Left Tackle Jonathan Martin
Left Guard Richie Incognito
Center Mike Pouncey
Right guard John Jerry
Right tackle
Lets say Martin does come on strong we need, IMO
a right guard to replace Jerry
a Right tackle to replace Martin
We get two decent people on the right side we will be fine if Martin holds his own.
I am not mentioning the guy who has a last name opposite of short anymore, he is gone as we all should forget about him. IMO humble opinion, he was nothing to write home about for the last two years anyway.

I don't see why Jerry can't play RT (at least as well as he played RG), as I've always thought he's done fairly well when put on the edges in the past.

I don't remember seeing him at RT here, what games did he play RT ?

I know he played it in college but and I may be wrong but John Jerry has had weight " issues ". Its a know fact the staff has problems with that. We had not choice last year as Murtha had the foot issue and never made it to camp or made it then got injured, again, We needed Garner as the backup OT and deemed not a starter. So we had to go with Jerry as Samuda just was not ready.
John Jerry had better be in shape and have his Sh(*&t together this year in OTAs or he is going to get his walking papers this go round. I believe they find someone that could replace him. I like Kyle Long, Oregon in the third round. -
I think they need to figure out what they have at the bottom with guys like Samuda and Yeatman.
-
True on Samuda and Yeatman but we need to get something now thru FA or if not then we are definately doing something early in the draft. We cannot go into camp depending on Martin being better and Samuda and Yeatman as potentially being starters or one of them as a starter.
We need something firm and guaranteed as a starter especially at RT or LT or something for now. IMO Jerry is not going to be a starter this year. -
I would prefer to sign a FA tackle and draft a T or G on day 2. No I don't Jerry is the answer there, but I'm guessing he starts at at GFin D likes this. -

EDIT: I'm sorry that is when he stepped in for Jake Long at LT, not RT -
Well will not bother looking at it then if the pass rush was non existent, thats not happening too many games LOL
-
Technically Will Yeatman is current default starter at RT

Stitches, how you like the mock? -
It is looking a little weak and thin, but at least it isn't like we invested some high draft picks on the OL over the past 5 years including a couple of 1st round picks.
Oh wait, never mind.
Seriously though, considering Miami has invested the following picks in the draft #1, #15, #42, #73, #110, #181, #195 over the last 5 years on the OL that is a sad state of affairs imo.azfinfanmang and LBsFinest like this. -
Yeatman a much better prospect, then some people think. Two college sport star, who could be perfect for ZBS. Remember he making the switch from TE to OT. Might take a while, but he could end up being a real good NFL lineman for us. New England was pissed when we stole him from them. So do not sleep on this kid.

Jerry played every snap at RG in 2012 and his pass blocking efficiency was 18th among guards. Richie was tied for 6th. So considering 64 starting guards that isn't a bad pair at least for pass blocking.
Jerry had 553 pass block snaps and allowed 20 total pressures, which is sacks, hits and hurries combined, for a pct of 97.2%
Richie had 548 pass block snaps and allowed 15 total pressures for an efficiency pct of 97.8%
Pouncey was tied for 1st in pass blocking efficiency among centers with Stefen Wisniewski at 99%. 7 total pressures in 553 pass block snaps.
Martin was the 3rd worst tackle at 92%
Eric Winston was 25th at 94.8%. That is very close to what Volmer, 95.5%, and Andre Smith, 95.6%, were.
Back in 2008, for a little perspective, rookie Duane Brown was the 2nd worst pass blocking tackle at 91.8%.
2009, he was 9th worst at 93.3%. 2010, he was 19th best at 95%. 2011, he was 8th at 96.1%
In 2012 he was 5th at 97%. Maybe that will give some of us a little hope that Martin can similarly improve. -

That is a scary prospect when you consider that Tannehill is only heading into his second year as an NFL QB. I don't trust Martin at LT and no one ever knows what you will get from Jerry. I would rather see the Dolphins sign Vollmer or Winston, or trade for Albert. They could put this player at LT and return Martin to RT.
They should then draft Warmack with their first round selection.
This would leave them with:
Vollmer-Winton- or Albert- LT
Incognito - LG
Pouncey - C
Warmack - RG
Martin - RT
Now that would be an offensive line I would feel a lot more comfortable with and Tannehill should too. -
The key is not to misuse resources to address this issue. I don't believe you trade a 2nd round pick for a 29 year old tackle when you can get the needs addressed without giving up a draft pick. Use free agency, stick to your orginal draft board, and stay the course. I see way too much reaction to this situation. Miami did know or should have known they would lose Long.

My first choice would be for the Dolphins to sign Vollmer in free agency, but I think he will probably end up eventually signing with the Patriots. Winston would probably just be a short term fix if they decide to sign him. Albert though could be your starting LT for the next four to five years.
The Dolphins have plenty of draft picks to feel their various other needs. Providing Tannehill with the best offensive line possible should now be the Dolphins #1 priority, in my opinion. -

I wouldn't want John Jerry at right tackle. Just my opinion. I know he played it at Ole Miss but to me evaluating him it looked to me like he was never going to play that in the pros.
-
-
I think that line starts looking a lot better if you add Sebastian Vollmer to it. I would play him at left tackle but I know they would play him at right. If Martin does poorly then at least you have the option, a safety net.
Then you can start working on the guard positions through the draft and no, that doesn't mean Chance Warmack or Jon Cooper at 12. -
Jon Martin and John Jerry as the starting tackles is a nightmarish thought. At least sign Vollmer or Winston to make it half a nightmare. Yeatman and Adams are great developmental tackles but they will probably need more time.
-
I always believed you filled holes thru FA and then drafted the best player availabe regardless of what position it was. May take a 2-3 years but sooner or later you do not have to shop to much in FA. When you get to that point its a pick and choose or ignore scenario in FA and you can concentrate on keeping your own good guys around that hit FA. Like Bush, certainly not a Steven Jackson or Ahman Green but sure would have been fun to see him get outside.MrClean likes this. -

Well, to me we are roughly, or slightly ahead of where we were heading into the draft in 2012
We had to hope Long returned to form, he really didn't, we had no RT and no RG.
This year from LT to RG is at least somewhat settled, RT in a crunch can be filled by Garner who had injury problems in 2011 iirc, not great but we do have more answers. -
Same for Pugh, along with possibly being able to play even LT. He wasn't a wrestler though as far as I know.
