Maybe this thread will get back to him, he seems to want whats best for us, and does listen to us..
I'am making my case for Jeff Fisher to be our next coach...
I just wanna quote an opinion from a poster on this board, I think he nailed it..Larry is his name..
''I live in Nashville, so I have heard a lot about Jeff Fisher over the years. I know him probably as well as any NFL fan, and I can tell you the guy is a 'real' leader like Shula was/is. His guys not only like him, they respect him. Fisher is also a no-nonsense head coach. He won't do silly motivational campaigns about feeding a wolf or hanging up lobster traps in the locker room. He's honest and genuine with his team. He doesn't try and 'trick' them into being motivated. He's a great game manger, isn't afraid to take risks, isn't a jerk that rubs anyone the wrong way, and is respectful of other teams and players.
From what I gather, the two reasons Fisher left the Titans were:
1) Bud Adams forced the team to select Vince Young. Fisher tried his best to coach him up, but Young is/was an idiot with awful technique. Adams could not admit how wrong he was, and probably still can't.
2) Bud Adams always held a strict anti-nepotism policy. Fisher respected this policy, until Adams hired his own grandson in the front office. Fisher felt this was hypocritical... do as I say, not as I do. So, since Fisher 'technically' had it in his contract to hire anyone he wanted, he brought in his own son.
People need to understand the owner we're talking about here. Adams is a guy who was fined by the NFL for flipping off opposing fans from his visitors luxury box. The guy is a low-class bonehead. Believe me when I say that Fisher and his staff were hamstrung by him. Hopefully Ross wouldn't do the same.
Jeff Fisher, IMHO, when he returns, will be one of the best coaches in the league. He was about one yard from winning a Superbowl. He still wants it.
He also had an 11-7 record vs. Cowher's Steelers.''
I especially like that liitle factoid at the end...Head to head baby, in the toughest division in the league..He came out on top against the guy that seemingly gets the most love...Head to head is no joke..
So if you want to post why or who you want, I'am sure somehow, Mr. Ross will be reading..
For me, because I'am not hearing how Cowher or Gruden Want to be our coach, and I am hearing how Jeff is interested, then that's really important you know?..We don't wanna have to convince a coach to come here, we've already done that with Saban, Parcells, and Jimmy Johnson...We want them to want to be here, and want to be here long term, and will not run from their responsibilities before the mission is completed, we don't want someone who has alterior motives for the job, we want someone who will bleed aqua..
Fisher has been gone for a while, his first love the titans, are now a distant memory, he came so close to winning it all, so you know the desire is there, he kept the job for a very long time, and when he left, the titan fans respected the hell out of the man, and to me, that says a lot..
The man is respected in this league very very much, and playin and winning in this town, and in that stadium, is going to be a monumental task, so for me, I would like to go on the record and say, Mr.Ross, I would love Jeff Fisher to be our coach..

Nice right up DJ i liked it. Personally i don't think Ross would be the problem with Fisher doing what he wants it's Ireland that would be the bump in the road for him.
Edit: Soon to be two bumps if Carl Peterson gets involved.Larry Little and djphinfan like this. -
I'm willing to accept whoever Ross hires, including Fisher. Now go get me a QB.

I'm going to take the stance any coach is good if your qb is good and I'll just point at the colts team this year trash coach can make the sb with good qb.
-
Fisher was a damn good coach, its not his fault he was saddled with a ****ty QB after McNair left.

Fisher is a great man. I respect the hell out of him. And he can grow some damn fine facial hair. He's also a motivator, a character guy, and a genuine person. He possesses all these attributes on top of being a great coach, great game planner and great strategist. I would love to have him in Miami.

I'm already a Fisher guy. I believe he can do very good things in Miami with a better QB than McNair and a GM he can work with.

Great post DJ...I almost read the whole thing.
I agree whole heartedly. I said in another thread, that Cowher and Gruden, although not very old by any means, have been out of the game for a while. And the game can easily pass you by. Fisher is only a year removed. And the difference between a Fisher or Reid, is a a matter of a lucky/hot run when compared to Cowher. The Colts were the best team in the NFL that year by a country mile. And the same goes for the Ravens under Billick, yes a great all-time defense, but also a wild card team that got hot. And Gruden has struggled to produce a winner since his Super Bowl. I'd be thrilled with Fisher or Reid if Philly is dumb enough to release him. -

Here is a nice little video that sums up Jeff Fisher. He is calling Mark Mariani, a 7th round draft selection, at the end of the season to tell him he made the pro bowl as a rookie returner. This is at the end of last season, obviously.

Personally I wouldn't hesitate to select RG3 with our draft pick if Barkley isn't on the board, but I'm just saying... would Fisher? -
I also want to stress... we likely aren't the only team that wants Jeff Fisher. I'm happy that we're hearing that Fisher is on the top of our list, and I hope that's true. However, as much as I'd like it to happen, I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up too high.
However, I really have a deep feeling that this is a situation where if Fisher gets away, we could really come to regret it. As in a, 'We didn't sign Brees, but instead gave up a 2nd for Culpepper' type of regret. As in the type of regret us Dolphin fans would have had if, in the early days of the Dolphins, Joe Robbie wouldn't have hired a young head coach with a great regular-season record, but who had a bad post-season record, including two NFL championships lost to two inferior football teams.
I hope it's my bias because I live in Nashville.Ducken likes this. -

This is honestly why my choices for the Dolphins in the first round have went to Luck (unlikely), Barkley, then Griffin. Before it was a 2A, 2B situation for Barkley and Griffin but it's pretty safe to say Barkley has moved up the list for me. I wouldn't be upset with either player though. -
But for the record, I am on board 100% for Fisher. That has become my A1 hopeful scenario.
But as a Philly area guy, similar to Larry in Nashville...if the Iggles are stupid enough to fire Reid, I would love him here too.unluckyluciano and Larry Little like this. -

My personal ranking as of now:
1.) Jeff Fisher
2.) Jon Gruden
3.) Young Guy or assistant from another team
4.) The Chin
5.) Anyone else
6.) Tony Sparano
7.) Brian Billick
Have I mentioned I don't want Billick before? lolpadre31 likes this. -
Steve Young wanted to be a lawyer too .... and well - he is, now .....
-
As for Fisher, I like him better than any of the other name guys. He reminds me of Sparano in that he's a grinder, is respected by is players and was successful when he had good QB play.PSG and GridIronKing34 like this. -

My point earlier... which I think I failed to make properly... was that RGIII might be the kind of guy that if his heart wasn't in it 100%, he would likely be honest with scouts about it. Unlike a more self-centered, immature player who may be more concerned with just getting that paycheck. So an NFL team... like our beloved Dolphins... wouldn't invest a high pick and a respectable salary to a rookie QB who was going to half-a$$ his job.rafael likes this. -

I like him, but feel like he is the "Settle for" choice, he's a good HC but..not exactly a hot name so the marketing I suppose, has gotten me. -
