If there are no LBs or NTs worthy of our first I do think we take a WR there.

Nothing we didn't already know.

Everytime I see a Clayton interview I want to slap him through the TV.

He looks like an IRL Mr Mackey.

we'll do this ad nauseum again leading up to the draft, but roger - it isn't Parcells style to draft a WR or RB for that matter in RD 1 ....
i do believe this is the year we will bring in a veteran or 2 .... WR, ILB/OLB ... i'm still counting on Merriman ... and there are 3 good choices for WR -
Rounds 2 thru 4 for a back up TE?
Can't this be found somewhere else instead of the draft?
Thinking we can get better depth at other positions with those picks. -
We aren't solid enough at Guard, Smiley's shoulder is in a bad way, perhaps career threatening, DThomas has been benched at times and Garner is more a jack of all trades type.
We can easily take our pick of the best Guard in rd #1... -

Hahah you're not alone in that....

We have plenty of needs
And if Bill doesn't feel like taking a WR in round one is the right move, have to go along with it. Thus far they have been doing a fine job for the most part picking good players.
They know we have the need, so we will get one. But we also have other needs as well as some older players that need to be replaced or at least their future replacements found.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Kind of why this regime drafts em two at a time lol. First year it was guards in Murphy and Thomas and once again it was the late rounder that won out. As fans we would love to see all the picks pan out but it doesnt work that way for anyone. I still have hopes for Turner but if Hartline continues to improve at the rate he is its still a good draft for us receiver wise. :knucks:dolfan7171 likes this.

Unless he takes a top prospect in the first round, then I say don't bother......I'd prefer looking for one that's already developed anyway, in FA.
We needed a big play, red zone threat and the FO's answer was to over pay for Wilford and use 2 mid round picks on more complimentary WR's.......so far their approach has been pretty poor at best. Hope they learned something. -
I did a statistical analysis of who Parcells had drafted in each round by each team etc. I had some factoids in it, this was one of them.
Some of the conclusions were wrong, as in reality Ireland calls many of the shots. Parcells was never a fan of taking corners that high either yet he did it, or left tackles. He bypassed Walter Jones twice in the same round with the Jets.
Whilst he might not be fond, he even less fond of losing an being stupid. The team has needs, you try to fill them. Personally I say we go Gresham first round if he's there, maybe a ILB. I don't think we'll reach just to reach for a WR. -
rich you should come to NY for the draft in april.....ill buy you a beer
-
This year's TE group is thin, so I would tend to agree with you. I would prefer to see the team look to upgrade the LB unit early in the draft, but if Gresham is there when we pick in the first, I think he could be a real possibility. I'm not sure if his knee injury will put him in the second round, even if it did a team with a need at TE would surely snap him up before we picked in round two. So don't be surprised if we go TE in round one, it wouldn't be my preference though.

for you to go to ny for the draft........................

Benn Declared today, maybe he would like to join his former teammate Vontae:yes:
Jackson, Austin and Marshall will all be resigned by their current teams, I dont know about Breaston. I would trade for Boldin. -
After taking Pat White at #44 over all....nothing would shock me. I'm hoping we can pry somebody from another team that's ready to go and leave drafting and developing a WR to someone else.
-
Unless, for some strange reason THE #1 WR (Yes we all know who that is) is still available for us, I think you are dead on Con :yes:Conuficus likes this.

Somebody tell john clayton that it's ok that bill doesn't like taking wrs in the first round because tony and jeff are calling the shots. At this point bill is in an advisory role. He may reccommend someone but who is drafted is chosen by the coach and gm. Besides it was bill himself who said if they're gonna ask you to cook they should let you buy the groceries. Any extensive involvement negates that.

That's what I was thinking when I watched the clip. If Tony and Jeff think we need a WR in the first, that's who we'll take.
-
Ya know what. We're still in the midst of building a team. I still say you take Best player available in the first couple rounds unless you feel totally secure at that position.
-
I feel ya man. I screamed when we took him. Now im going to spend my time hoping they prove me wrong.

I want Golden Tate!

I know first round wide receiver's don't always pan out as we have experienced with Ginn, but when is the management group really going to get serious with getting a number 1 and 2 wide receivers on this team? How many more seasons must we suffer through before they get it? They need to really address this next year via FA or the draft. I think I saw Turner on the my milk carton this morning.
