If you seriously think only 2 or 3 teams would beat the Patriots backup and 3rd string QB without Gronkowski and the numerous other injuries they had then youre the one missing common sense. And the seahawks played terrible. They tried everything they could to lose that game but thanks to the pitifulness of our offense they managed to score 12 pts and still win. Over half the league wins that game week 1. The Rams beat them in week 2 and the Rams arent exactly a powerhouse. Its hilarious seeing fans praising the 0-2 start just because it was against elite teams in the past. And 7 pts isnt a close loss in todays nfl. They werent a final play away from winning. They were 1 play away from potentially tying. For a team to lose the way mia did week 1 and get flat out embarrassed the 1st half of week 2 and be praised is laughable and shows the lack of intelligence and expectations for this pathetic franchise lately. They looked like the worse team in football 6 of the 8 qtrs theyve played and you praise them. Wow. Be curious to see if you have any moral victories when the avg teams start beating us.

I enjoy watching them play right now. The Dline and Oline progression is enough to keep me emotionally balanced til week 8. Suh is incredible.

 

While I think more than 2-3 teams could have won those games, and while I am frustrated we lost those games, I'm actually somewhat hopeful still. I had very low expectations for this team with a new head coach and new offense and defense, I just want to see progress. Week one our defense looked incredible, week two our defense looked outstanding for 2.5 quarters. They are going through some growing pains, but there have been positive signs that Gase's vision can make us a winner.

I like Gase over the long term and think he will be a good coach and successful if given some talent. But to act like anything Mia has done the first 2 weeks is impressive shows just how low some fans expectations are. To be "happy" with our first 2 games you must be football illiterate or have incredibly low expectations.

Given what ive seen from the OP he isnt a very football savvy poster and he likely wouldve seen optimism in any result from the first 2 games. Personally, as a former collegiate athlete i expect much better out of professionals than what ive seen. We have scored 4 tds and have 4 turnovers in 2 games if im not mistaken. So we are just as likely to turn it over as we are to score a td. How impressive. Our D has gotten run over by Blount and a cast of backups when we knew they had to run. Again not impressed.

We have managed to mess up snaps and chip shot fgs. Not impressive. We have scored a total of 6 pts in the first half of games. 6 pts in 4 qtrs. How impressive. We have scored a total of 10 pts in 2 games before being down 31-3. We have been abysmal on 3rd down again. We have no running game. We still play off coverage 12 yards on 3rd and 9. Make it way too easy to convert while all but giving up when we are in 3rd and anything over 5 yards.

What the **** has been so impressive? Outside of 2 qtrs in the NE game where we were down 31-3 we have looked like the worse offense in the league. 3 and outs galore. Defense is on the field for 3 x the plays in both games the 1st half. Ive seen way more bad than good. 4 terrible qtrs and 2 good qtrs. Pretty damn impressive and fans have the audacity to call other fans who dont have their heads up their asses as lacking common sense? Lmao.. irony

 

The bothersome thing is the defense is failing again. No one seems to be able to figure out why

Tampa was down 24 to nothing at halftime against Zona. They scored 7 in the second half. After Tampa scored 31 against Atlanta...everyone was saying JW was elite.

Im not arguing all is roses by far. There were an abundance of bad mistakes on the field. But think about this....Tannehill wasnt sacked for only the 5th time in his career last Sunday. Our line was picking up stunts...picking up blitzers and allowing him the time to get back into the game. That TD to Stills would never have happened last season...because the line could never have held up long enough to allow that double move to take place. The TD run by drake was perfectly blocked...and we had a back fast enough to slip in the crease created to score a TD.

So...if you cant get excited by the fact our line is actually pass blocking well...we have a set of receivers that can create mismatches all over the field...we have a QB who given time can make elite..ELITE..throws...

Man...gonna be a long season for ya bro

 

Most of us are not going to talk up losses like they're big accomplishments.

We watch games and we analyze what happens.

No one has seriously suggested Gase be fired or Tannehill be traded. I don't get whatever point you're making there. Strawman at best.

 

I understand the glass half full outlook of the two close losses but please keep in mind that 2007 team would just as easily gone 7-9 that year.

I'm an optimist by nature. When it comes to Miami Dolphins, I've been watching the same old song and dance for 10-15 years. I would also argue that we didn't almost beat NE. We were down 28 points and we brought it back within a TD while they were playing with their 3rd string QB and without the best TE in football.

I don't want to fire Gase or bench Tannehill. I'm at a point were they have to prove it before I buy into any hype.

 

Fair enough. With that said, the second game against Arizona was a blowout that had Sparano rethinking his approach.

 

Except Seattle just got beat by the rams! Seattle isn't as good as people think so we played a close game against another bad team.

 

I think there's lot of BS flying around. Too many claims that aren't quite true.

People say it's been a great start but there's been a lot of mistakes.
People say it's been terrible but there have been some great drives.
People say NE and SEA are great, but right now that's not the case.
People say Garoppolo is garbage but no, he's played well.
People say the coaching is questionable but I see most of the players responding.
People say the roster is bad but I see a mix of very good players with a few that have been awful.

So far, there's been good and bad. We should expect that I think. I wouldn't listen to anyone who seems convinced of one side.

 

Then your expectations are delusional. We were a 6-10 team last year. We're not fighting for the super bowl this year. We're probably not fighting for the playoffs either. If everything breaks right maybe we can sneak in but the odds are less than 50%. If you're going to align your expectations with reality an 8-8 season would be a success. Next year 10-4. Realistically two more wins then the prior season is improvement and cause for optimism. Football is a talent acquisition game. We don't have enough talent yet to expect victories over the Steelers, Seahawks, patriots and bengals. We can hope for them but those teams have more talent as of this year

 

If the Seahawks are as good as you state they are, we are in for a good thumping when we face the Rams. Because they have beat the Seahawks the last three times they have played them.

If Garroppolo had not been injured, the Patriots would have scored 50 points against the Dolphins and the game wouldn't have been close, IMO.

I do agree that the Browns are terrible and the Dolphins should win the game by double digits this coming Sunday. As far as the rest of the season though, I still see this years team being no better than 6-10.

First time I said this people laughed, but I'm serious. You have to give credit to a defense if they injure the QB. Yes, IF there was no injury they rack up way more points, but that's not what happened and the defense should get credit for not allowing more to be scored.

I was was only being sarcastic when I made the statement regarding the Rams thumping the Dolphins because the Rams have beat the Seahawks the last three times they have played. Obviously I realize the Rams beating the Seahawks does not mean the Rams are better than the Dolphins.

As far as giving the defense credit for injuring Garroppolo, I just don't agree with you. Garroppolo was injured after he had already released the pass and he just happen to fall on his shoulder when he went to the ground with Alonzo on top of him.

Perhaps if if he had been injured on a sack or when he was running out of the pocket to escape the rush, the defense might get some credit. Even though I really don't like to see any player hurt, no matter what team they play for.
Garroppolo was just unfortunate that that he landed on his shoulder. As far as the play of the defense in the second half is concerned. They were playing against a QB who had never played a single down in a regular season game. Yet his QB rating was over 100 during his time in the game.

The defense let the Patriots offense run more than 5 minutes off the clock at the end of the game when they were unable to stop them in the running game. It was only the miss of an easy field goal attempt by one of the best FG kickers of the past decade which even gave the Dolphins a chance to tie the game in the final minute.

I think the Dolphins offense played much better in the second half, but considering the defense was going against a rookie QB, I didn't think the defense played well at all in the second half.

 

Well Alonso clearly landed on Garoppolo which inflicted the injury. That much we know is true. Literally speaking, the D caused the injury but until they injure like 7 opposing QBs in a season it'll be a fluke thing.
