While there are still Tua skeptics here and that pro and con battle continues, I'm curious if we all agree on McDaniel at least.Sceeto, Csonka Marino, JJ_79 and 1 other person like this. -
McDaniel's fantastic. He's an innovator too. Changed up the schemes from last year to adapt. We'll see if he can stay ahead of defenses for the rest of the year.
What's going to ruffle some feathers is that all this success will raise Grier's stature too and even Ross. Grier is starting to look smart for not just the Tua pick but also the Waddle pick (though hard to go wrong there) and the Hill trade, and also hiring McDaniel. All his other mistakes are being overshadowed by these successes. And if Fangio pans out (and I think he will, guy has too much history).. man.danmarino, Csonka Marino, Bumrush and 1 other person like this. -

Grier is mega fortunate to still be here but boy am I glad Ross kept him over Flores. A lot of the most vocally anti Grier people **** him for things that turned out he was right about.Csonka Marino and Puka-head like this. -
I can't remember who it was, but one of our posters dismissed him for not projecting enough of a manly image to be a leader of men. But he's a really bright coach and I hope he continues to see a different game from his peers. Probably my favorite thing about him is that he saw Tua as an opportunity when a lot of folks thought he was a reclamation project at best. Dude was genuinely excited to deploy an offense that took advantage of his strengths whereas Flo already wrote him off as a wasted pick.

I'll admit it took a while for McDaniel to grow on me but right now he's making Grier look like a genius for hiring him. It's the classic don't judge a book by it's cover. What he has done to elevate Tua's game is unreal.

I admit I thought it was a mistake when Miami fired Flores, I thought he was a decent coach and one of the few bright spots from those 2 years. That said, I immediately liked the hire of McDaniel and I hope Miami gives him the type of patience Steelers give their coaches. I'd like to see him coaching here for a decade plus!

Even his approach to man management seems to be different and it's obvious the players love him. Compare how he handles players making mistakes to Belichick who benched his rookie after that fumble. The rookie is the only receiver the Pats have that is actually capable of making people miss and running past people, I was delighted when he took him out of the game. -
