I agree alot with what he says, tho not sure 100%. Regardless he is well regarded in the league and has a track record.
The anti Ireland people are not going to like it much. But it is what it is Ireland is likely to be around next year so that being that case I hope Brandt is right.
I do think we are headed in the right direction and I do think we found our franchise qb. I am not saying we have but saying I believe we have, meaning I think he will take teh steps necessary to get there. Not that he is there now.
I dont think we are as far as it sometimes appears, and blieve Philbin is the right coach and Tannehill is the right qb

I didn't realize the Dolphins had the second youngest roster.
I think that puts the team's propensity to do dumb **** that loses them games while generally being quite competitive regardless of the level of talent in a bit better light.Boik14, Bumrush, djphinfan and 1 other person like this. -

As good as this sounds, it will more than likely not happen... Remember after the 2009 season an analyst listed Miami as a possible Super Bowl contender? I remember, and man that 2010 season ended the exact same way

Hard to predict next year with so many UFAs and so many draft picks. Chances are Miami will be even younger next year than they are this year. I see 2014 or 2015 as more realistic chance to being legit playoff contenders. Assuming Tannehill develops.
I like Gil, but does he really think Tannehill has been getting better every game? I think the Jaguars game was definitely Tannehill's best. It helped to be going up against the 31st ranked defense. Did Gil really see improvement in the Bills, Titans, Pats, and 49ers games? The Seattle game was solid.Bpk likes this. -
Second youngest team in the league. That alone should make you feel confident moving forward, especially with how well we've played at times this year.

Do you really believe all the people on this forum who don't think Ireland is a good GM won't like it if the Dolphins are good next season? Really?
Look, it's no secret how I feel about Ireland, but it seems pretty clear he is staying. So I got rid of my Fireland sig and replace it with a more appropriate one. And now I am all in on Ireland proving me wrong and making me look like an idiot for wanting him fired.
That doesn't mean it will happen, nor does it mean I don't think we're better off without him. But the reality is he will continue to sculpt this team for at least one more season so I will support him during the offseason and hope he makes good moves. Once the offseason dust settles, if I still think the team is crap and Ireland hasn't sufficiently improved this team, my feelings towards him will be revisited.
But to insinuate that the Ireland detractors won't be happy if we're good next season is simply asinine.Boik14, oakelmpine and smahtaz like this. -

I can only speak for myself, but all I want is for the Dolphins to be a good and relevant again. If that is with Ireland as GM that's fine. In fact, it's great. I have no problem admitting I'm wrong.
It's the same reason why after starting last season 0-7 I wanted us to Suck for Luck. Having Luck would have made us good and relevant once again. Short term pain for long term gain.
Wanting to Suck for Luck after starting 0-7 and the season being over and wanting Ireland fired because I don't think he's a good GM don't make me less of a fan. Not being happy if we become good and relevant again under Ireland's tenure would.Boik14, oakelmpine, Ohio Fanatic and 1 other person like this. -

I don't agree. We are bigger fans of the team, than haters of Ireland. Myself, and countless others would gladly change their tune if that were to happen.
Actually, I do believe that many here wouldn't be happy if the team won and Ireland was still here. They would enjoy the success of course, but would still complain that it was in spite of Ireland. -
So we're probably going to be one win better than I thought our max would be. (although Buffalo could just as easily beat us)
I will admit we're better than I thought we'd be. -
1) We'll see, Gil. Forgive me if being lumped in with the Panthers and Browns doesn't get me excited.
2) Wanting the Dolphins to fail next year just because you dislike Ireland would be cutting off your face to spite your nose...NolesNPhinsFan likes this. -
A couple of months ago Brandt also said Ireland had no initial interest in Tannehill. But came around later.
There are currently 4 FA next year standing between Ireland and 0 for 18 in the draft during his 1[SUP]st[/SUP] two years.Berezo, oakelmpine and NolesNPhinsFan like this. -

It was only 8 weeks ago when we were 4-3 and even the biggest Ireland detractors were coming around. Many still hesitant, but they were coming around for sure. I can only imagine if we managed to go 11-5 to end the year, or even if we accomplish that next year. I'd bet 99 out of 100 posters would admit he did a fine job in that scenario.
Man, I hope we're faced with that situation come December 2013Boik14 likes this. -
