Yes, yes it is really that bad.

 

No, it's not really that bad. It's much, much worse.

 

It really is, unfortunately. Many of us remember the Marino years, and even before, where this team was respected, feared and down-right BEASTLY from year to year...even if they didn't win the Super Bowl, they were a good, reliable, respectable team, EVERY year. Ever since ownership changed hands before Marino retired, there has been a steady decline. The owner makes a world of difference on how a team is looked at and performs...Ross needs some help.

 

It is that bad, because the worst thing you can be in the NFL is a bad team which overachieves and goes 6/10-9/7. In other words, the kiss of death is MEDIOCRITY.

The league is set up to assist bad teams by granting them the best position in drafts, and having higher priority on the waiver wire. 7/9, 8/8, 9/7? Well, just look at what we're facing this next draft. We need a LT AND a RT and either a Center/one Guard or two Guards. And already there's talk of having to trade up if we want a top-5 Tackle on that list. In other words, it'll likely cost us our 1st-and-2nd round picks just to fill one position. And we still haven't addressed the other other three/four needs just on that one unit.

So, by virtue of going all Vince-Lombardi and winning a couple games which ended up mot mattering a bit, we are in a poor position to be able to go all-out in the draft, which is where you should be able to find your O-Linemen; we'll have to spend big bucks, likely on a RT (because top-ten LTs rarely hit the market) in free agency, and probably overpay on a Guard or two as well.

I'd much rather go 1/15 or thereabouts than 9-7. Backing into the playoffs as a 6th seed is not what every boy with fantasies of being an NFL player one day dreams of.

But that 1/15 season? By the time you get to 0/10, it's just funny and you can have a good time with it. Or you can burst blood vessels and risk death—your choice.

Or, of course, if Jeffyboyo is your GM, you can squander the 1st overall pick on a LT made of fine crystal and...what's that stuff that gets bulled or speed-rushed back into the QB? Oh yeah—jello; and then watch him walk away for no compensation after five injury-riddled years.

 

Yeah 1-15 allows you to draft your franchise left tackle for the next decade...or something. It's so pathetic lol

 

Since the 2000 season the Dolphins are 108 wins and 118 losses, including the one playoff win in 2000, and the three playoff losses. To give perspective, Miami won 23 in 2000 and 2001. Since 2002, Miami is 85 and 106, including the one playoff loss. Miami has 6 winning season since 2000 and three playoff appearances. That is 6 winning seasons in the last 14 seasons, and 4 winning seasons and one playoff team in the last 12 seasons. If you go back to the last 10 seasons, the Dolphins have 2 winning seasons and 1 playoff team. That is completely unacceptable. That is 66 wins and 94 losses. A winning percentage over the last 10 years of 41 percent. The last 10 years have been a reflection of losing and frustration. Ireland has been a part of that.
If you look at the team's drafting it gets worse: 4 season of the Wannstedht/Speilman era they left 5 players on other teams 1 starter, 4 backups & 2 starters on the Dolphins roster.
2 seasons of the Saban era he left 5 players on other teams 1 starter, 4 backups & 3 starter on the Dolphins roster.
1 season of Cam/Mueller era they left 3 players on other teams all backups, 1 starter & 1 backup on the Dolphins roster.

If you throw in your analysis of this year it probably gets worse. He does better in the later part of the draft, but oh what a failing grade in the first three rounds. That has to get you into trouble. Look at the picks in his first three round this year, and consider Martin as a failure for last year. One success in 7 attempts in the 2nd round. And the first round is just crazy.

You read the numbers for this organization and tell me things are good.

In other words, we can find players in the later rounds who can make the roster, but we have sucked, through various GM tenures, at finding the top-round talent, where the difference makers are. That's totally bass ackwards. This is the mark of scouts who specialize in finding modest talent, but have no business being promoted to general manager of an NFL franchise.

I think you've isolated the virus that causes the disease. To cure it, it appears we have to fire Ireland and bring in the best talent evaluator out there, because Ireland is just the latest in a series of GM's who can't hit on top-round talent. We need one who can.

 

First of all, have you seen the uniforms? Secondly, the Miami Dolphins are the most poorly run organization in sports. From the top all the way down to the locker room it's an embarrassment. BTW... have you seen the uniforms?

I agree. And, while I am by no means an Ireland apologist, isn't that also an indictment of the scouting department as a whole?

 

Go ask A Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys or even an Oakland Raiders fan (and that's just Pro Football) if they agree with this. I bet they beg to differ.

 

What is so sad is that 3 out of those 4 have all won multiple SB's since our last one! Time to realize what is right in front of you.

 

You could also debate that if we found decent talent in the first rounds over the last few years, our late round picks would largely be serviceable backups (in line with the actual talent for most cases). I used to think the ability to find late round talent was a net plus for the team...but now I just think it highlights how ****ty we've drafted in the main "talent building" rounds. I consider causation what was really just a correlation. Or some **** like that...
