I really like this pick. I was going to put him in my mock, but i thought he would go earlier. He's the kind of back I've wanted to compliment Miller. He has power, but he also has good moves and can be a decent receiver out of the backfield. He's only going to get stronger in the NFL. Could be a good pick. Hope so. Miller and a good complimentary back has the potential to be pretty dangerous.

I can't help but think of ricky williams while watching him run.

dude is a legit 3 down running back with 2nd round talent.

Almost certainly would have gone in round 2-3 if not for concerns about the knee, but he obviously played well the last two years. Honestly, had you told me on Thursday morning that we'd get Parker in the first and Ajayi in the second, I'd have been excited. To get him in the 5th is damn awesome. He is a terrific compliment to Miller, and now we can pass or run, whichever is needed, as long as the OL cooperates.

I'm totally stoked Miami STOLE him in round five. Exactly what the team needed to complement Lamar Miller. Hopefully his medical checks out, but I haven't heard of anything very serious. Ajayi is by far my favorite pick of the draft. Well done, Dolphins. Well done. I don't find myself saying that much, but hopefully things are changing in a good way.

Rumor has it he has bone on bone knee issues that are going to severely limit his career. Heard as short as 3 years.

Even if we get one contract out of him it will be worth it.

I think it's also worth noting he isn't a particularly good zone runner. He ran largely behind man-blocked plays, and a lot of people have brought up how frequently he bounces those to the outside.
He's got upside and value but he's not a home-run necessarily either. -

I would guess that already having 2 seasons with bone-on-bone, he'd be lucky to finish his rookie contract...KB chime in on this yet?

When it comes to rounds 5-7, my attitude is no harm no foul. Players in this part of the draft rarely work out anyway. We had a bunch of picks to play with too, not just one. If the knee issue is serious, it was worth the gamble. If it's not serious and overblown as some say, that's a seriously nice pickup. You could make the case he's the 3rd best running back in this draft.
I will say this... If his knee is as ****ed up as people say it is, someone please explain how this kid vert jumped 39", long jumped 121", ran 4.10 20 yard shuttle, ran 11.10 60 yard shuttle? All of which lead RB's at the combine. Daniel Thomas, a 2nd round pick after a trade up, dreams of having Ajayi's knee problems. -
for where he was drafted its fine. use him for his one contract then let him go and move on to a fresh guy. If they let miller go after miller's rookie contract is up, then he's a nice stop gap till we draft more long term RB. Or if we resign Miller they will have a good tandem and his knee may not take as much wear and tear and he can last 2 contracts.

Any word on Mike Gillislee?

eh, have seen this situation lots of times, usually the player tends to over come draft blah blah projected difficulties
One caveat would be Danario Alexander who literally blows out an ACL every couple of seasons. -
Great value pick if we get anything out of him if the injury reports are true. I was thrilled to get him & still am excited as I was.

On a somewhat related note: how have we not developed a procedure to inject a meniscus or meniscus type substitute into knees and joints where bone on bone contact exits?
Or maybe they have and I am unaware.

Well hopefully he's healthy. I thought upgrading the team's RB talent was a much bigger deal than the front office and most here. I think Miller is much better as a change of pace guy than our main back, he can't tire teams out or dominate, he's just a guy IMO. I would have taken Gordon at 14 and solidified the offense instead of waiting around for someone to fall and hope that they stay healthy or pan out. I hope this kid can play and stay healthy.

Eighty-three percent of NBA players undergoing microfracture returned to professional basketball. Career length was not significantly different between players undergoing microfracture and controls. However, following microfracture, players competed in fewer games per season with fewer points and steals.

Here's an article mentioning Jadeveon Clowney's microfracture surgery.

Heard a lot of the same fears when Lacy came out regarding his issues. That he may only be a "One Contract" back. Ok, well for a 5th round pick who had 2nd round value that is more than ok. If we can get close to 4 to 5 years of productions out of a 5th round pick I'll take that any day.,
What I like about him is he will have a chip on his shoulder. He had 1800+ rushing yards and 28 TD's along with 500+ receiving and 4TD's. Come on that is insane. HGE has been used a ton in college but he will be a complement and insurance if we can't sign Miller after this season. I think the pairing of these two along with Williams as a 3rd string provides a young and solid unit. We have a home run threat, a potential grinder, and a underrated do it all. -
So Philbin says he needs to work his way up the depth chart which I agree with. BUT knowing Philbin I'm worried he is gonna waste 1 year of a potentially 3 year career. This guy needs to be #2 by week 1. Then if he shows as good as his tape he will be 1A or 1B.
Just worried Philbin will screw this upUnlucky 13 and Fin4Ever like this. -

The paper I worked on specifically addressed pain vigilance's effect on pain tolerance and severity. In basic English, we found that a persons ability to tolerate pain and the how severe they rate that pain is directly related to how much they think about that pain. IE if you block out the pain mentally you will be able to tolerate more pain and the pain you feel will be less severe. On the flip side, if you catastrophize (think the pain is going to get worse and/or never going to stop) and pay attention to the pain you will be able to tolerate less pain and the pain you feel will be more severe.
