IDK, not trying to start a crap storm, I also think persistent rumors from inside the NFL type have some basis in fact:
-Tuna checks out, takes a swipe at Henne
-Mortenson reports a move could be made
-Florio reports inside the locker room types expect a change.
As was said in The Usual Suspects, a rumor isn't a rumor that doesn't die.:wink2:

I do not understand. Is Pennington supposed to start the rest of the season and then Thigpen starts next year?

if they are going to do it, do it now. dont wait for the titans game. we actually have a chance, although not a great one, at the playoffs now. if we lose to the titans, are chances are basically zero.

Actually, you are trying to start a crap storm... All you've done lately is bash Henne. This would be a BAD move.
-
I would hope the staff wouldn't do that. The odds are against making the playoffs even if Pennington does provide a spark, and Sparano's job realistically isn't in the kind of danger where he would really be pressured to do that?
I would like to see Tyler Thigpen get a shot if it came down to it, though.djphinfan likes this. -
I like Chad Henne. I REALLY hope he's the guy. I am also trying to be as patient as possible.
That said, if he's not the guy, the Dolphins wasted a year of Chad Pennington's career. That's going to make me mad for a long time. Especially if he ends up doing anything the last few years of his career.
A 2008 a Chad would have the Dolphins at 5-3 IMO.
That said, if we don't stick with Henne, and all of a sudden around 28 or so he really starts to get it Dolphins fans are going to be devastated that we were the team that developed him to where he was (a good/great QB for another team)
You gotta stick with Henne.DolfanTom likes this. -
If this is true it just goes to show that this team has no direction, it is like they are playing plug and pray.

Thigpen led offense have scored a lot of touchdowns. -
Still, point taken, I'd like to see him try a little more, especially w/ BM. -

This is total Florio bullshiit.
Pennington's arm is dead. We stand no chance with him coming in there now besides the only way in hell they will make a switch is during a game if they have too.
This put Pennington in nonsense is getting ridiculous.SICK likes this. -
Right now Henne is not leading the offense into points. He hasn't showed much improvement over last season.
I am waiting for Henne to show me that he can be a good starter in this league. So far he hasn't shown that much. I am losing faith in him -

As for this move, my point is NOT "Pennington should START!! NOW!!"
My point is these rumors have persisted with important names attached to them, these guys do not risk their reputations so easily. Why would Florio recycle a month old story unless there were a basis to do so?
I can think of no reason to do so, Dolphins rumors do not generate that many webhits, so even base commerce makes no sense, thusly imo he is working off of some source of dubious, but potentially accurate information. -
I would rather Henne improve and show he can be a starter -
I can't say if he's just throwing anything against the wall to see if it'll stick or not, but I can say that Henne having another game like he did last Sunday would make for a really ugly day in the papers.

I'm not even going to compare the garbage time Thigpen got in Pittsburgh to what Chad gets.
In 2007 Thigpen played in 14 games (played in the majority of at least 12), threw 420 passes, and as a team they had 35 pass plays over 20 yds (at least 4 plays weren't Thigpen's). So I'll say he had 31 20+ yd pass plays in 420 attempts. At best, 7.4% of Thigpen's passes resulted in 20+ yd plays.
This year Henne in 8 games, has 277 attempts, and has 21 pass plays of 20+ yds. That means 7.6% od Chad's passes result in pass plays of 20+ yds.
Aside from that, Henne is averaging 6.9yds per attempt and 10.8 yds per completion. Thigpen averaged 6.2 ypa and 11.3 ypc. So Thigpen's "downfield perversion" netted him slightly less yds per pass and slightly more yds per completion. Hardly anything to justify Henne's "aversion" to throwing downfield vs Thigpen.SICK likes this. -
Well, all I am saying is do not be surprised if a move is made, Henne is taking first team reps at practice today so clearly no move has been made, however do not be shocked if after the Bears game, if we lose those two games, if Henne doesn't show growth a move could/will be made per Florio and the NFL chattering class.

Penny is starting, I guess it's no rumor.

Run? Absolutely not.
But he can sure as hell stop calling play-action-passes on 3rd and long. That would be nice. -
