I wouldn't of posted this unless he used the those words, maybe he knows somethin?

Yeah he knows something. He knows how to speculate for the sake of a story.
He is just reading the stars IMO. Stars that suggest we can get by without him. Everyone familiar with our RB situation can see the same thing. The only way he signs is if he a) agrees to hometown discount b) he test free agency and realizes that the price teams are willing to spend for him are close to what MIA is offering.
We surely won't out bid anyone to keep him here. -
Oh yeah, Reggie B is outta here, in fact I expect most of our FA's to leave.
When you hear "lowball" you know what is going to happen, Ireland doesn't want to pay anyone which is one of the reasons why I think Ross keeps him around.finyank13, cdz12250 and NolesNPhinsFan like this. -
This is very much my problem with reporting these days and why I don't believe much:
La Canfora specifically said:
Then Darly, (whom I actually like, but this is bad) basically confirms the potato's premonition by injecting what he thinks makes sense for the team.
Nowhere in any of this is the nature of the source specified nor is it pointed out Darly's take is his opinion and not the truth.
Sure, Bush may be gone, but neither of these guys know that and are guessing like we do.eltos_lightfoot, oakelmpine, Conuficus and 2 others like this. -
Too bad imo, Bush's leadership and work ethic will not be easily replaced. I don't see Miller being nearly as skilled as a receiver. Makes RB position a bit thin.
Jeff "lowball" Ireland. Is there any player whether it be a Dolphin player or one from another team Ireland hasn't tried to lowball? Other than Dansby.NolesNPhinsFan likes this. -
It would be a mistake to let Bush walk if his pay demands are reasonable, which I think they would be. He made quite a few big plays last year, and if utilized properly, could further contribute some big plays while minimizing his tendency to have negative plays.

According to some we should overpay for our under-performing FA's.
I applaud a GM that tells them to screw off. Much better than GM's in the past that extended scrubs like Chambers or other under-performing guys that were elite only according to our rabid fans and nobody else.
Reggie had two stellar games last year. The rest were pedestrian. That isn't top FA money in my book. Peace out, go rob another team.
If you truly love South Florida and believe in the system, give us a hometown discount. If not go test the market and come back here when nobody gives you what you think you are worth.Ducken, eltos_lightfoot, djphinfan and 2 others like this. -

Somewhat expected this. I think Jeff Ireland really likes Lamar Miller and maybe there's something we don't know as to why he didn't more touches last year. But he looked pretty good when he did get touches, for the most part. Daniel Thomas on the other hand seems to injury prone to me, and while he did get better at scoring in the redzone, he still strikes me as pretty ineffective doing most things other than pass-blocking. People have touched on Jonas Gray's potential return from injury, but we really can't know anything until he's out there.
I wonder if Reggie's leaving means there's room for Eddie Lacy, Stepfan Taylor, or someone like that to partner with Miller.djphinfan likes this. -
I'm not a blind Ireland supporter, but attacking him because he won't back up the Brinks truck to a 28 year old running back when we have arguably 3 quality young players at the position under contract for 2013, a position widely accepted to be the most easily replaceable in the league, that's good comedy right there.

My fantasy teams want Reggie gone, hello Miller Time!
-
He's from Cali and has only been here for 2 years. I don't know where a hometown discount comes into play. -
There is a slew of players Ireland did not bother with, really the only one he went out of his way to resign was Cam Wake. -
Hmmm, so all these guys' agents got their "Dolphins low ball FA X!" stories out last week and the Dolphins respond with "Dolphins unlikely to re-sign FA X!" leaks.
This is how negotiations go every off season. It's just using the media for leverage.oakelmpine, Nomina #76, GMJohnson and 2 others like this. -
This team needs play-makers on both sides of the ball that bring it 16 weeks a year. Not RB's that rush for 150 yards one week and then combine for 150 the next 4.eltos_lightfoot likes this. -
Basically, if we lose them, we are in rebuild city. -
I don't think it's really that surprising a report. The coaching staff clearly doesn't like him that much.

Already went over which guys have been to the pro bowl out of the list, not including Hartline as an alternate.
Are we that deep that we can lose that sort of talent and still have a .500 season?
Prolly not, and we have no idea if Miller can fill the void if Bush leaves, which is yet another hole. -
Right now we have a team full of inconsistent players that have on again / off again performances. One week SS is an All Pro CB, the next week he gives up big TD's with games on the line or 3rd down conversion after conversion. One week Long is All World, the next he whiffs on a few blocks and gets Tannehill killed. One week Reggie rushes for 150 yards, the next week he rushes for 20 on 15 carries.
Elite players deserve elite contracts. Borderline players should not be overpaid. Let them test the market and let's see what happens.
Either way this is a make or break year for Ireland. If he succeeds and aquires young talent with some strategic FA aquisitions, we could be setup for a playoff run. That run will not happen if we overpay for mediocre talent, for the supposed leaders of this team that were part of the Parcell's era. -

Wake me up when free agency opens and we can actually start seeing guys resigning or leaving. Unless a player, his agent or a team rep makes a statement ... its all a bunch of hooey to me :tongue2:

My only caveat is I still want us to draft Marcus Lattimore with a late pick because I love his ability and resiliency. He'll need a "redshirt year" but Id still use a 4th or 5th on him to ensure we have ourselves a back. Between he and Miller we'd have a sick stable for years -
And I would argue that you're wrong, Lamar Miller has talent, Thomas is a quality player when healthy (quality, not all-pro) certainly good enough to be a backup, and I saw enough from Jonas Gray in college to be comfortable with him as a #3 RB, a position on the depth chart most would be fine with sliding a rookie into.
Throw a mid-late round pick into that mix and I'd call it a day. -
So be it.
The Miami Dolphins hamster wheel goes round and round. It's going to take some special draft picks and free agent signings to get us off the hamster wheel. Maybe they manage it. I have very little faith.ssmiami, oakelmpine, finyank13 and 2 others like this. -
This is the first time in our lifetime that we have a plethroa of picks and money to spend, entering the offseason.
I agree with you when it comes to having faith in Ireland to execute, but he executed for us to be in the position and let's see what happens. I prefer that the hamster wheel spins with new talent that actually has a knack for winning, not spinning in circles through mediocrity.Boik14 likes this.
