To put your cap/bonus money into Offensive Linemen and QBs... I still expect a QB on day one... A starter for 10-12 years...
Perhaps Jake Long scores the fat contract with the no.1 pick...
Or a trade down and Ryan going later..., Qbs will fall..., they always do..., and that is a good thing for us with the extra picks we have flexibility to move up or down..., each round

Until it is confirmed otherwise, my expectation is J. Beck is the starting QB in 2008 and FA and draft is used significantly to improve other areas in need of starters. I think we do draft a QB on day 2 based on our current draft slots (3rd on depth chart), and I expect we sign a journeyman QB as Becks backup but not as a starter.
-
Have heard a few Ireland comments on Beck but nothing so far from Parcells.
I think Beck stays and we get a vet QB, maybe even keep Trent Green. Build outwards from the line. I think we pick one of the Long's or most likely Dorsey whether we trade the #1 pick or not, I still see us trading down no further than that. -
-
im not sold on we have to pick a QB day 1 i mean Parcells found an undrafted gem in Romo.
-
No way we pick
A) Jake Long, unless it is with the Number 32
B) A Quarterback in the 2008 draft, unless he can punt the ball 65 yards -
I think Beck is a Parcells guy. Beck works hard, good character, will put his head down and take one for the team to go along with his abilities as a QB. I think BP will give him a fair shot at the starting job.
The team still needs a couple of QB's unless Green and Lemon stay, but I would expect to draft one in a later round. -
-
Here are my Day 1 needs:
1. QB
2. CB
3. OL
4. TE -

The issues we face are...not many good QB's in FA..and not any in the draft. There are a few that might pan out, but we have sooooooo many holes to fill, we cant spend a first day pick on any. -

Perfect:ffic::hi5:
DING DING DING... absolutely correct on ALL accounts..cept, I might actually take MLB at #32 if Connor is there...then a TE with the other 2nd.. -
I did not say these are our needs in order, but if you think we are going to win with Green, Lemon and Beck and not bring in someone else at QB, I think you are delusional. :001_rolleyes:Last edited: Jan 4, 2008 -

THe verdict is still out on Beck. I think he is gonna be just fine.
The real issue isnt there IMO it is the fact that even when our coaches KNEW the opposition was gonna run a dive right up the middle, we couldnt stop it. That is a MUCH larger glaring issue, and its one that can be corrected quicker than a QB figureing out the defense....
also, exactly WHO are you gonna draft that is coming out? You gonna take Ryan with the 1st? After that you have a bunch of guys that are mid-second round material..IMO....not any better than what we already have, and you lose a pick in the process. -
And yes the talant and depth aren't there yeah I know the story..., that's why Cam Ram are gone -

-
I understand your want for a field general, problem is, now that we are sitting at #1, there are ZERO for the taking...not in FA either..thems the breaks.
If we could score a stud OT at 32, I am all for that. Gosdar Cherilus or Otah are there.. -
Those may be your needs but not the teams! -
-
IF Atlanta Scenario pans out, I would still take whoever is left of Gholston, Long or Dorsey....
I think there is ZERO chance dallas is gonna trade...
BTW: McFadden might be lucky to be a top 8 pick -

You cannot take a QB in the first 2 rounds of this draft as you put yourself into an immediate QB contriversy. Also, this team has too many holes to double up picks like that. They should take the most valuable player that's not a RB or QB with every draft pick. -

We don't need Jake Long and he's certainly not worth the first pick- we need defense -
how about Colt Brennan here it is he is a good passer and this shows he can throw the long ball
