McKinnie update

CrunchTimeretired_adminOPBryant McKinnie was at Dolphins practice today. He did not line up with first teamers in a team drill (Tyson Clabo remained the starter). The big question is, assuming McKinnie works his way into the starting lineup, whether he’ll play left tackle (where he’s played his entire career) or move to right tackle.
McKinnie didn’t participate in any team drills at the media portion of practice. But in an offensive line drill, McKinnie was lined up on the left side and Martin was on the right.
McKinnie and Coach Joe Philbin will talk later this afternoon.
Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, who did not play on Sunday, was at practice but did not participate in team drills during the media portion of practice.

It was speculated that Martin was playing out of position at RT last year and that he would be more effective at his natural position of LT .
I think we know by know that there has not been any marked improvement so we may as well put him back at RT and Mc Kinnie at LT.
Clabo could be employed at the ticket entrance at the turnstiles which is his natural position.

Agreed. We need to put max pressure on Brady to even have a chance. We're averaging 22.5 points per game, so we need to keep NE to 21 or under.

if that's true, then we should just keep stuffing him. Get the guy up to 450 so that it takes so long for the DE to run around him that it would be the same as real pass protection.

I don't like that idea at all. IMO, he should start this week. He's been playing so he should be in game shape. I think he can learn the playbook well enough to be an improvement over Speed Bump.

McKinnie says he weighed in at 364 during his physical with Miami, wants to get down to around 355.

McKinnie will be our LT for the Patriots game. Its not rocket science. Team isn't going to show anything during the period the press is allowed in there or say anything but you can bet the ranch Bryant McKinnie is now our starting LT. Clabo goes to the bench where he belongs.

ExplosionsInDaSkyforum_veteranI just can't believe it's come to this. I didn't expect Clabo to be as bad as he's been. He wasn't even a concern for me when I looked at our offensive line before the season started. I thought for sure that Pouncey, Richie, and Clabo would be the mainstays with Martin and of course Jerry being the question marks. Oh well I do think Mckinnie is an upgrade over Clablow, and it sounds like a good idea to keep him at left tackle and just move Martins dumb ass back to RT. Need to not try and re-invent the wheel with this situation and just keep it simple. Two upgrades with one player and a switch to the other side? Lets try it. After that we can throw Dallas Thomas in there in place of Jerry.

Steve Ross, if what was reported is correct, meaning he sandblasted Philbin and Ireland after the loss to Buffalo and demanded that something, anything be done, speaks with our voice. Why we have stood pat with this offensive line up to now, with five preseason games and six regular season games of total ineptitude, is unexplainable. I guess fear of immediate consequences trumps fear of admitting you were wrong.
