McDaniel/Grier Interview with Travis

not sure I learned anything, but glad they did that

I wonder if Travis noticed the Don watching him thru that whole interview? Or if McDan saw him looking over his shoulder? For all of our sakes I hope both of them felt that.

McDaniel seems too beta to me. Too much of a yes man. If we are going to be successful he is going to have to impose his will on Grier. If Grier is still calling all the shots we will continue to be screwed.

exactly why he was hired Grier still has the power position and will for the next few years.

I hope it works out I mean I already feel we have a better coaching staff than we had over the last 10 years.

However his character makes me think and feel some harder players are not going to by into him as a man’s man or leader.

I mean no one else interviewed him from what I gathered. Might be a reason?

That interview makes me a little nervous- McDaniel complimented Grier a few times too many while also not saying much of value. I know we've heard how smart he is but I didn't see any of that in this interview. There was one point where Travis said "working until 10 PM" and I think he added "like now", so maybe this was late-night and McDaniel was just tired.

I like him. Looking forward to seeing what he can do. He is a coach I would want to play for.

I think he’s probably one of those coaches who is super smart with formations and football but outside of that he’s a little aloof.

He complimented the GM who hired him and he is going to work with? Oh the huge manatee.

McDaniel was hired to be a do-boy who’ll keep his mouth shut and take orders. Everyone was really excited about all the changes made but not me as I’ve seen this movie before too many times. Flores lost a power struggle and was too much of an alpha for a schmuck like Grier so he replaced him with a guy who looks like he stocks shelves at a Barnes & Noble.

Flores isn't an alpha. He's a whiny baby. He's a take the basketball and leave kind of guy.

He has said more than any coach I have seen as a fan of the Miami Dolphins. I know more about his approach to coaching and what he is going to do to build the team and how he is going to work in the last month than I have learned from all coaches who coached before him combined.

Not insulting the owner of your organization is generally a good way to not get fired.

Also, about the GM, Grier is part of the Patriot way in keeping everything silent. So, I don't know where you are getting this idea that he will keep his mouth shut as he has talked more than any new Dolphin head coach, and that is a HUGE change over the comfort zone of Grier.

Some people want him to come out and say Grier and Ross suck. It doesn't get more more illogical than that.

Dave Wannstedt had his own radio show 20 years ago and he was fired and loudly dismissed by fans as a professional clown. Going on a media tour and talking a bunch of babbling shit means nothing to me.
