I don't see anywhere in that statement something that suggests he's 'satisfied' with the 4s 5s and 6s. Quite the opposite. People didn't make a big deal about him saying that because we thought he was 'content with what he had', people were upset because he had gotten to that point with the franchise and thats still all he had to show for it, in that regard.

Obviously if your team has 4s 5s and 6s, you would need them to step up, should be a given. There was not one slight hint of 'content' with him and what he was talking about.... and I don't even really like Ireland... at all.

I'm saying VManis is making a distinction without a difference between the regular season and the playoffs. It's all one continuous string of football. The goal is to get to the end, not get 3/4ths of the way.

The fact he says we need 3,2,1 contradicts everything you stated. That doesn't mean he thought it would be enough. In fact it completely contradicts that notion.

 

To be fair, he did think it was enough. You kind of have to assume so. Why would any GM enter training camp knowing you only have 4s, 5s, and 6s? When balls started flying is when he realized, it wasn't.
