Cool that Thomas is coming out. Frankly, he is my favorite WR in this draft... yes ahead of Dez. I believe that while Thomas is not as refined as Dez he has better long term potential.

 

Any time I see a receiver playing that physically, they're going to get me misty. That's why I adored Hakeem Nicks so much,

But Demaryius Thomas makes Hakeem Nicks look like DeSean Jackson. That's a problem for me.

 

I just watched thomas on you tube.He reminds me of brandon marshall.I wonder how high in the draft he will go?

He means speed. It's the only reason he's not a projected 1st rounder IMO. I think he's in the 4.57 range from what I've seen.

Dez bryant projected 40 time is 4.57 and everybody seems to be high on him.

 

If Dez runs that speed it will hurt him on many boards.

Where Dez differs from Thomas though is that Dez didn't play in an offense that runs 90% of the time, so people actually expected him to get the ball frequently (and he still produced).

Calvin johnson played for this run first team too.
I am not saying this guy is better than dez but he sure looks tough to bring down with that stiff arm of his.He reminds me of marshall with his size and he looks to have decent speed for his size.

 

Not quite. Really, not even close.

CJ did play for GT, but not in a triple option offense that ran on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th down.

While CJ was @ GT, here are their offensive #'s:
2004: 346 att, 2210 yds passing. 486 rushes, 1947 yds rushing.
2005: 419 att, 2343 yds passing. 464 rushes, 1845 yds rushing.
2006: 369 att, 2375 yds passing. 526 rushes, 2274 yds rushing.

Paul Johnson coached GT offensive #'s:
2008: 165 att, 1290 yds passing. 640 rushes, 3552 yds rushing.
2009: 168 att, 1774 yds passing. 792 rushes(!!!), 4136 yds rushing.

You could also argue that whilst GT run more, when they DO pass, everyone knows Thomas is getting it.

 

Thomas is a big, physical receiver and I like him. Smooth athlete, will fight for the ball, too. But he's not particularly fast and he's a glider. While Nicks isn't the fastest guy around, he has an abruptness, a burst to him. In short, he can separate pretty well, especially for a big, physical receiver. We need one of those guys, not another glider. Again, I like Thomas, but if I had to choose between him and Nicks, the choice would be easy- Nicks.

I do agree with you though (as evidenced by Thomas having like 9x the receptions of the next closest guy), however I think it's a lot easier to know when Ok St was going to pass than when GT was going to.

 

Personally off the top of my head, I'd say 2-3 likely. His speed and apparent lack of explosion could drop him. Plus, how good a route runner is he? He was afforded single coverage a good deal at GT, but how sharp are his routes?

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my initial take. I know everyone wants to say 1st round, but I can't say that in reality. Not yet anyways, if he proves he deserves it, but honestly maybe 2-3 is the best bet IMHO.
