Keenan Allen 40 times - 4.71 & 4.75

I timed Allen 1st 40 - 4.7, 1.56 split / 2nd 40 - 4.45, 1.54 split --- either way 10 split good and long speed way better on 2nd attempt

Massive variation in his 40 times at the moment.

Yea, 4.7 and 4.5 is a big difference. 4.75 and 4.71, not so much.

I'd think they would have him run a 3rd time if there was that big a discrepancy.

I have a hard time believing he was timed at 4.7 and 4.45. I am much more inclined to trust Mayock's times of 4.71 and 4.75.

Anyways reports are saying he is running routes and looks okay (although he has dropped a couple balls).

Hasn't he always been a short-area quickness guy? Not saying his 40 isn't going to hurt him, but I always figured him more of a route technician than a "outrun you" player. But he is shaping up to be more and more of just a possession receiver.

He looks like Anquan Boldin and seems he runs like him as well. Don't forget though.......don't sleep on Anquan Boldin.

Yeah, I think I'd trust Mayock over some anonymous human who calls himself DraftPanthers, who I'd put on a level with NFLDraftBytes. You want some credibility use a human name. JMO.

Well, one team is certainly going to draft a steal at WR this year.

The 40 time is mostly being blamed on the injury he's recovering from. His trainers say he's got 75-80 percent of his explosiveness back and he says 85 percent, etc. It was a PCL tear. Not sure I totally buy it, but then I'm not sure I totally buy that he's a 4.7 guy.

I think he's a 4.60 kind of guy.

Either way he is not explosive, fast, nor quick.

I'm glad. Protects us from possible stupidity at 12. Practically guarantees him at 54 though.

Not a big K.A. fan, personally. He's fine.. but we have fine already.

I don't think I can justify a mid 1st rounder on Allen. He either falls towards the end of round 1 or gets taken in round 2.

Personally I wouldn't even think about him until round 2 and likely wouldn't find him compelling enough to take until round 3.

I think if he's there at pick 2a he is ours.

His height-weight is just too deep inside Ireland and the 'Packers-template' wheelhouse, plus he is fairly ready to contribute. PLus, Ireland loves justifying things with 'up arrows' and this kid was limited by his QB, meaning there is some up arrow potential in the Pro's.

Wish I liked him.

Ireland is a height-weight-speed guy. He's not going to naturally like Keenan Allen.

height and weight boxes tick. Speed, maybe not... but Ireland will be able to look at that being why Allen didn't go in the 1st. That's why the discount.

The car is spacious, handles well... just has a lower top-end speed.

I mean, I'd love to think Jeff has learned from Patrick Turner, Ernest Wilford and Legadu Naanee... but I am not counting on it. He likes size. Now, Philbin won't be asking him for giants over 6'4", so we have to look at what a Jeff Ireland - Joe Philbin Frankenstein's hybrid would look like to please both men.

I end up with a guy 6'2" around 205, with 'meh' speed (like 4.55-4.65). Allen is little slow for that, but I think it's between him and Robert Woods for that WR pick in round two that will disappoint me.
