Smiling players. Joking. Cheap player commentary to the media.
I want to see players who are embarrassed and angry and are getting to work. Coaches too. No niceties please. This should bother you as a football professional.
I'd like to see some moves towards redeeming this season by making solid changes one way or another. Trades, roster moves. See the issues, fix it.
The media shouldn't want to talk about Miami and we shouldn't want to watch them like this.
Shut up, fix it, or leave, Miami.

The big question: Do you try and salvage this season? The OL can only be patched at this point, Tua will be hurt for a good portion of it with various injuries, and Miami WILL NOT make the playoffs this season.
Getting a high draft pick so you can look at getting another QB has to be considered. That means making trades with the future in mind, not trying to win now with Tua -that train has left the station. I don't want Grier in charge of yet another OL rebuild or QB search though. He had his chance and failed miserably. Maybe you keep Flores around to work with another GM, but his struggles to put together a decent offense (changing guys every year) is alarming.resnor likes this. -
Didn't we trade our pick to Philly?
-
Still have a lot of the season, and I'm definitely not off the Flores train, but Griers seat needs to be heating up. OL still a problem despite huge investment. Will Fuller a bust so far. RB hasn't been addressed. Tua has been a massive disappointment.
Flores' biggest issue is missteps on the offensive staff. Gaily was a horrible hire, and replacing him with his two lieutenants as co-OC looks to be a mistake. We needed Ross to open the checkbook and go get a Joe Brady type. -

Are we really suggesting tanking after 1 loss? We are eliminated from the playoffs at 1-1? Wow. Sure the gloom and doom is easy after that hot mess but.. yikes. Let's give it few more games before the pitchforks come out.

But yeah- as of today, fire everyone, gut the roster and start all over again...that's the prevailing opinion for the next 24 hours. Then most will come back to their senses and realize it's just one loss.jdallen1222 and OwesOwn614 like this. -
Losing 27-24? That's one thing. Getting absolutely pasted while losing our QB who already has a questionable injury history? Yikes.
This game was the culmination of all our offseason apprehension and misgivings. -
I don't need another game to know this Miami team is NOT going to make the playoffs this year, and that Tua will struggle to stay healthy. I was hopeful, but this game has stripped away the new coat of paint and showed the body damage and rust underneath.resnor likes this. -

Because that's all we're really talking about here- three throws that hit receivers in the hands that were dropped. -
The last two Bills games are beyond embarrassing and he deserves criticism but the job he has done is why we have these expectations. Now if they super regress and win 6 games? Feel free to say these things but today? Its laughable.jdallen1222 and mlb1399 like this. -

That score would have been a hell of a lot more respectable than the shellacking we got today. The problem is that this game isn't in a vacuum or a single small sample size.
The Bills are the hill we need to climb. They are the roadblock. They are the endpoint. And they had no trouble just demolishing us AGAIN. Fool me once, twice, thrice and all. A competitive loss is still a loss, as a fan it at least shows me that we can compete and have a shot, that we can maybe hang with the big boys. Now? I'm wondering if we finish above .500.Berezo likes this. -
I get what you're saying as well, but we did piss away 21+ points in the first half on flat-out drops. The game could have played out EXACTLY the same play by play, and we could have had 3 TD's and maybe a field goal from the one we punted from the 40. The team just didn't execute across the board. In fact, the only ones on offense I'd say had an average game was Brissett and Gisecki...everyone else royally messed up.Mexphin likes this. -
Facts:
*We missed on a franchise QB yet again.
*We still don't have an Oline despite spending ample resources to do so.
*We have no true #1 edge rushing threat.
*We have no true #1 wide receiver.
*We have no idea how to hire a competent offensive OC whether that's a head coach or coordinator.
*We are an automatic 0-2 every year to a divisional opponent for the past 3 years.
*We haven't won a playoff game in 20 years.
*We haven't made a superbowl appearance in 37 years.
Pete Stoyanovich missing that field goal against San Diego is more of an accomplishment than any of the past what...8 or 9 coaches we've had? What a joke we are now. Somewhere Matt Moore is reminiscing about the concussion he got in the playoffs against Pittsburgh. That's about the extent of "what would have been" for this team the past 3 decades...it's all just a foggy headache. I'm over it.Last edited: Sep 20, 2021 -
I'm not sure sure this is an overreaction but whatever, here goes...
Guys, I'm just tired. Tired and fed up. I suspect the majority of you guys have been fans for longer than I have, but after yesterday I'm not sure I have much more energy for this. Maybe it's disappointment after a big build up. What with the rebuild, some positive signs, a long offseason, draft picks, lots of different voices excited about the year, I was really excited about football being back, and now, after two games, I'm already exhausted.
It's not because we lost. Losing, in itself, isn't an issue. It's how it's happening. I know we've played two good teams but even that isn't the issue. I haven't seen a team that is making progress and playing better than last year. I see a team that's mostly a mess. A team that's scrambling. We have our good points, but we have no balance. Our OL is still poor after all these years. I really, really, really don't understand why. I don't care about draft picks spent - it either works or it doesn't work. If it doesn't work, you keep building.
There are just so many 'oddities' with this team that aren't a big deal individually, but when added together, they set off alarm bells in my head.
1. We brought in an OC. He left. We brought in Gailey. We got rid of him. We established dual-OC's.
2. We've repeatedly brought in Free Agents, at cost, and then let them go the next year. Why?
3. We keep trying to run 'cute' or trick plays. More than I see others doing. For example, in game 1, we put in Brissett for the QB sneak. Or we throw in a wildcat.
4. We have continued problems tackling runners. For years now.
5. We have continued problems on the OL.
It's easy to dismiss any of these. But it's the presence of all of them that's odd.
More than that, Grier seems to be able to find some decent talent individually, but only in certain positions, and doesn't seem to be able to build a balanced team. We have clear talent defensively. We can point to Howard, Jones is decent, Holland looks good, and we've had some decent guys on the DL.
Special teams are okay/good.
But who do we have offensively? Best players are Tua and Gesicki? Even Gesicki isn't a normal TE but used as a slot receiver. He can't block. So we use another TE for blocking.
Where do opposing teams look at our offense and see something to be afraid of? Something they have to respect?
I get the vibe that our offense is more theoretical than anything else - offense by committee, offense by system. It's an idea that should work but doesn't. It barely worked last year, and it hasn't worked this year.
Pass to establish the run? Who comes up with this stuff? If you've got a brick wall for an offensive line then maybe I can see it. You take your excellent, fearsome pass game and you use it to establish the run. But for Miami? We don't have an excellent pass game. What's more, we won't ever get one just by wishing for it. Which is what Grier and Flores seem to have done (though I've no idea how involved Flores is on this).
It actually reminds me a little of fun with Adam Gase. He seemed to be living in his head too, with ideas that would have made sense to him but which didn't work in reality.
Flores gets respect for discipline, for over achieving the last couple of years, and for a solid secondary. I'm not willing to write him off. However, whereas the D seems to have an idea what its doing, tackling issues aside, the offense doesn't. I honestly wonder if he's just clueless on that side of the ball. If he is, and he sees it, then he needs to find a superb OC he can lean on, but we've got dual-OC's and maybe they're both great and it's the right solution, but it doesn't scream competent to me.
We've got millions in free cap space next year. Maybe Grier is a great cap jockey. You know what though? I would rather have spent that money and had a better team this year. Are we sure Flowers, Van Noy, McKinney wouldn't have been worth keeping around one more year at least?
It's all just weird stuff, and it's giving me real doubts about this rebuild. Things should be coming together by now, not spinning around.
And then there's Steven Ross. He seems really likable, but when I look at the revolving door of coaches and managers and players, and then also see the same continued problems, that says to me that we've got a culture issue, and he's the common denominator. Top-down leadership problems are a real thing, and it's possible that ultimately we won't see change until Ross sells the team. I find it hard to dislike him. He's put his money where his mouth is. But, if he's making poor decisions then there's no getting around it. That's all speculation though.
Down at the business end of things I'm not sure I have the energy to watch a team that doesn't progress, that shows the same issues time after time.
Right now I can't fault any of the critics of Miami who see us a joke. In the long view we really are a joke - the team that will always make the leap next year, but never does. I'm not laughing though.
I don't want to hear any more talk from anyone on this team. It's pointless. We've heard it all. Say nothing. Fix it, or get out. Or maybe not.
As an international fan, following this team costs me sleep. I stay up overnight to watch prime time games, the draft, etc. I'm beginning to wonder why. It's not enjoyable. Maybe I just start watching the NFL in general, enjoy any game that's on. There's some good football to watch. It's just not in Miami.
I'm mostly just venting right now, but what's true is that I've no interest in anything Dolphins this week. I don't care about news other than to see if Tua will be out long. I'm not sure I'll care about next week's game.
I'm just tired.Dolphin Dundee and JJ_79 like this. -
I think we’re all tired of seeing Miami let us down. We feel you brother.
I think this all begins and ends with Grier. I don’t understand his gameplan at all. I still can’t figure out why we got rid of Van Noy or McKinney. I have yet to see a consistent pass rush and we still can’t stop the run. Losing Kwon certainly didn’t help.
I had pretty modest expectations coming into this season and I haven’t changed that assessment. I chalked up both Bills games as loses coming into the season and I knew after losing last week, we were going to get their best shot.
You just don’t win many games against good teams when your OL is bad and you don’t have a franchise QB. -
On the "bright side" Arsenal beat Burnley. Sadly I'm hoping they get relegated just to help force Kroenke to sell the team to somebody that knows what theyre doing and will spend money and quit giving excuses as to why they cant pull in any real talent other than Auba. -

The fact is, these guys in charge absolutely blew it in picking Tua over Herbert. I said it could be such a damaging move for a franchise and that it can set us back for many years.
Total bummer. Colossal mistake.
Grier has to go, but whatever, this season is shot. Tua is done here. He is too small and injury prone.
It sucks when you wait all off-season and get your hopes up only for them to be crushed in the first two weeks and the season is pretty much done.resnor likes this. -
Over the past few years, I've had big family problems- lost both parents, best friend passed of COVID, etc. Devastating stuff. But now in the aftermath, it's just my wife and I in a big house with these huge voids in our lives...we're no longer 24/7 caretakers. And going through this has made us re-evaluate what really matters in our lives. I do love the Dolphins more than just about anything, but I am so fed up with negative energy surrounding them.
These boards really are toxic after a tough loss and I understand why people overreact, but I sometimes wonder what the heck we're doing!?! I mean, it's football- why are we so emotionally invested in something we have zero control over?
It looks like we have blown multiple 1st round picks since trading away Tunsil and Minkah, which happens to all teams, but not when your franchise mortgages the farm on those selections. I also can't fathom why we keep drafting corners and signing even more in free agency; is the league getting ready to change the game to 15 vs 15? The coaching is a tremendous letdown as well and at some point, you have to point the finger at management and the head coach...and then the owner himself.
Ross seems like a good guy, but he doesn't know football and he leads this team by 'majority vote' from people who aren't even on our payroll. At the end of the day, that's what all this comes down to...he knows a guy who knows a guy that said Tua was a can't miss prospect. And I'm not anti-Tua here, he's a great kid, but it seems like our focus is to keep building the defense and roll the dice on great prospects like Jackson and Iggy. Because remember, we knew from the start that these guys were projects that wouldn't be ready day 1...yet we somehow started most of them anyway.
Where's the oversight? Where's the accountability? How the heck did we give away one of the top young LT's and the top young safeties for a handful of prospects?
At what point do we admit the cold, hard truth about what's happening here? We have a clueless owner, a great defensive head coach and a GM who favors prospects over game-ready talent. Meanwhile, the offense has been in limbo as we develop these prospects on game-day...which gets our prospect QB carried off on a stretcher. Now what? It's pure madness and it is not a bit fair to Tua.
Add in Tannehill's success after this front office jettisoned him, and I really struggle to see a playoff future for this leadership. Grier talked a great game and got very lucky when Fitz-Magic came to town, but it's all starting to feel like smoke and mirrors. We've started three seasons in a row now with the QB getting slaughtered and running for his life- I just don't want to see those types of sequels anymore. And if we're honest, we've had these same problems for decades. We can't develop the line and because of it, we can't develop a fluid offense. It all comes down to the trenches every time and somehow it's the area that's continually overlooked...even when we spend huge money there.
Again, you can't fully fault the players (maybe Jackson, but even so...he shouldn't be starting). This is 100% on the front office failing on their vision and bringing in the wrong leadership- from executives to coaches to scouts. Maybe part of that is the owner, maybe not, but we're not even close to "perennial playoff contender" because we have no recipe to be consistent. The front office has completely failed us.
I don't know if I'm giving up on this board, giving up on NFL football or just ranting here, but I do have to step back some and focus on other parts of my life. It's just not worth getting upset over when we see our team fail so spectacularly. I still think we'll be a winning team this season and maybe be in the conversation for playoffs, but I think I'm finished being a die-hard fan until we start seeing some consistency where it matters the most.
I love you guys, many of you are like brothers, but this just isn't healthy. -
KeyFin, at some point I got the feeling each and every one of us felt the exact same way you do right now. I know I've been through the " why bother" stages countless times over the years. But every Sunday I'm glued to the TV watching/hoping my Dolphins give me reason to believe they've finally turned the corner. The inconsistency is maddening. Sprinkle in a few great games sandwiched by total debacles is the norm for this franchise for as long as I can remember and believe me I've put my heart and soul into this team for more years than I care to admit.
The constant hope followed by disappointment is not healthy at all and the frustrating roller coaster ride is taking its toll.
But, if the last few decades are an indicator of things to come I'll be once again glued to the TV this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. eagerly awaiting kickoff for our beloved Dolphins. Hey, it's who we are. It don't make us bad people. A little nuts in the head perhaps, but not bad people.
