Hartline opened Monday's practice as the Dolphins' first-team flanker.

 color me puzzled.

He did set a perfect pick that sprung Ronnie for his touchdown
-
Maybe they want Bess in the Slot.
Seems like Camarillo might get the axe if they have that much confidence in Hartline. -
Tell me the truth, though: You're just thrilled at the possibility of two Ohio State receivers starting for Miami, right? -
I'm not sure we should read all that much into this. The trend throughout this training camp has been continuous change of personnel groupings, at least with some emphasis on everyone having some level of familiarity with each other. That's not to take anything away from Hartline though. I hope the kid is starter worthy.

Intresting, and lends credence to the idea that Cam really is falling down the depth chart. We knew for sure that he had fallen to third but if Hartline is indeed being given a shot at the 2 spot then that would bump him to at least 4 with Drew saying all the way down to 5.

Too funny... when you think back on some of the things that were said here after we picked Hartline in the draft. This is exactly why I didn't get all in a panic. I knew there had to be something about the guy for us to pick him right after we had selected Turner.
One more note... Camarillo was brought in during 'Fail Forward Fast'.
Jus' sayin'... -
Very interesting. I have read some good things about him in training camp reports but to tell you the truth Ive been kind of underwhelmed by him in the two preseason games. Doesnt mean anything per se, it could just be the flow of the game didnt highlight him but it is interesting that he's now 1st string

i hope camarillo gets serious playing time this year, he really looked great last year and i think he can return to that form very soon
-
To me I don't think it means Bess doesn't start. I think it's to give him time against starters. Honestly I'd say it's more saying he's the number 3 guy, but when he comes out on the field he split out wide and Bess takes the slot. In 2 WR sets it'd be Ginn and Bess.
-
He didn't call the play, he didn't throw the pass, and he wasn't the sole reason the Phins were in position in overtime against the Ravens to make that play.
Don't get me wrong, I think Camarillo is a good WR. However, we have plenty of 'good' right now at WR, and we can afford to move him if it means building up picks for the future. -
-
I feel the same way about Camarillo...he kept us from ignominy and for that I'll always have a soft spot for him. Sparano, OTOH, has no soft spots for players. I think Camarillo is a goner.

Sparano said today that Camarillo back because there are a lot of guys at the position and they know what they have in him.
It sounds like, all things being equal, they want to see what they've got.anlgp, Trowa, Frumundah Finnatic and 1 other person like this. -
Maybe it's to give him a shot against the first teams defense to see how he reacts. This could be less an indication that Cam is doing less than stellar and more that Hartline is grasping the offense and has more upside to him. I am really not sure what to make of it, but they must have seen something in the game or the past few practices to make this move.

That catch, to me, was the rotten cherry on top of the worst football season I have ever had to endure as a fan. And, the fact that when Camarillo crossed the goal line, all the Dolphin fans, players, coaches... everyone, including me... erupted as if we won the freaking Superbowl, when all we did was win one lousy stinking football game out of sixteen... man, that is sad, sad, sad.
I was shaking. I was sweating. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it would jump out of my chest. Seriously.
That is, until I was watching the replay for the 100th time, and a moment of clarity set in. I suddenly realized what all us fans, players, and coaches were actually celebrating... and what that team had actually just 'accomplished'.
No offense to Camarillo... but, all he did was catch a touchdown. A touchdown that, to me, had defined how low this franchise had sunk under the watch of Cam Cameron.
Camarillo is a good player, but he's no hero to me. I'm much more thankful our football team is run properly now.anlgp likes this. -
Brian Hartline is the single most unathletic looking Wr I've ever seen, as in he has no muscle tone to speak of...seriously...he looks like a bowler... -

That catch made it so when Detroit is 0-10 this season they will not show ANY Dolphins highlights of that horrible season.dirtywhiteboy likes this. -
I wanna ask you guys an honest question:
Somebody had to throw that pass. It was a perfectly thrown ball. In fact, the throw, IMHO, was much more impressive than the catch and run. If the QB doesn't get that ball out early, and right on target, Ed Reed has an easy interception.
Why isn't Cleo Lemon held in as high a regard as Camarillo?anlgp, High Definition and Stitches like this. -
I don't understand why they don't give Turner a shot at starting. He has shown up with 3 catches in each of the 2 games so far. He has played very well. Are they trying to give him more motivation?
On a similar note it is very strange that the later picks are always seemingly out performing the earlier picks.
Langford vs Merling
Thomas vs Murphy
Smith vs Davis
now Hartline vs Turner? -

Turner has better numbers than Hartline in the preseason, but Hartline is catching most of his passes from Pennington while Turner's getting most of his work against the 2nd and 3rd teamers. You'd think he would out produce him in that case. You have Ginn Bess Ronnie/Ricky Fasano Martin and Hartline out there, of course Hartline is the lowest guy on the totem poll out there. When you have guys like Nalbone, Armstrong, London, Wilford and Turner out there, Turner's going to look very good compared to most of those guys.
Just my opinion of course. :)Trowa likes this. -
