27 years old..would replace Hartlin, Gibson, etc in a second.

lot of money for cannon fodder. he would not start over anyone in our WR corps
-
Why, oh God why would we bring this guy in?
-
he's a dip#!@#, but if his asking price isn't too high, I'd be fine with him in Miami. Even though Gibson and Hartline should be ready for TC, doesn't mean they will be.

I wouldn't be opposed to Johnson. 3k yards and 28 tds...
-
Extremely talented dude. If he had a QB at any point in his career he'd be all-pro pretty regularly, imo.

I don't get it? There's no chance in hell he gets cut...the article even states it. 8.475 in dead money, saving them only 25k. No way.

Dumbass bc of him writing dumb **** on his shirts and getting flags for attention seeking behavior. Blaming god for losses lol (after he dropped a game winning td none the less). **** like that.Unlucky 13 likes this. -

He's a baller! I'd jump on him in a heartbeat - love his competitiveness.
But, as Citizen said, I can't see how he gets cut just to save $25K. -

Rather than the usual whitewashing, he took his faith to its logical conclusion rather than exhibit confirmation bias by accepting successes of God and rejecting failures as 'the devil' or something else stupid that directly challenges his faiths omnipotence doctrine.
I wish more religious people actually thought that way. I could hold a lot more reasonable conversations about religion that way.

His religion is literally that God controls everything. If he didn't think God caused the drop, I'd question his faith. As I do every religious person who believes their God predetermines all events but blames their shortfalls on the devil or believes in self determination.

He is a talented dip#!@#!!
If we sign him and trade Wallace? Sure.
He's better than Matthews right now, but I doubt he'd want to come in for that role, and I woudn't trust him as anthing more. I like our top three A LOT more than I like him.
Is Johnson inconsistent? Absolutely. He can disappear in games faster than Ted Ginn, but when he does show up he can light you up. Very quick, dynamic player with the ball in his hands, and IIRC he has hurt us a few times in the past.
He shouldn't be the number 1 guy, but as a 2 or 3 he is in his element and would likely succeed in this offense, especially with players like Clay and Wallace to help open things up for him.
The caveat to all of this is, is that we need to be very careful to not push Rishard Matthews down. Truthfully, we need to get this kid more playing time. He seems like he has made some nice strides in the last two years and should be more of a force this year and really should be hovering around the 35-45 reception area this year.

This is a very good playmaking WR, unfortunately it's a position we have a lot of money tied up in and while I think he is a better WR than Hartline...that's Ryan's security blanket.
Revis can't cover him
That's just part of life for Bills fans. Don't blame Stevie.
Not sure why people are bringing up Hartline, Gibson, and Matthews. If Miami is willing to spend significant resources on a wide receiver, it's almost certainly because they're planning on getting rid of Mike Wallace next year when he becomes much easier to jettison.
I'd like Johnson, but I think the ideal path would be drafting someone relatively high, and you've got options if Wallace pulls his head out of his ***, flexibility with snap counts, etc.
Only in Dolphin-land. Two seasons ago we complain about how bad our receivers are. We add only Mike Wallace, and you got fans saying that Steve Johnson wouldn't beat out any of our receivers, as if we have a premiere unit. Don't get me wrong, I like our receivers, but Johnson would definitely be an upgrade.

Stevie Johnson would be here in both the short term and long term to replace Brandon Gibson. That's the role he's good at.
But he could also easily be a starter in place of Mike Wallace. He could play on the outside in 2-WR packages.
The key here is whether you think this offense really needs a Mike Wallace (one-dimensional player with 4.28 speed). The Packers certainly don't have one and never had one at any point during Philbin's career there. Mike Sherman never had one at Texas A&M either. Bill Lazor had one in Philadelphia but that represents one year in a long career.
I agree, he's best in the slot for us but would he happy in that role and with the salary that would come with it? It may be more feasible to put him in Hartline's spot.
No, the Packers don't have a Wallace type. The Dolphins don't have a Favre or Rodgers type, either. Personally I prefer more of a ground approach but Philbin seems to favor throwing so why not field the best WR unit possible?
Wallace and Johnson outside, a reliable Gibson type in the slot, Clay, a good check down back, decent pass pro and a QB who can threaten the LOS w his legs. There aren't many defenses equipped th deal with all that.
As for why the Bills would get rid of him, forget the cap savings in 2014. I don't know why people INSIST on being so short-sighted with respect to the salary cap...always focusing on the immediate cap savings. And I'm speaking mostly about the MEDIA...because it's their JOB to consider this sh-t. It's been like 4 years since they signed the new CBA. That's plenty long enough to digest the fact that salary cap space is freely transferable from year to year, and therefore any dollar you pay a player NOW echoes into the future as a dollar you could have spent on a guy next year, the year after, the year after that, etc.
Why would the Bills cut Stevie Johnson? Not saying they will. Not even saying it's smart. Saying that if they did it, it would be to save $3.9 due to be paid to the player in 2014. That's $3.9 million you could use at any point down the road.
Why would they NOT cut Stevie Johnson? Because they just paid him $1.75 million roster bonus on March 15th. That's an awful lot of money paid only like 3 weeks ago that you would now be chalking up as just "well, we didn't know we could get Mike Williams at that time". If they're in for the $1.75 million already, not to mention the other $18.4 million they gave him in 2012 & 2013 combined, then they might as well be in for the other $3.7 million in 2014.
Ultimately the biggest reason you don't release him now is because you paid him $20.175 million for only 2 years of service and all you'd have to do to get a 3rd year of service out of him is pay him another $3.9. Might as well do that and then at least you can say you paid $24.1 million for 3 years of service ($8.03 million per year) rather than $20.175 million for 2 years of service ($10.09 million per year). Then in 2015 you can make the decision about whether to pay him another $6.025 million for service in 2015. Then they'll have paid him $30.1 million for 4 years of service ($7.5 million per year).
Truthfully they probably plan on keeping Stevie around for the entire life of the contract.
