Fine. Im one of the biggest supporters of Tannehill there is here, but Im willing to agree we move on..if you can present a better alternative. We have to decide on picking up his option in May.
Youve seen him play. You know whos available in the draft. You know whos going to be a FA.
Your the GM. Its all on you. Whats your plan to improve on the single most important position that can either keep this franchise from becomming relevant..or take us to the top. Its easy to say move on...now tell us how to fix it?

He's simply still better than any QB we've had since Dan...And don't give me the Pennington parlay, either. We set an NFL record of fewest turnovers that year.
I've never really viewed Tannehill as the problemDucken, Larryfinfan, mullingan and 2 others like this. -
Rilla, how come you didn't respond in the other thread, whats up with the helter skelter chicks in the sig?
sorry Vt, its been driven me crazy..
you make a good point, as far as free agents none, as far as the draft, gonna let him play out the season and see where were at, then study the heck out of the rooks comin out, gotta see where ryan is at the end of the year, see where his game is, see what were gonna do about picking up his option, only time will tell, theres really no rush, he played the best half of football I've seen from him in his pro career so lets see where he goes with it, remember, the evaluation is about can he get his game to the level of winning playoff style intensity games on the road..
i already can't wait til sunday to see if what i saw is what he felt in his mind..Fin-Omenal and DolfanTom like this. -

In reality....our future is more on, what kind of QB do we have with 17, then are we in the playoffs.
Balance everything..dont just say..hes the one..or hes not the one. What is the cost to replace him...thats the true value this season -

If Harbaugh comes here, we can bet our sweet asses he's not getting rid of Tannehill. In fact, he probably thinks he can make him great.

The team is in the bottom five of the league in most passing catagories, so I understand that there's a problem.
That being said, he's under (guaranteed) contract for next season. Unless you fancy Jake Locker and Christian Ponder, there's unlikely to be any options in free agency. I don't like what I see available in the draft.
Let him roll for one season with the new coach and new OC and see how it plays out. If he's good, we'll owe him more than what the option would have been, but it will be worth it. If not, we move on, likely in the 2016 draft.MAFishFan likes this. -

I've seen a few prospect draft QBs that look great, with flaws of course, nobody's perfect (and there's no Luck this year IMHO), and they won't go high. There's a fair bit of talent at QB in this upcoming draft, if developmental. We have to bring in at least one young guy to push, but I fully expect RT to be here next year. I also say they'll pick up his option, since it's a gamble to let it roll with no up-and-comer pushing the decision (unless, of course, they get a racehorse in the draft...but that's still a gamble, unless they want to suck it up a year or two).

He played nearly perfect in the 2nd half of the Green Bay game. That makes me want to see more of him.

That said, I don't think it would stop Harbaugh, nor should it, from drafting or bringing in other talent to compete with Tannehill though. Someone like a Matt Barkley just strikes me as low hanging fruit as far as a trade goes, and there's a few QBs becoming free agents that I wouldn't mind seeing brought in with the likes of T.J. Yates, Ryan Mallet, and you know Harbaugh's going to bring his boy Josh Johnson along.
Defensively, especially if he were to bring Vic Fangio along, you've got a number of guys who will mesh well in his scheme. Up front you have Mitchell, Starks and Odrick (if re-signed); that's your front 3 right there. You've also got guys like Anthony Johnson and Deandre Coleman who have experience in odd fronts, plus I think he'd see a Demarcus Dobbs type player in either Derrick Shelby or Terrence Fede; maybe both.
You've got 3 OLB players in Wake, Vernon and Jordan. To me, it smacks of San Francisco in Aldon Smith's rookie year. You've got a stud player outside in Wake, a good one in Vernon, and you can take your time developing Dion Jordan into Wake's replacement while still getting him on the field as a sub package guy - remember Aldon Smith had like 14 sacks as a rookie simply playing 3rd downs and nickel/dime defense for them. You also have Chris McCain to develop there. Inside you have Jenkins, Misi and Tripp to start. I think you need a Brandon Spikes guy there still, but that's relatively easy to find.
In the secondary you have Reshad Jones who I think fits that 9ers style of D. Obviously he's familiar with Michael Thomas and I think Walt Aikens has looked intriguing in limited action. Really, the rub comes to CB. Harbaugh's got pretty strict standards as to what he looks for and none of Miami's CBs fit that bill IMO.
Sorry to extrapolate on that as I know this is related to Tannehill, but that's my interest in the grand scheme of how Harbaugh would fit here. -

The whole first half/second half thing is something that really seems to have affected the entire offense. Our running game has been bad in some first halves, too. I don't know what it is, but at this point I'm honestly more apt to believe that it is a coaching problem having to do with players and play-caller being unprepared for what they're likely to see and needing time to adjust to it.

It doesnt have to be Harbaugh. Could be any coach not to stubborn to allow our OC to call plays that fits Tannehills strengths.
-
Meh we could just as easily put the ball in Moore's hands and wouldn't lose anything.. until we can find/develop a franchise QB. Either one of them is just a stop gap and are interchangeable as far as I'm concerned.
At least Moore could hit Wallace in stride on the deep ball. Cannehill's accuracy beyond 10-15 yards is just embarrassing. -

I'd prefer a QB that isn't a sociopath. Dude keeps bringing trouble to himself and others without showing the ability to learn from his mistakes. With all the off-field stuff Miami has been involved with recently I doubt Ross would sign off on us taking the controversial Winston.
All that being said, I absolutely love him as a prospect. If he had the same work ethic as Mariota then I'd put him close to being up there with Luck, but he isn't there. Mariota added 40 pounds of muscle in the offseason whereas Winston added 40 pounds of gummy worms to his gut.unluckyluciano and brandon27 like this. -
He had a better season in 2011 with Miami than Cannehill has ever had. -
I like Brett Hundley , and he is more likely to be there when we pick. He has a lot of upside, good grooming qb.
I don't see Mariota or Winston being there when we pick, unless we **** the bed the rest of the season. -

you guys do remember that in drafting 17 he was, as the experts say, a project that would take 3-5 years to develop... But hey screw them right, he should be peyton manning already right? add in learning a new playbook this year, which it has been stated it takes about 8 weeks for the playbook and offense to even start clicking... ya'll need to calm down. it could be worse. it could be pat white back there.

1.) Brings a BB gun on campus
2.) Rape allegations (which has the school and FSU police in trouble for the way they handled it)
3.) Standing on the table and screaming, "F@#$ her right in the P$#$%"
4.) Lying about incident #3, causing him to get suspended from a game
5.) Dressing up for the game that he was suspended from in warm ups (Jimbo was pissed at him for this)
6.) Now we have the signature for money situation about to hit the fan
I understand he is 20, but that doesn't relieve my fears of his off the field issues. Again, on the field I am a huge fan of Winston I like him a lot more than Mariota, BUT I am truly scared about him as a prospect due to his track record. With the NFL cracking down on off-the-field incidents you have to really know what you are getting yourself into. I can pretty much guarantee that at some point in his NFL career Winston will be suspended for multiple games. Also while Winston has a crazy high ceiling I am not sure if he will ever reach it.Ludacris, unluckyluciano and brandon27 like this. -
Jamarcus Russell had the same incredible upside and terrible work ethic...
Giving millions of $$$, the ego that comes with a first round pick, and the media craze that would come with Winston going to Miami... doesn't seem like a recipe for him to mature into the new face of the franchise any time soon.
Facing the facts, this isn't the year to try and replace Tannehill. Mariota is trash (I can't believe he's in the conversation for top 5 pick), and Winston wayyyyy more risk than reward. You get a stud LB, S, and a TE this offseason and you focus on the 2016 Draft for another QB (Kenny Hill or Jared Goff maybe?)Ohio Fanatic likes this. -

He's got some serious problems, and some serious growing up to do before I'd do whatever it takes. I'm not disputing his talent, I'm disputing the notion of selling the farm and doing whatever it takes to get a guy who right now... is a problem child. Key word being child. -

If Jameis fell to us Id take him..but to big a behavior risk to trade the farm to go up. Plus..I think hell finish his senior season
