He seems to have a lot of respect from players and foes, but do the Fins try and tame him?
Part of what makes him good in my eyes is not knowing what he is going to do (Like the Fasano pass)
Thoughts?

Why change what you fell in love with as a orginization that made you trade for him?!

Further evidence IMO Pennington is the perfect QB for Sparano. They want the tame guy. I don't think they set up their team for their players. Rather than make a player adjust uncomfortably, why not put him in the best position to win with his skillset?
-
they're taming him the way romo was tamed, the way favre was tamed, the way vince young was tamed. he wont succeed if he plays like a wild man. on a possession here or there sure but not over an entire game. remember last year?

Thigpen definitely has talent to lead this team. Here is a write-up that I posted on my NFL blog last night about him:

Included in that article is a hilarious link from Deadspin.com from a couple years ago. Enjoy! -
With the Dolphins Tyler now has 3 INTs in 20 attempts. Of course he needs to be tamed.

Mike Vick, by his own admission is 10 better as a QB now than in 06. Why? Because he works harder, studies more, is more worried about playing in the system, and improved his accuracy. In short he has been "tamed" as the word is being used here. So the Vick comparisons proves exactly the opposite of the point you guys are trying to make.

Pretty hard for Vick not to improve as a passer since he had horrible mechanics in Atlanta.
On a short week its tough to create a game plan to suit his skill set but you have to do what your QB does best. That was the entire reason for starting Pennington wasn't it? We'll see how well they adapt to his strengths on Thursday night. -
He is reckless though.

The biggest problem with the Wildcat is that Ronnie Brown can't throw. Does it make sense to try to create a wildcat with Thigpen at tailback and Brown and Williams at wingback? Probably not now that we're down to one quarterback, but it seems like something you'd consider if Henne was healthy.

Yeah at this point I'd say you have to let him play his game. Hopefully he'll take care of the football a little better than he has in the past, but in the end I think we'll see Thigpen play the way he best knows, whether thats good or bad we'll just have to see it play out the rest of the year I guess.

not enough time to re-tool a QB. it is what its & apparently, that is a good thing

Also said people are putting the cart before the horse
Also said that Henne played pretty good yesterday. -
the hen has been measured & found wanting. we can turn the page in that chapter of the book. let's see what Tyler has to offer.
-
Espescially considering that 24 hours ago Henne's "pretty good" had been deemed not good enough -

The exact same game that Henne played yesterday was the same game deemed not good enough by this coaching staff approximately 96 hours ago. Now it was a "great game".
Please, enough with the coach speak. Either admit you were wrong to bench him in the first place or announce you're playing Thigpen.DolfanJake likes this. -

Henning is our OC for ****s sake, of course he's going to tame him. If Henne has to miss games, hopefully the few who are unable to realize how terrible Henning has been here, and everywhere else, will start to realize when we still suck with a different QB.

Like I said in chat, Thigpen was effective partially because the coaches hadn;t ****ed him up yet like they did with Henne.
Wait til they get their hooks into him.
"Don't make mistakes."
"Don;t take risks."
"Only do the thing you're supposed to do."
"Don't hurt us."
"Don't lose the game."
Give it a month, and if Thiggy is still starting you'll see some of that instinct turn into the unsureness and hesitation Henne started to develop.
