I know people were down on the Fins and Ireland for letting him leave Miami after he visited the Rams, well, Jake has spoken.

My guess would be... Jeff Fisher. Guys just want to play for Fisher. He's a great coach.
-
-
What eva. He isnt worth the price tag.
-
does anyone with a PFF account know how he graded out this preseason?
-
Playing for Jeff Fisher is a reason, but playing in a man-blocking scheme was probably another big thing.

Jake is extremely sensitive.

I'm glad he's gone, without animosity. Earning a living based on money usually makes for a miserable human being. I doubt any difference in cash impacts Jakes life and who wants an employee who really doesn't want to be there. He gave an honest answer and I'm sure some people will rip him for it.
-
I don't think he liked playing for Philbin and I think Philbin had a little bit of a problem with the locker room last year, I think they turned on him. Philbin seems to have a very cold and emotionally detached personality that could grate on people.

Honestly I think I prefer Martin only from a cost viewpoint and in NO way equate him to Jake, but Jake has had some health issues and Martin could fare very well in addition to being young blood. I wish Jake well.
And hope this finally puts to rest the vitriol that flew around here against Ireland for supposedly letting Jake go.gunn34, cdz12250, BuffaloDolphin and 1 other person like this. -
It's his choice, I've got no problem with it. I wonder how he'll feel when Miami is winning and St. Louis isn't?

Just like Drew Brees said he "chose the Saints over the Dolphins." Uh, no, Drew...the Fins were stupid enough to not offer you a contract. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case here too. What else is he gonna say? "No, I didn't wanna be a Ram, but hell, the money was better..."

No one should be lamenting over Long after watching his play last season and this preseason.

I hope we go 10 plus wins this season just for Jake's sake.
And hope the Rams get worse than the Fisher 7-8-1 season last year, here's to 6 -10. *%$#@ you Jake I'm using your Dolphin jersey to clean the floor.
Edit : The Dolphins chose him Number one overall with the first overall pick the franchise has had since 1966 and gave him the pride and dignity to even pick him before draft day which was a big special thing in my eyes.
In return he rewarded the Dolphins with a #@%& you for nothing attitude. I'll take those millions and see you $%#@s later.
After the Rams dump his a$$ he can go protect Henne in Jacksonville for dimes. -
I don't think his quotes have anything to do with Miami, really. Sounds to me like the company line when playing for a new team, particularly when there was an either/or choice: "This is always where I wanted to be; I wanted to be a Ram." Commit to your new team, appease your current fans...not much to take from this on Miami's end, imo.

He was drafted by the failed Parcells regime and he had to put up with Sparano and Ireland during his rookie contract .Then the new coach installed a blocking system that did not suit him.
I dont blame him for wanting a change of scenery while he had the opportunity .Although we may be bitter about his choice of changing teams he did the right thing at least in his mind for himself and his family.
What remains to be seen is if he will be able to perform to the level that made him an all pro.
If he does we can lament about what could have been .If he does not we can breathe a sigh of relief.Ducken, Colorado Dolfan and djgfuq50 like this. -

Its a good thing we didn't draft Ryan.....honestly theres no sugar coating it, drafting an olineman #1overall then watching him walk away for a modest contract is just horrible. Im glad some people like to laugh about it, its about the worst waste of a draft pick you can have. When you get the number one overall pick you should be drafting a HOF caliber player or at the least a franchise caliber player that retires in your jersey. Parcells and Co. went the "safe" route and crapped out. **** Parcells.
