INDIANAPOLIS — Adam Gase wants the Miami Dolphins to draft a quarterback and so they’ll draft a quarterback.
Only seven quarterbacks in college football history have ever passed for more than Falk’s 14,481. And so if you can’t have Oklahoma’s Mayfield, the man right ahead of Falk on that list, with 14,607, why not focus on Falk?
Falk said his first formal meeting with any NFL club was the Dolphins, which of course, indicates some interest.
“I really liked those guys,” Falk said. “Dan Marino was in there so I was kind of starstruck almost. It was a great interview I thought.”
Falk completed 68 percent of his passes at Washington State, with a 142.8 passer rating. The Cougars were coached by Mike Leach, who implements the spread “Air Raid” system.
That system has led to remarkable college statistics, but not much success producing NFL quarterbacks.
Falk, 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, has prototypical NFL size and possesses an efficient, quick release.
According to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, Falk “gets ball out instantly and accurately on short throws and throws in front of him,” is “able to slide in all directions inside pocket to buy additional time,” and “throws very catchable ball that hits receivers in stride.”
For Falk, the concerns would be: arm strength, decisions under pressure and injury history.

Tired of injury prone players, no thanks. Also, as a fanbase in general, one of the biggest complaints about Tannehill seems to be that he doesn't perform well under pressure.
Also, noting his passing yardage is pointless. Look at who else is above him and Baker ... it's mostly a wasteland with Case Keenum and Ty Detmer heading the list.
As a Day 3 pick sure, anything else and I really wouldn't be all that interested. -

Look at Washington States sacks given up per game. They are at the bottom of the FBS and the OL was not their problem.
Falk cannot make quick reads or decisions. He holds on to the ball way too long. His quick release and everything else is pointless if he can't decide where to throw it in time. This issue will only get worse in the NFL. Bad pick.texanphinatic likes this. -

Brother played 7 games this season with a broken wrist, never heard a peep. In fact he played 12 games in 2015, 13 in 2016, and 12 in 2017. Injury prone? Where's that coming from? He got "benched" for two games this year with that broken wrist cuz Leach is an arsehole. And he is a Gentleman and a scholar, handled the suicide of his teammate and heir apparent with supreme class and dignity. A for real LEADER OF MEN!
Don't see how you can make breaking Pac-12 records and having a 68% career completion percentage and 142.8 QB rating, without anything remotely resembling a run game or quality WRs or a below ave OL sound like a bad thing but OK???
Think about the QBs this team has picked in the second or traded a second for recently. Culpoopie. Feeeelings ohh ohh oh Feeellings, Trent Green. John Beck Ladies and Gentlemen :clap:John Beck. But it's got a Henne!? I'm missing somebody but I'm to depressed but what I just typed to care.

He could be worse or not, we have no real idea. He's been beat up and is prone to taking hits. I'm just not interested. We have better things to spend draft picks on - if we want a QB we take one early or day 3.
I get that he played hurt and handled a teammates suicide well, but neither are things that scream out that he will be successful.
And again, passing stats are just that. The article made a big deal about it in "how could anyone with those numbers not succeed!" Well, pretty much everyone above him on that list has been mediocre.

Might have the best ball placement in the class. That’s a big deal in a rac based offense.
Needs more head and eye discipline in his drop doesn’t have the arm to offset and on numbers throws if he doesn’t hold the deep middle safety in his drop he’s gonna undercut balls.
That arm will get stronger in the pros with time in the offseason program and core work which will help. Placement is excellent

I'm hoping for Falk just because it means we're not moving up and spending a pair of 1st rounders on someone that's not playing this season. Falk and Jackson....or some unknown that we're not actively tracking...are the only ones who fit that bill. I'd really like to see us go defense (or Nelson if he slides) in round 1.

I too prefer Lauletta, if they don’t trade up for one of the top four or take Jackson at 11. Personally I think Lauletta will be a very effective starter in the NFL and may end up being the best QB drafted in this years draft.
I hope they don’t draft Falk because I just don’t see him as anything more than a backup type NFL QB over the long term. Lauletta on the otherhand could quite possibly replace Tannehill as the stater by 2019.Redwine4all likes this. -
I am hoping they don't pick him just because of all the hits he has taken.Maybe a little shell shocked already.That being said they will probably pick him.
