He's alright yeah. It fills a need and I think we have more options with the first few picks we have now.calphin likes this. -

I won't speak down on this guy until we see what Bowles can get out of him.
-
This guy is filler and an avg. option better suited for situational rather than starting. I still strongly feel we'll go CB within the first 2 rounds. -
we are still going to draft a CB early at the least 3rd round i am hoping we get Mike Mickens or Domonique Johnson CB jackson state
-
He is from Clewiston,FL, graduated with my sister. Maybe being closer to home he might affect him so, who knows. At least we'll have some veteran presence, and he is young so that is good as well.
-
Doesn't make CB a strong part of the personnel, though we're at least not desperate anymore.
I'd compare his arrival to Goodman's and Will Allen's. Guys that came in with the 'average' label, but were well coached and played solid.
He's young, so thats a plus. With the coaching staff we have in place now to develop him, I'd grade this sign as good and necessary. Now I hope we draft early another CB, so next year we're confortable at the CB position. -
At this point im elated we atleast got someone with some experience. Jason Allen and Nate Jones being the veterans of the group (minus Will) scared me.

Guys this was exactly the type of signing that Goodman was in the first place. A marginal guy going into his prime.
But then why bother talking when all folks do is look at the stats and think that's the end all be all.USArmyFinFan and MrClean like this. -
Too little to late and now the Fins have backend into getting him..
We will draft a corner watch and book it..
First real letdown for me from the F.O. Waiting for the bottom feeders when studs were available. -
Guys, Eric Green is a good guy. His tackling skills are awesome, and his run defense is among the best in the league. His coverage skills on the other hand are downright BAD. He gets beat 99% of the time, I have even watched him fake an injury after being juked off of the line. He is a great person on and off the field, but his coverage skills, and skillet hands are what had him dropped to our number 5 Cb behind Ralph Brown...... seriously he is good enough to play in run formations, but he SUCKS in pass coverage.
-
I don't know. I have a different perspective on the Green signing. It fills the position of need and probably cap friendly and when we do draft that cornerback it won't be necessary to cast him to the wolves right away he can be eased into the position. We could get lucky in two ways, if Green turns out to be better than expected and, or if the rookie comes out of the gate playing better than expected. The guys on Serious NFL radio said that Green was a good cornerback. Not a great cornerback, but a good cornerback who might improve. I kind of think the trifecta see something about him that some of us don't.
-
Hopefully this Eric Green signing turns out better than the first one.
-
-
Well, we needed some warm body back there. But yeah, this seems desperate. They should have ponied up the money for a good cover corner.
-
They could also know something about the guys we already have.
Just because we don't know them doesn't mean they are in the same position. -
who?
-
Yeah, he's an average player but maybe with a change of scenery and better coaching he can improve now that he's entering his prime.
I still think drafting a corner with the first 3 picks is a near guarantee. -
:woot: finally a CB.
Doesnt appear to be the greatest of players, stats wise anyways. But im sure if were successful in finding pass rush this year, im sure he's going to look as good as goodman last year. I wish Green's INT numbers were alot higher though, I'd love to see our DB's come up with more picks this year. They did a good job last year, but i want more! -
I wouldn't get too caught up in Green's history of having stone hands and not being able to pull in the INT.
First go read CK's latest blog.
http://universaldraft.com/3_12_2009_CK_s_Blog.php
Then think of Will Allen up until this past year under Bowles.
If anyone can teach Eric Green how to get those INTs it's Todd Bowles.
....."Is Bowles a miracle worker? Having coached Roy Williams into 10 interceptions in 3 seasons, some would insist yes. All kidding aside, he still couldn't get any interceptions out of Yeremiah Bell, so no he is not necessarily a miracle worker. But with Eric Green having issues spotting the football in the air, he will be coached by a secondary coach who has a reputation for helping his defensive backs do exactly that.".........
This is a great read for those who are (understandably) hesitant to embrace this signing as significant.calphin likes this.
