Hyde says it great. Although, i think Ross gets off however he wants with no consequences.

Ross is the owner and can do whatever he wants and doesn't have to answer to the fans or anybody else.
Such is life.
All fans can control is how much of their time, money and passion they devote to the team.
While I'm not interested in telling other fans whet they should do it how they should feel, I can say that if you're frustrated you don't have to be a zombie.
Don't buy a ticket or jersey until the team proves it's worthiness to you. Stop being used.
I gave up my season tickets this year and found I didn't miss it still all. -
Like it or not its Ross's team and he can do as he wishes.

You guys are such drama whores. Seriously grow up.

If you don't want to root for the team, then don't waste your time.
I used to follow the Dolphins insanely as of a few years ago, then I realized that I have no influence and that it was more of an addiction than anything.
I eased back on the throttle and my life is better for it.
You shouldn't be a slave to things that are out of your hands, particularly if you don't even support or like those things.the 23rd, mbsinmisc, unluckyluciano and 5 others like this. -
I think you have got to wonder if:
- Ross knew for a fact Harbaugh was going to Michigan
- Ross knew for a fact Malzhan wasn't coming to the NFL yet
- Marino agrees with keeping Philbindolphindebby, mbsinmisc, Ohio Fanatic and 4 others like this. -

drama queen? were you talking about me? I am aware its "ross's team" its also a product, and I agree with the above poster. As for this thread - i posted an article by an actual reporter that says many of the same things people on this board are saying. I am sharing a dolphins article with a dolphins forum, and also putting something that is well written out there, and it shows our sentiments are not just that of couch GMs but of serious reporters who write about the dolphins.

It sure looks that way on TV.
I honestly don't think the average fan cares at all who the coach is. If the QB makes you a competitive team that wins at home, you'll be a popular team. -
But there wasn't a consensus opinion that the Dolphins should have changed coaches last offseason.
This offseason, there most certainly is. Next year is going to compare more closely to 2011 in terms of fan sentiment and willingness to go to games.Jersey Dolfan likes this. -
There was an uptick in attendance when the team was relevant about mid-way through the year. Then we got our butts handed to us 2 games in a row, just like last season and are out of the playoffs again. Apparently the stadium was half empty today. I expect the same next week, and now that they realize Philbin has failed for the second season in a row, i am not sure people are going to get so excited next year, knowing the other shoe will drop soon with Philbin at the helm.dirtywhiteboy likes this. -

Ross looked like an idiot when he coveted Harbaugh last time then ultimately gave Sparano an extension when Harbaugh wasn't interested. I get the feeling that that debacle played a huge part in all this. I also believe that if Ross felt that Harbaugh was on board with coming here this time he wouldn't have announced this move yet. Clearly saving his own ***, or doing all he can to not look like one again.

Stadium will be empty next week, no doubt.
Not sure even that many Jets fans will bother -

I wonder if Chargers fans who complained every year they retained Norv Turner were labeled drama queens. But I suppose this situation is different because Norv actually took a team to the playoffs.
Enjoy Philbin, zombies. You deserve each other.jldolfan and schmolioot like this. -

I`m really starting to believe this too. Seems he really don't consider his actions might be detrimental to how the fans will react and ultimately lose attendance. Its not like he needs the Dolphins revenue to survive. Certainly sounds like a hobby to me. -
Last week Hyde said that Ross was "certain" to go after Harbaugh & Gamble aka fire Philbin.
Now Ross is a bad owner for keeping Philbin? LOL how about Hyde is a bad journalist for funneling BS and getting people's hopes up just to increase his traffic.bg34, Larry Little, DolphinGreg and 1 other person like this. -

Ross didn't want to compete with Michigan, his alma mater, for Harbaugh, a coach that Michigan really wants.

He acknowledges the 2013 disappointment, acknowledges a mindset existed that we should've been in the playoffs, and acknowledges that his expectations at the start of the season are to make the playoffs, but he then head-scratchingly follows it up by stating he expects the ring leader of this disappointment to be here a long time. Way to paint himself into a corner.
Making Ross's statement sound even more retarded is the fact he acknowledges he has a young team that's maturing, which has been clearly evident this season. Ross understands Miami should be winning more games simply because of the ascension of young, maturing players, and the team has done exactly that going from 7-9 to 8-8 to 8-7. This negligible increase is directly proportional to the improvement of the roster, thus it rhetorically begs the question- where's Philbin's impact? How much credit from these 1 win improvements is left to throw Joe's way after the improved roster grabs its majority share? Hell, Miami improves from 7-9 in 2012 to 8-7 in 2014 just on Tannehill's improvement alone. So I ask again, where's evidence of Joe's improvement? -
Other than him though, I agree, everyone else is a lateral move. -
I disagree a little about this being as bad as retaining Sparano for the 2011 season. Sparano's team was on the decline. He was a coach who failed to upgrade/develop the most important position in football, and did so again in 2011. That was in large part due to the fact that he was also paired with a completely inept GM who was retained for about 3 seasons too long. Sparano also declined as a coach after his first successful season.
On the other hand, Philbin has a young QB who has made significant improvement each season. Philbin himself is also improving, at least in terms of wins / losses (assuming Miami beats the Jets). When you factor in the injury to Albert, and what that meant to the team this year I don't think sticking with Philbin is the worst case scenario for this team.
It may not be that far fetched to think that with further improvements to the offensive line and depth on defense, this team can improve again in Philbin's 4th year. If Harbaugh wasn't coming, then retaining Philbin might be the best thing for this team. And it probably will mean decreased season ticket sales for next year. But if Ross's faith in Philbin pays off, the fans will come back. If not, then Ross will have no choice but to do a clean sweep. -
