PALM BEACH, FLA. — With the Miami Dolphins apparently intent on keeping the #1 overall selection, indications are strong this evening that the Dolphins are nearing an agreement with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons, who appear set to draft Matt Ryan #1 overall, could agree to the terms of this deal within the next few days. The terms are yet to be known; but are believed to include a 2nd or 3rd round selection in this year's draft, as well as a first day selection in 2009.
It appears that the Falcons have been attempting to trade for this pick for much of the offseason. Atlanta wanted to take things slow, but Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland made a compelling case this morning for why the Falcons don’t want to wait to make this trade.
This is an awesome deal, IMO. We get better value by trading down, and pick up 2 first days picks. I'll take the deal 10 times a day. Now if we can just trade JT for a 1st or 2nd. The draft is how long away again?
