I'm due to graduate with my associates in CJ in April.
I'm being advised to go on to Behavioral Science for my BA.
I have several issues.
1) I have student loans.
These need to be paid off.
My seasonal job just ended.
I want to start paying these off ASAP because interest. Every student feels this way and I know it played a role in me not going back because I didnt want to deal with this.
Its there.
Its always going to be there.
Letting it stop you from something you want to do is crazy.
Money is always a consideration unless youre born into it but otherwise dont let it stop you from pursuing something you plan on doing for the next 30-40 years.
Its a short term investment for a long term gain.
2) I am not sure I want to do Behavioral Science.
I am thinking of doing a different BA.
This means (possibly) transferring schools to a school where my credits will not all transfer. Again money isnt the only consideration.
Youre young enough to do what you want to do and go where you want to go.
You have no kids right?
So what if all your credits dont transfer.
And if you have to or want to go out of state then go.
That just means if you want to go back later on youre more likely to have prerequisites already taken care of.
3) This is a setback as far as completion is concerned, but I would much rather be happier with my BA at the end than to just graduate with all credits earlier because I can
4) I am thinking of doing History, or something with computers (Network Security?).
If I do History:
What jobs are available?
Is the pay decent enough to make a living off of? Teacher/professor, history writer, museum curator.
Thats why I didnt do history.
originally i was goingt o teach.
I decided I wasnt all in on that.
Also its much harder to find a job as a history teacher then as a math or science teacher because in this country no one really wants to do those.
The pay is decent enough but if you decide you dont want to be a history teacher then the use for the degree will be little after the fact.
If I don't do History, then what major do I want to do?
It's a good thing I have other things that need tending to before I can make these decisions.
I just wanted an outlet.
These are the things on my mind.
There's nothing I'm really "outreaching" for, but I am curious to know what your thoughts on all this are.
My best subject in school is History that's why I'm thinking about majoring in it.
Plus, I'm passionate about it.
Happy New Year!
