I understand he was pulled late in the game. Anyone know who replaced him?

i think james was limping after the game so maybe he was fighting through an injury. If that was the case the hits are more forgivable

was he facing emannuel ogbah? anyone know who he was up against?

I think he also allowed Chris Long to disrupt Tammy's throw that led to Jamie Collins picking it off last week.
It sucks seeing him struggle. I like him. -
-
He was a head scratcher of a first round pick to begin with... look at that first Hickey draft, it is firelandesque.

Not sure what is up with James. He played well his rookie year on the right, but when they had to move him to left tackle he got abused. Now he's getting pushed around on the right.
Really I'm not sure what the problem is.dolphin25 likes this. -
Here is the pick and the fumble, stolen from reddit. Wows. And people here say Tannehill was under zero pressure all game.

He also, on the pick six, had pressure from the right, and pressure right up the middle. Don't like ints, and he bears some responsibility, but the line bears the majority on that play.

James seems to have trouble with bull rushers. I wonder if gase will consider moving tunsil to ROT
-
It's odd, but ever since his injury, he's been meh. Feel bad for him, because as a rook prior to moving to LT, he was really stout. Even looked fairly decent as a rook at LT. Shame. He was an absolute stud in college from what I hear.

I think James has a left leg injury of some sort, it showed when he dove for the ball after Landry's drop on the last drive of the 4th quarter.

You guy's aren't going to like this...
But on the INT Ryan had over 3 seconds to get rid of the ball and didn't. In the NFL thats about all you can ask for from a protection standpoint.
QB's throw INT's all the time, it happens. Shouldn't kill him over to, shouldn't pretend he wasn't responsible. -

You guys really want a prescient QB. You want him to be able to see the future, and maybe use the Force to feel pressure from where he's not looking. You want a guy that can see the future. I mean, when Tannehill throws short, he sucks, and plays too safe. He needs to wait longer for the routes to develop. Then, he waits, and gets mauled at 3 seconds, and he sucks, because he should have thrown short. -
So wait..you cried and cried about "all he needs is time" then he gets time and you jump to another excuse? Other than about 3 guys with questionable credibility as it is think this flip flopping and excuse jumping is anything less than pathetic.
He missed a wide open guy, had longer than most abs to get rid of the ball and failed. The fact you are TRYING to refute that continues to make you look very......um...bad I guess is as polite as I can be.
Get better. Be objective. It isn't too late.dolphin25 likes this. -
Works both ways. Can't allow pressure. Can't have your QB making hasty decisions that put the ball at risk. If the arm is in danger of being hit, don't throw it. On the play we're talking about Tannehill is sliding away from pressure and well aware it's a risky throw. He chooses to take the risk and it bit him on the ***. Simple as that.
Now, listen, don't get me wrong. Ryan's been great when he's not getting hit. You said as much in the RT17-vs-AL12 thread and you're totally on point. That's a great asset of Ryan Tannehill which allows him to occasionally shred opposing D's like we have seen here and there in his 4+ year career.
It's these couple rash decisions that we need to see go away. As great a QB as he can be at times, these are rookie-level mistakes that just leave you scratching your head. That said, I think over the course of the season they will start to go away to be honest. And more than that, virtually all QBs have days where they look totally stupid on a couple throws. I've seen it with some of the best QBs in the league. Peyton and Big Ben have both pushed the ball into traffic looking for a play that isn't there. It's a sign of confidence that actually can bode well but overall, you obviously don't want them.
Just saying we gotta be fair in regards to calling a dumb play a dumb play. -
Fin-O, you're getting crazy again.
I never said anything. I said YOU guys are crazy, and can't figure out if you want him getting rid of it quick by throwing short passes, or of you want him holding it to allow routes to develop. Our line is still not good. He's been holding it a little longer than last season, and he's getting smashed. I don't necessarily mind him overlooking a guy open short if he's trying to make a play downfield.
Heh, I've already said he bears some responsibility on that play.Fin D likes this. -
No one is saying Thill is blameless for the INTs.
All we are saying is that your guys argument is hypocritical, per usual, based on the umpteen other things you've guys have said in the past.
For example, the whole thing about "clutch"......then ignore Thill was just "clutch"....by any definition, whether it be the normal understood definition, or the one that cbrad pulled out of his butt to save face. -

I don't know that I'd criticize Tannehill as "playing poorly." I think he was a bit erratic versus Cleveland. There were some great plays and there were some bad ones. It felt like the team just struggled to execute the offense as sharply as they'd have wanted to.
Tannehill obviously didn't like his performance so it's fair to say it wasn't great. "Playing poorly" may be a bad choice of words but it's semantics to me.Tin Indian and dolphin25 like this. -

Turner didn't play well either when he was inserted. His man gave up the strip sack at the end of the 4th, and his guy nearly got to Tannehill before he could get that pass off to Landry in overtime. That was particularly infuriating because it was such a great route by Landry and Ryan had Turner's guy in his face as soon as he turned around from the play fake.
EDIT: Strip sack was James, OT play was Turner, but still.Fin D likes this. -

This is the first game I've felt like he simply isn't going to make the jump. We were ALL hoping he would build off that amazing 2nd half vs NE. Then he comes out in the home opener vs a very very bad team and IMO has his worst game of the year.
You think I don't WANT to get behind him? I do...he just makes it hard.
And to all the "3td 300 yd" guy?? If stats mattered to me? I would've been all over him week 1. But I wasn't...because he didn't play bad.

James has struggled. On some of these longer route combinations a QB simply has to trust his OL and when they let him down the QB is toast. Once the QB stops trusting his OL he becomes David Carr.
