I don't think it's fair to say save for last season. Thomas looked really good those first two games.

This is a good situation for Miami.

 

Lamar Miller can create something and get yards after contact. He should be the unquestioned #2.

 

So far Miller is pitching a shutout.

Hard to go against a Rb who has natural Rb abilities.

 

I can get behind that nickname. And I agree about Reggie. Dude looks like 1 of the hardest workers in the NFL.

 

I'd go with Miller but not because I'm down on Thomas.

 

Miller took care of the opportunity that was given. Glad to see him step up.

 

I'd have to see him in another game. Remember Miller came in once Reggie already beat the hell out of them. That defense was so gassed that Lane could fall forward for 3-4 yards everytime.

 

Nonsense. Lamar Miller made the right cuts and chose the right holes and hit those holes with a burst that Daniel Thomas can only dream of.

 

It's true. Lamar miller played a lot more than most thought. Including Willcots.

I think it's unreasonable to judge it off of just 1 game each considering who we faced last week and how worn out Oakland's defense was in the 2nd half. We need to duplicate this poll half way through the season for better accuracy IMO.

BTW, It's awesome knowing our 4th round back might be one of the draft's steals. :woot:

 

Right now, IMO Thomas might be a better compliment to Bush b/c of his greater physicality..... plus he's still a threat out of the backfield.... but if Miller keeps it up he's gonna steal a lot of snaps this year. Not that I care as long as those non-Bush snaps are productive.

How about Lane pushing the defense during his few reps.

 

The absolute second Miller can meet his PASSBLOCKING responsibilities anwhere near as well as Daniel Thomas can, you start Miller over Thomas.

 

It's too bad Miller isn't returning kicks, because then you could have all three active on gamedays.

 

Then his name would have to be Reggie Busch. ;)

 

Why do we insist that the second back has to be a different type of runner from Reggie Bush? I'm sorry, but the second best runner on the team should be the second best running back. If he happens to not be a power back/bruiser/whatever and is more of a finesse runner it shouldn't make a difference.

 

I thought Reggie was the starter.

I agree. We should just be happy with having the best depth we've had in a long time.

 

It's very short-sighted to say Miller is the better complimentary back to Reggie Bush at this moment considering Miller was running against a tired Oakland defense for a good chunk of his snaps compared to Thomas' snaps last week against a better and more fresh Houston defense.

I'd probably consider holding Thomas out for another week as a precaution simply because concussions are not something to take lightly because they can come back an alarming rate if not taken serious. If Miller performs well next week against the Jets then you can probably start to consider promoting him to the second string halfback.

He's a 1 cut and go zone runner with some talent and pass catching ability, but if we need to convert short yardage & goal line stuff, Thomas has the size, physicality, and forward lean to get those for us better than Bush or Miller, hence me saying he's a better compliment.

 

Fair enough. I don't think DT is a bruiser either. He can be useful in certain situations for sure, just not so sure he is worthy of the #2 slot.

DTrain not staying healthy is not comforting, but I tend to think you need a big Rb and a small Rb.

Reggie B looked worn down in the 4th.

 

At this point, I don't think it's that big a deal. There should be enough carries to go around.

And Bush shouldn't be fed the ball after the game is basically sealed, either.

I think we had to have D. Thomas for the little 1-3 yard pick ups but we picked up Lane who can fill that role. So why not have Miller start at the #2 spot

 

Very good point. IMO ST play why Thigpen is active ahead of Miller.

 

I would like both in the game along with Bush. We need all the help we can get. Jets defense for example should be tough, so I would like all 3 along with Lane getting some.

They could deactivate Nanee or something. He might as well have been deactivated anyway haha.

 

I don't have a horse in this race and up till now wasn't really impressed with Lamar Miller.
He took advantage of a chance today.
Nice game. They gave him some reps early and put Bush on the sideline. Trying to get a feel of the rook.

 

Lamar played really well, now he should get more carries. DT needs to do a better job of finding the hole instead of running into a crowd.

 

As others have said, its a good problem to have. You can never have too much depth, and good, young, cheap talent is what good teams are built on. If Miller and Thomas can combine to rush for 50 yards a game spilling Bush, we have a situation that could take a lot of pressure off of Tannehill most weeks.

 

Against a very tired already beaten defense. There were plenty of holes to steam roll through for just about anyone. Let us not forget that DT did 13 carries for 73 yards against the Raiders poor run D of last year also.....and that wasn't at the end of the game with a gassed D. Not to mention Miller almost got RT killed in the game.

The jury is out and we need to see more of him. Let the 2 compete and see who wins.
