft grades. A+ for every faucet of the game for this guy.
2. GridIronKing34 - New England Patriots
Pretty much a 1b to BK’s 1a, look at all the categories the Patriots are near the top of close to winning. If you’re in the top 2/3 in most of those categories you’ve “won” the league in terms of play.
3. Leroy Boss - Chicago Bears
Had his own vision, loved HIS players and stuck to his gun. Kid can roll with the punches with the best of them. Solid effort, with risk taking and possible high gains.
Future Power
Philadelphia Eagles
I’ve got him with the best weapons in terms of key players and depth, the only problem is Mariota is a rookie and will keep his team back for a season or two. After that time his young players will come of age and the veterans should make this team even more competitive in that time.
One and Done
New England Patriots
Tom Brady makes or breaks this team, so if he’s out for any significant amount of time he’s got no fall back option. A project starter in Hundley is years away from being ready, and even his young guys have injury issues, he’s really only got a small window unlike other teams. Same can be said for the Jets, but Manning showed more of a decline last season to even make us believe that team has the same chance as the Patriots.
Best In Trades
New England Patriots
Clearly won most of his trades with the Jimmy G trade coming to mind. Knew how to maximize the values on the pieces he trade away while bringing in some very productive players.
Best In FA
Atlanta Falcons
It was between the Colts and Falcons, but Atlanta bested Indianapolis in the public battles we’ve seen.
Best In Draft
Oakland Raiders
Drafted very solid players and most of the prospects he grabbed would have been on my list if I drafted in the early rounds.
Offensive Weapons
Philadelphia Eagles
The weapons at the Eagles disposal are both significant and deep. There’s a good mix of youth and veteran players and there isn’t really any repetition in terms of the same types of player, most could be fit into special roles behind the starters.
Offensive Line
Pittsburgh Steelers
Some love to the Steelers who have a solid oline with their starters and depth.
Front Seven
New England Patriots
Everything got upgraded and the defensive line should be able to wreck a lot of havoc on Olines everywhere. Kiko can be a huge difference maker, but he needs to stay healthy.
Secondary
Minnesota Vikings
Upgraded where he had to and each position has plenty of depth. Real tough group to throw on. Seattle retains his key players but Vikings get the nod for bringing in key players like Kareem Jackson and TJ Ward.
Man/Woman of the Year
Philadelphia Eagles (Vengeful Odin)
When I think of Man of the Year I look at contributions outside of the normal gameplay and how it makes the league better. I may do stats but so does V/O and he offers a lot of insight and league history as much as any other player.
If I was to subtract GMs from the list I know VO would be one of THE guys I know aren’t there if he wasn’t a part of it. As a whole the league isn’t the same without him as he is a positive and veteran presence. I will never have a negative thing to say about him and he knows everything done in the GML is just game related.BuckeyeKing, Paul 13, Skull Destroyer and 2 others like this. -
