When asked whether the dolphins will make playoffs.
Brunell first.
''I don't believe they have the qb to get them there.''...looking into the camera.....''I don't think your qb can do it''
Ted Bruschi.
''In that 4th quarter, when tannehill has to make that play, I don't think he's the qb who can do it.''
read it.....hope it pisses you off like it did me, hope it pisses someone off on the miami Dolphins.

1). Tannehill has shown he can play clutch football in his career. So it's not like he doesn't have the ability to do it. I guess his past 4th quarter comebacks didn't happen? Or simply don't count?
2). Tannehill hasn't played in many "game on the line, 4th quarter drives" this season. Other teams had last drives opportunities. Jarvis Landry holds on to the football and maybe we beat Denver and you don't hear MB or TB talking ****. Which leads me too...
3). Aaron Rodgers, the best passer since Dan Marino, is like 6-20 something when losing heading into the 4th quarter w/GB losing. Circumstances dictate outcomes as much as ability.
4). Perception isn't always reality. Tom Brady is touted for his "clutchness." Yet, over the last few years, he hasn't nearly been so clutch. In fact, he's been average. Meanwhile, Tony Romo is the poster boy for being a choker, despite excellent performances in the 4th quarter over a long stretch of time. In fact, no one has a better QB rating in the 4th than he does.
Whatever. I don't really care what the perception of Tannehill is. He's got to perform at a high level over the next few weeks. That's that. He knows it. We know it. Hopefully Lazor helps him out, because I'm not feeling the play calling run/pass inconsistencies.Sippi, Tin Indian, Hiruma78 and 10 others like this. -
In all , big game losses this year he left the game with the lead, it was the D that couldn't stop the other team

I think it is now apparent Miami has been 'hiding' O-line deficiencies with play-calling. When things 'click', the plays pan out and Lazor looks like the second coming. When they do not, we get some of what we saw against the Jets. Though, there were some really nice ones sprinkled in there against NY.
Unfortunately, I still think losing Moreno limits what this team can do. Miami has faced some stout D-lines this year where Moreno's presence would have helped given Miami's propensity for quick passing anyway. They have not had that presence to keep a D-line at bay for that split-second to try deeper throws on earlier downs. And when it is an obvious passing down, defensive lines peel back their ears and basically win the majority of the time.
While Tannehill has improved in his awareness, sometimes there is just not much he can do because of how quickly these teams are getting through. He barely has enough time to set his feet on some of these plays.
Losing Albert does not help, as if I needed to say it again.
Honestly, I do not see why they do go back to the uber-quick passing that worked extremely well a few weeks ago. It may just be the ticket because it was tough to stop. Maybe this is the identity of this offense right now. There's really not much else to go with. Pepper in a few good runs by Miller, and your offense gets some semblance of balance.
While the rough start against the Jets was frustrating, Lazor may have held a few things back. While winning is all that matters, sometimes not tipping your hand early (ala, giving Baltimore a good sense of what to expect) may have been in the back of Lazor's mind.
Look for Miami to bounce back against the Ravens. I think they'll be able to score a good amount of points against them. Forsett has been on a tear, so they must stop that run, but their receivers do not necessarily scare anyone, although, they are savvy. I think they can dedicate another person to stopping the run, and hope the DBs can hold their own.
It'll be interesting to see if Baltimore gets away from the run if Miami gets on a lead early (I have a feeling they will). It could be a very good thing if they do. Limit their 3rd down conversions. This is frustrating.
Tannehill needs to continue with his accuracy, though there were some throws against the Jets that looked like he was playing in 2013. Limit those (hell, eliminate them altogether), and I think Miami wins against the Ravens.DPlus47 and Clark Kent like this. -
Yet he made the plays to drive us down the field and kick the game winning field goal... uh... ok.

I dont think we do either, the score should have been 24-13 not 16-13. We are very fortunate that Folk is the designated tank commander. The guy has been one of the best kickers in the NFL for years now and he misses two field goals he usually always makes.

The ability to make plays in the closing minutes of a game is what separates the elite QB's from the mediocre QB's in the NFL. This is an area which Tannehill still needs to show vast improvement if he ever expects to be considered anything but an average QB in the league.
At this stage of his career, I can understand the view of Tannehill by these two former players. It is up to Tannehill to prove them wrong going forward.dolphin25 likes this. -

Also, this garbage about Tannehill not doing enough in the fourth quarter is so frustrating. He had leads in the fourth in Green Bay, Detroit, and Denver. We lost them all. We lost them because this defense couldn't stop them. It's ridiculous the amount of vitriol thrown Tannehill's way, and the defense slides right by, with nary a comment made. I've been saying it all year, and I'll continue saying it, this defense is NOT that good. The defense is responsible for Tannehill not having three more wins. We're complaining about Tannehill's play in New York, yet the defense gave up 130 rushing yards IN THE FIRST QUARTER. They gave up 200+ in the FIRST HALF. Sure, the offense struggled too, but that defense was absolutely disgusting. Wallace dropped one of the easiest passes of all time, but I don't see much about that. I see people complaining about Tannehill, and saying he "needs to step up." Garbage. Tannehill can step up all game every game, but if the defense and receivers don't also step up, it won't matter. Here we are, almost three seasons into Tannehill. He's sitting at a 92.1 rating, with 20 tds 9 ints. Yet, here we are, still bagging on Tannehill. Face it people, there is more to winning than the quarterback playing well. Some people can't see the forest for the trees.Springveldt, DOLPHAN1, Disnardo and 5 others like this. -

I know, it is crazy to ask the offense to run out the clock, my bad!
I agree the Denver loss was all on the defense..
I would think the progession would be deep ball first and work in closer with progressions. Makes little sense to go short first and work to deeper routes..... no check downs that way. -

It is crazy that you blame the offense for not stopping the Detroit Lions on their last possession, and it's crazy that you are blaming Tannehill and the offense for allowing a 3rd and 15 to be completed for big gain, and a 4th and 10 to be converted, and a fake spike allowing a receiver to get to the sideline, all in the Green Bay Game. It is crazy. Sure, it would be nice if the offense didn't allow the defense back on the field, but the fact is, that the defense was on the field PROTECTING A LEAD in all those games, and folded like a wet paper bag. The fact is, this defense is supposedly elite, which our offense is not. If there is one group that should be counted on, it should have been the defense.SwampChomp likes this. -
It varies by play call, match up, and situation, but you typically always throw it to the first open receiver in the progression. If he is open, hit him. Don't wait and hope. Especially as poorly as this line is currently blocking. Gruden mentioned this the other night saying "you go through your progressions. When a receiver earlier in the progression is open, you throw it. You can't see everything."
Tannehill got a lot of heat for throwing the 20 yard downfield strike to Sims prior to Landry coming open on a blown coverage. That was unfortunate, but that is the way progression football reads work. The checkdown/quick out/rush read is to avoid the pass rush.resnor likes this.
