I would for their first, second, 4th and 1st next season. Then I would trade up with the extra 2nd.

 

Tyler Eifert and Tavon Austin will be hot commodities come draft day..two best offensive weapons in the draft so I get it..

We are likely not going to use the draft picks we have .We are not going to be adding 11 players.Its more likely we will package them to move up in the draft .

Having said that I would like to accumulate picks for nexts years draft too.

 

This is the year to get two first round picks..

 

One thing we have to keep in mind, is that the Falcons are a very good team and will probably be picking in the bottom 10 picks next year. So even if we got their 1st round pick it would still not be much better than a high 2nd rd pick. I personally think this draft has some amazing talent in the late 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds. Having said that I would be MUCH more interested in trading with SF at 31. They also have the 34th. If our tackles are gone and we don't like Rhodes, we could trade #12 all the way back to 31. I would take their 1st, 2nd and 4th rd picks. Our 12th is worth 1200. Their 1st is worth 600, their 2nd is worth 560, and their 4th is worth 44. 600+560+44=1204 so those three picks would be an almost perfect fit. Add to that they are a team very close to having all they need and might only be one high pick away, so it might make sense for them also. To me, if I am falling back that far that is the place I would be interested in.

Much more likely that Miami trades back up into the 1st round, than something like this happens. Miami needs good players and they have plenty of picks as it is.

 

The Falcons management is smart enough to understand that the best players are those players selected in the first half of the first round. That is why they would be interested in moving up from the 30th pick in the draft and possibly also giving up picks in the later rounds along with their 30th pick in the first round.

The last time Ireland traded down in the first round, he ended up drafting very mediocre players in Odrick, and Misi with the picks he received in the trade with the Chargers. If he had stayed where he was in that draft, he could have drafted Earl Thomas, Jason Pierre Paul, Maurkice Pouncey, or Dez Bryant. These are Pro Bowl type players, where as Odrick and Misi are average players at best.

So no, I don't want Ireland to trade down 18 spots, just so he can have a few extra picks, which will probably be on players who are mediocre or don't even make the team in the first place. I would rather see Ireland stay at 12 or possibly trade up to take an impact player. We have enough mediocre players already.

 

I would not be opposed to trading down with whomever, and then being able to trade back up in either the first or second rounds to get a guy we covet...

Like I've said before, there are sooooo many options for us this year...grabbing an extra pick next year wouldn't make me cry either...

 

I don't think we need 11 picks either but that's more b/c of the 3 7th rounders and 2 5ths. IMO there's nothing excessive about having a late 1st, three 2's, and two 3's. All those guys should have starting potential and would provide a needed improvement in depth, and we have a handful of players due to hit free agency next year who could use being cheaply replaced in the draft so that we're not forced to dish out a group of contracts to Starks, Soliai, Incognito, Keller, Misi, Patterson, Grimes, Bess, Clemons or their FA replacements, and we still have needs at offensive tackle, pass rush, and finding a long term solution at FS. Not to mention we need to lock up a few core players to long term deals.

IMO it all depends on who's available at 12; however I do like the idea of acquiring the extra first next year and then using our extra 2nd this year to trade up 30 if needed. With Clowney in next year's draft I'd want as much 1st round ammo as possible to try and get in on that action.

But like Stringer said- LOL at Atlanta trading up again. Would be shocked if San Fran traded up that far, too.

I don't see why not, if we drafted 11 who were worth keeping. Our veteran depth isn't that good so that good rookies couldn't supplant them, and 2-3 draft picks could be starters.

No. We have to many holes to fill with high talent players anyways. I suspect we will be trading up, rather than trading down. We have too many picks as it is. You dont want to draft as many players as we have picks right now, you'll end up cutting most of them through camp anyways. Id rather we use some of those later picks to either move up in the first to get the guy we want, or pick at 12 where we are, then try and move back into the first.

 

I would strongly consider it.

At #30 overall you could be staring at Menelik Watson, D.J. Hayden, Cordarrelle Patterson, Jonathan Cooper, Tank Carradine, Bjoern Werner, Jarvis Jones, Kawann Short, Manti Te'o, Arthur Brown, Jonathan Cyprien or Matt Elam.

Seriously, any of those guys would be available. And then, maybe even one of them would still be available at 42 overall.

I mean, let's say you can come out of this draft with:

And after THAT much of a haul, you've still secured yourself two 1st round picks in 2014. Plus an extra 4th round pick in 2014.

That's a good deal, right there.

 

I think we have to keep in mind that Cleveland got that haul with the 6th pick that year (which is where they are yet again), while we're sitting in the 12 spot.

In 2010, the 12th pick got us San Diego's 1st (28), 2nd (40) and a swap of 4ths (our 110 for 126). Atlanta may be looking to deal with Cleveland yet again. For our pick, they'd still need to add some sugar. Probably a #1 next year.

At any rate, I wouldn't rule out moving down if I'm not gaga over anyone at 12 and we can get a decent haul. I'd be looking to possibly jump back up in the first round and possibly set yourself up with an additional high pick for next season as well.

I would try really hard in trying to trade the higher third this year for a 2nd next year.

 

....and also try to trade one of those three 2nd rounders for yet another 2014 1st. LOL @ 3 first rounders next year.

 

9ers also have a ton of picks.. I am sure they are looking to either move up or trade some of those picks for future picks.

 

I dont think anyone would be dumb enough to give up 2 1st round picks a 2nd and 4th to move up 18 spots in this draft. That is way over paying…. If you are looking for a 2014 1st round pick that is going to carry somewhere between 580 to 420 points depending on how a team values their future picks… So for the sake of argument say it is worth 500 point. The 30th pick is worth 650. That is 1150, their 4th round pick is going to be worth about 46 points… so you are really looking at the 30th this year, a first next year and a 4th.

 

If I was going to trade down I would do it with the 49ers picking up their 31st pick, 34th pick and 127th pick (1205 point value for those three picks).

With those players in the top 5 rounds you address OT x2, future OG, You get a CB to play opposite Grimes, A safety that can play the slot this year and move to the starting position next year if they choose to let Clemons go. As passrusher opposite Wake. A huge red zone threat in Fauria AND with Lattimore.. I sit him out a year and let him properly heal and you have a 1st round talent and RB next year.

 

For that haul, I would do it IF none of the tackles or another top 5 talent fell to 12.

But it depends who the Falcons are targeting.

 

Does Atlanta want this trade done now, or would it be on the table after pick 11 is the question.

If they want a SPECIFIC player, then by not trading now and waiting for draft day we would run the risk of that player being gone by 12. And Thus the trade being gone too.

I would most definitely make the move and then use the pick on pretty much any position (with Brandon Albert traded) included. Miami can simply go right after the strength region of the draft from the 2-3rd round and then at the top of the 4th take a guy who slid. Perhaps they get another third in that period as well.

So even more reason to add picks, knowing the odds are some won't pan out.

 

To those who say that we have enough picks, and that all 11 wont make the team, I think that you're missing the point. Trading down to aquire another second rounder (or more) doesnt have anything to do with whether the 5th-7th rounders make the team. If the team can make six picks in the first three rounds of a deep draft, then thats an excellent shot at adding a lot of talent into a team that, frankly while better, is still thin in many areas. Can you look at the roster and say "yup, not many roster battles in training camp this year! Pretty sown up." I sure as Hell cant.

Im not excited about trading down to 30, but the idea that Minnesota would want to trade up from one of their two first rounders (22 & 25) is appealing. They're said to covet Austin.

 

Though I haven't heard anything, I would almost bet money ATL. would be targeting Eifert if moving up.
