How do you catch 1000 yards back to back seasons while being virtually bad at everything? What about his other seasons before 2012 and 2013. He was good then, too. In an efficient manner, at least.

a 1000 yards receiving means nothing on its own.

    2013
13.4 yard average, which ranks as 45th
4 tds which is tied for 57 with lots other players
53 first dwns which is good for 21st
63.5 yrds a game which is good for 31 st.

That is pedestrian. Horrible if you count his salary.

That isn't pedestrian when you look at his targets. He was efficient for those seasons. He was efficient every year in Miami other than 2014. Some years he was better than others. In fact, in 2009 he ranked 24th in Yards per route run and in 2012 he ranked 18th.

You also didn't technically answer my question. You said he was down right terrible at virtually everything. If that were true he would have been cut long ago like every other player that is virtually bad at everything.

I'm glad Hartline was cut, but he gets too much hate. He's a nice player, just not worth what we were paying him, and he doesn't really fit in our offense. I wish him well as long as he stays out of the AFC East. Even if he were to sign within the division, he's not someone that scares me.

Like I said, nice player who does some things well and others not so well. It was time to move on.

I know for sure that he had to be cut at that salary figure. And I know for sure we had to upgrade from him. But I also know for sure that he was not a bum when he played here. No hating on Hartline for me.

I'm not trying to be insulting, but you're using efficient incorrectly. I just showed how he wasn't efficient. If yards are your thing, then per catch he was the 45 th most efficient receiver, for example. Hartline as the opposite of efficient when it comes to important receiver stats. His best was first downs and that's still pretty average.

Hartline is a quality #2 who needs a quality #1 playing opposite him. We never had that. We haven't had a #1 since Chambers, and he was a 1B.

    He's a meh #2. If he's your #2, I'm looking to add a better #2.

Lmao, ok. I'm using efficient incorrectly. Let's pretend that's true for the sake of the real debate. You still never answered my question. How is someone who is terrible at everything producing numbers that are by your standard average?

Agreed, Ill root for him as long as he's not in the division.

His weaknesses outnumber his strengths imo. Not a good blocker, not good at separating from tight coverage or making contested catches, not good after the catch or in the redzone, doesn't draw coverage away from other receivers. He's fundamentally sound in his route running and working against soft zone but that's about it. I'd love him as a cheap #4 or 5 type but for a #2 it's Time to get someone else in there.

Wrong in that I like Hartline and feel he's a quality player? I guess my opinion being different makes me that way I suppose.

I really like Hartline's game. His skills match the kind of passing game I enjoy. I feel that as part of an offense with quality parts around him, his comeback and out routes can be extremely productive. I suppose that there's not a lot of sense in arguing about it now, but I'm certainly not going to appologize for feeling the way that I do, or pretend that I feel otherwise to go along with the crowd.

I understand, people were attached to Davone Bess at one point aswell. We all have our players that we gravitate toward for one reason or another.

We don't have to pretend, you are. Efficiency in yards is determined by yards per something like game or catch or target. In all of those he was crap. The ONLY main stat he was average at was first downs, so I'm not sure you're paying attention to what I said. When your ceiling is average and you barely reach that, you're a crap player.

LOL oh ok. I liked Chris. He was a really good player for us in a time when we had no QB.
