On December 15 2013, almost unseen, safety Michael Thomas swept in like the Shadow and saved the day.
With a few seconds left to play right outside the Fins' own end-zone Phinatics all over were asking, "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of Brady and Belichick?"
Soon enough we would learn "The Shadow knows!"
Indeed, Michael Thomas would later proclaim, that he knew Brady would be throwing the ball his way.
It's one thing to know it, it's another thing to keep calm and act on it, perfectly. We might look at that and ask, like the Shadow, does Michael Thomas have "the mysterious power to cloud men's minds, so they could not see him?"
He's a seemingly humble man, Michael Thomas, but does great strength lie beneath? Indeed, what fate lies in store for the young safety? Other heroes have taken the stage in the Dolphins secondary. What do the coaches and front office think of him? After such a legendary start does he truly have what it takes? Will the coaches see that?
That's the question - Michael Thomas - The Shadow - will he come out to take the lime-light in 2014, will he have the chance to at least remain in the shadows, or will he leave the stage to haunt the opponents of another team?

I think that he has an outside shot at a backup roster spot with a great camp and preseason. Better than most of the other fodder in camp right now. He'll have to earn it and prove it though. Jones was great on ST last season.

My favorite part was Brady crying fowl to the refs all the way to the locker room.

That would be 11 players. Usually teams keep 9-10 DBs - for special teams purposes and depth. There will definitely be competition up and down the group for the final 6 spots or so. I think Thomas has a great chance to win a spot. There is a reason Miami picked him off SF's practice squad. Developing player but has some talent that he flashed. Sometimes it's just keeping your cool under pressure that makes a difference between camp fodder and a bonafide NFL player. -
WTH?? Don Jones led the team in ST's tackles last year. Not only that, he is one of the most athletic guys on the roster and has tons of upside. He isn't going anywhere.
As for Thomas, the fact that the 49ers were very upset about losing him should tell you something. I find it interesting that they used their 1st round pick on DB Jimmie Ward, who they see playing CB and S. A very similar player to Michael Thomas. They are almost the same size with similar workout numbers. Both are most likely going to be playing nickel and dime roles along with ST's in 14.
It may be Jimmy Wilson who needs to worry. Releasing Wilson would save 1.5 mil in cap. -

Wright may actually be more than camp fodder. He was a standout player at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Yeah, Jones' athleticism and special teams play is going to help him in the battles at DB.

His base salary btw in 2014 is $645k. (Edit). That is according to rotoworld. I see now that other sources show him with a $1.4 mil base salary. That seems out of whack to me, for a 7th rounder on the 4th year of his rookie contract. For example, Daniel Thomas, a 2nd rounder the same year, has a base salary of $816k in 2014 according to the same site that shows Wilson with $1.4 mil base salary.DPlus47 likes this. -

The two Dolphins pages on overthecap.com appear to contradict each other when it comes to Wilson anyway.

Spotrac.com seems to concur with rotoworld:

It looks like he has a base salary of about $600k, but if he were cut there would be a cap hit of $1.4 mil or so. What's your take after reading all the links? -
