Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!
This is the first time ever there is a thread dedicated to the election of team captains. It has to be. It is such a non-event and holds absolutely no meaning. Being a captain won't make Henne play any better then he would if he wasn't a captain. -
Good job Henne!

Good for Henne! His hard work and dedication to the team has payed off. Hopefully it carries into the season.

I think there was a thread devoted to the fact that Henne was NOT voted a captain last year...as there should have been. He should be voted a captain. It's his responsibility to be a team leader but it's also the team's responsibility to view him as a leader.
But I am absolutely FLOORED by Briggane's revelation, he has to be wrong about this, that Chad Henne has never been voted a Team Captain even in college. He was a four year starter!!! How could that POSSIBLY be the case? You mean to tell me he's been a starting quarterback for 6 years of football and only in his 7th year did he finally get voted a ****ing captain? Really?? Briggane has to be wrong on that. There's no way.SCall13, unluckyluciano and Stringer Bell like this. -

Different teams assign their captains a different way. Some do it week to week. Some aren't voted by the players but installed by coaches. Some might only vote one captain for the entire team. I know that the inspirational leader of that Michigan team wasn't Henne, though, it was Mike Hart, a multi-year starter in his own right.

I question Bell, not because of his play and experience but, because of his lack of leadership.
Anyone have anything from where he said anything ever about anything? -
Sounds like Henne has earned the respect from the coaches and players. They are the only people he needs to prove himself to. All the fans and armchair QB's & want to be or think they are GM's can kiss his arse, atleast for this season.

Either way, it's a non-event. -
and it may be a non-event to you, but to Chad you can be damn sure it means something. His teammates have his back and respect him, which is vital for the success of any QB. Confidence can be infectious, and if anyone needed it after 2010 it's him.Triggercut, RevRick, smahtaz and 4 others like this. -

Not having any impact on the W/L column doesn't mean it isn't important enough to be posted; I was curious who the captains would be. Is there not a special teams captain this year? If there was only one offensive captain would Henne get it over Jake? I obviously don't know Jake, but would seem he wouldn't mind and would maybe even encourage Henne getting it if it had to be one or the other. Next year Vontae takes Bell's C patch?

This is huge.

Someone photoshop Henne's face on Charlie Conways head please. CAPTAIN DUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 -

He's one of the longest tenured Dolphins and he has that team. Matter of factly, I think he may be viewed as the leader of that TEAM. It's no coincidence that the 2007 season started going in shambles as soon as Bell was injured in Game 1 against the Redskins, tearing his achilles out for the year.Vengeful Odin and MrClean like this. -
Good for Henne. He deserves it for what he did with the team during the lockout

On a somewhat related note, since the off season workouts he helped organize are what helped get him over this 7-year hump, did anyone see Aaron Rodgers' press conference last night where he made fun of the big deal everyone made of their not having off season workouts?
I was dying. It was hilarious.
First he said something like he was disappointed they could only score 42 points, got off to such a slow start because they missed all those off season workouts. Then he mentioned that on one of the touchdowns I think his receiver actually didn't run the correct route, but he could tell from his body language what route he was going to run and so he made the adjustment and threw him the ball, but it's surprising he was able to do that considering all the off season workouts they missed. Then later someone said he seems to do really well under pressure, improvising, and he asked Aaron to comment on how he thinks he's able to do that stuff, and Aaron said "Definitely the off season workouts". Later he's talking about a play he actually missed, a deep ball to an open Jordy Nelson, they ended up getting a TD anyway and the reporter is asking about the confidence he has that even if he misses a ball like that he can just come back and make it right anyway, and Aaron was actually talking pretty honestly and you could tell he was annoyed that he missed that throw because he didn't seem to care that they came back and scored the TD anyway, he said it's one of those things he ends up thinking about at night going to sleep, missing that kind of throw, he felt good about the throw before he threw it, it just came out "a little too good". By this time you think he's done making fun of everyone over the off season workouts issue but then he sticks in, "But that's one of those things, we'll just have to fix that in off season workouts".
I thought it was hilarious, and telling...because the backstory to all this is the Packers basically had none of those players-only workouts that were all the rage and that some people around here believe are going to give the Dolphins a competitive advantage, etc. So the Packers took some flack for that. They take the field and drop 42 points on the Saints right away, looking like a well-oiled machine.
So much for the whole off season workouts thing. Overrated.Desides, muscle979, Boik14 and 1 other person like this. -

I suppose that if it was something important to Henne then I'm glad he went out and accomplished it. But the players will have confidence in and follow fellow players who play well. If Henne throws 3 INTs Monday night I doubt the "C" on his chest is going to insulate him from the doubt of his teammates.
If he plays well, he will earn the confidence and trust whether he had actually been voted a captain or not. -
If Henne were voted a captain based on his own merits, then it certainly is somewhat encouraging. However, if its disingenuous, then its more a negative to me. Who really knows though.
