this is really shocking. i didnt even know he had cancer.
I hate to think about it ,but how does this now affect the labor talks? i cant imagine its good as finding his successor and etc will take time and may negate any progress made ,but he was a big opponet of rookie pay scales and a salary cap i believe.does this now change the unions direction? -

I didn't know he had cancer either.
RIP -
Man, no wonder he wouldn't willingly step down and thought people were trying to oust him.

RIP Upshaw.

RIP Gene.
I always respected you as both on the field and off. -
RIP Gene. Pancreatic cancer is what killed my stepdad-it is a nasty, fast-moving, aggressive form of cancer. Pretty much once you are diagnosed, you need to make final arrangements because you don't have long. Less than 1% remission/survival rate with that particular cancer.
I feel for his family, it's a very tough road. -
Stunned as this popped up on Yahoo Sports.
R.I.P. -
So I know what his family is going through...RIP Gene. -
R.I.P Gene.
