Chris Paul has informed his agent that he will not sign an extension anywhere but New York (specifically said the Knicks not Nets). Knicks probably dont have the pieces to trade for him but could use Billups contract to involve a 3rd team. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-chris_paul_hornets_knicks_nba_trade_120111
Superfriends part 2 is about to happen....things just got really interesting in Gotham!
Deron Williams has informed the Nets that he will not sign an extension with them:
Per Rotoworld: Deron Williams will not sign a contract extension with the New Jersey Nets and will instead play this season out prior to free agency.
Williams wasn't expected to sign a long-term extension with the Nets this season. He'll instead play out the year before hitting free agency in 2012, and the Nets have every reason to exhaust every possible option in order to entice the point guard to stay.

So it begins.

*cough*he's using the knicks*cough*
-
The Knicks don't have the cap room to take on 3 max deals.

Everyone forgets that the Big 3 took less money. Amare and Melo didn't. -

CP3, as much as I like him...is damaged goods. His numbers are down and his knee is an absolute mess. I suppose if he is playing with Melo and A'mare, he may take less of a pounding, but I would work him out EXTENSIVELY if I am the Knicks and looking to put him in the mix. They will figure out a way to get it down. Like Boik said, this has been brewing for quite some time.
As for Deron, it just makes sense for him NOT to sign the extenstion. He can get more money from the Nets, signing a new contract when this deal runs out as opposed to signing an extension. It wouldn't surprise me if he leaves either. But I get the feeling that Howard is going to end up in New Jersey, along with Deron, in time for them to field a decent team when they move to Brooklyn. I also wouldn't be surprised if AK47 winds up there either. -
We need a 2012 thread.
-
Or a "Heat will rape and pillage your teams" thread.
But that's why we have HeatFreak :lol:SICK, dolfan32323 and TiP54 like this. -
Paul's knee could eventually be an issue, especially at the tail end of the contract. I dont think it will be now. Odd how this whole thing (including CP3 being pushed to NY) was done by Lebron who initially made the suggestion that Amar'e Melo and CP3 should get together in NY.
Personally I think I like Amar'e's idea from about a month ago where he said he would prefer D12 and thinks Steve Nash would come for the vet minimum at that point. And I do think Nash would do that with Amar'e here and being that he and his wife own a house in NYC. If Phil Jackson comes as has been rumored then I think Howard could be in play if the Cp3 thing falls through.
I know the Heat's trifecta all took less money..how is that Mike Miller contract looking? Say Amnesty :) (Relax heat fans, I'm joking...I dont wish injury on anyone, just that Miller being out 8-12 weeks again is just crazy) -
Not sure why Paul would want to go that mess of a team coached by an incompetent boob. No defense, no chance, Chris Paul or not. Besides, as already stated, they don't have the cap room unless they want to put a bunch of league minimum scrubs on the floor with them.

THIS. as if I had wrote it.
Hey, don;t blame me. Blame greedy Melo and Amare.Frumundah Finnatic, dolfan32323, MikeHoncho and 1 other person like this. -

Phil Jackson, D12, Steve Nash, Bernard King, Michael Jordan, The Ghost of Red Aurbach, who else is going to New York?
Oh, and why the exaggerations?
Haslem said Miller is out 8 weeks.
The Official prognosis is 4 weeks. Why do you post 8 to 12 weeks? Why not say that he dropped dead?
AHH..a new season, and more Knick delusions. Glad to have basketball back.
I hope Paul takes 30 million less to go to NY, it will give Knicks fans enough hope, to get completely crushed year in and year out by....you know who.
If they're smart..(they are not), they pass on Paul, and go after Deron.
Or trade Amare for D12, then sign Paul. That would make them a contender.
But Paul, Melo, and Amare? MEAT.SICK, dolfan32323, #1 fan and 2 others like this. -
Well, that's interesting. Miller played in Dwight Howard's charity game in late November and said he felt fine afterward, but Udonis Haslem revealed to the media that Miller just underwent the procedure and his timetable is "about" eight weeks. It's not a good start for a player who was dogged by injuries all year during the 2010-11 season
As for Paul and Dwight, Id take Paul over Deron cause I do believe CP3 to be the better player. I wouldnt be upset with an Amar'e for Dwight deal. CP3-Melo-D12
You leave out one thing: Lebron cant beat Melo...4-12 lifetime. The Heat are never gonna win. -
-
The Knicks are never going to trade amare
-
Being a Magic fans sucks right now, lol. Dwight is as good as gone, I'm assuming. I'm keeping my eye on Anthony Davis, though.
And lol at Lebron being 4-12 lifetime against Melo. Why does that matter? Completly different teams, Boik. New York doesn't stand a chance. No one does, really.dolfan32323 likes this. -
The reason Lebron's record matters...Did you see Lebron's last game as a member of the cavs vs Melo as a member of the Nuggets? At about the 250 mark you can see Lebron crying for a quick glimpse. If you watched the game you saw it more visibly. Its not the last time this will happen. Lebron knows he cant check Melo and cant beat Melo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQJp_AoJ2cA&feature=colike -

Lebron was awful vs Dallas at the end of games. Its not the first time hes pulled that even if it was the first time as a Heat. Even Wade with all his greatness (not being sarcastic) couldnt bail lebron out of the that. -
LeBron is not clutch is the most overused statement in all of sports. I don't have the exact number, Section posted them last year, but he was right above average on LS shots. Yeah, he didn't have great finals, but he dominates Celtics, AND put the team on his back during the Chi series where DWade went on vocation.
As for "not being able to beat Mello" Boik, that's a bit of a ridiculous argument, especially out of you. They are not playing 1 v 1 here. Mello has Mare and Bron got Wade. Cmon man. -
-
Chicago is a lot different then the Knicks are shaping up to be. Chicago had 1 player that could score and relied heavily on their D. They reminded me of the 90's Knicks in that respect. -
That Knick trio of Paul, Melo, and Mare is not better than the Heat trio at ANY position. The Heat has the better player at each position, and two of the Knick guys have plastic knees. -
here are the real numbers: Head to Head.
http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketbal...players/lebron-james/comparison/11/15/211/483
first of all, where did you get 4-12?
It is 4-9. BUT. A quick look at the games..shows that MONEYLINE...Melo's team was favored in 9 of the 13 games. Kinda convenient that it worked out EXACTLY to the moneyline? Twice, the moneyline was bucked. The last two meetings.
So, you get into the head to head matchup in actual numbers:
In actual efficiency ratings, Carmelo Anthony won, his matchup 4 out of the 13 times, with one tie. So Carmelo Anthony is 4-8-1 vs. Lebron James in the actual matchup.
On the other hand, Lebron James is 8-4-1 vs. Carmelo in the statistical matchup.
These efficiency ratings? Yep, they are the ones used to calculate Winscore and Winshares.
it gets better....
In the 13 meetings...Carmelo Anthony dominated the matchup....ONCE (dominated, as in gained a margin large enough to rank in the top percentile, while the opponent ranks in the bottom).
On the OTHER HAND..Lebron James DOMINATED his matchup 8 out of the 13 times. EIGHT!!!!
This is where it gets really good...wait for it ...wait for it.....
Of all the Shooting Guards, and Small Forwards, in the NBA, there are four that out-perform and outpace their regular season production in the postseason.
The names: Dwyane Wade, Gerald Wallace, Lebron James, and Paul Pierce.
Carmelo Anthony? can't find him. Doesn't register in the top 25. Interesting since there are only 32 small forwards and shooting guards each year.
Simple FACT. Lebron James..OWNS Carmelo Anthony. Lebron James = Clutch in the playoffs. Carmelo Anthony = Not in the top 25 in production.
and now to run up the score:
The top playoff performers of all-time at small forward or shooting guard based on eff:
Top five
1. Michael Jordan
2. Jerry West
3. Dwyane Wade
4. Bob McAdoo
5. Lebron James
Carmelo Anthony, does not register.TiP54 and Frumundah Finnatic like this. -
Which is worse..Knicks delusion or Jets delusion?
By the time the season tips off..the Knicks will be over 3,900 days since their last playoff win.Lab3003 likes this. -
Anytime, anybody uses the ridiculous argument, that Carmelo Anthony outperforms Lebron James, drop this little pic on them:
