Ok I get that everyone is feeling pretty good about the offseason but now thigpen says he is going to break Hesters return TD record ?...its starting to sound a lot like the Jests circa 2010 and Im not really digging it.

I've not seen Thigpen's comments, but both Hartline and Pouncey said they thought we were going to be good this year but realised they needed to prove it on the field...which is fair enough. It's the offseason, everyone's looking for a story, and getting one of the Dolphins to do a Vince Young is an easy way for them to get a story.

Hell Pouncey, said they need to prove it on the field, for crying out loud.Frumundah Finnatic, brandon27, MikeHoncho and 10 others like this. -

You're saying if you actually watch what they said, you'll see they said nothing wrong, but they should stop giving the media ammo. They didn't give the media ammo, the media fabricated ammo and they would have done that regardless of what Pouncey or Hartline said.
This is precisely why Saban and Parcells and Bellicheat hate the effing media and have lock downs on them.Pandarilla likes this. -
All I am saying is that right now at this point it might be prudent to zip it until the games start getting played...the Dolphins are coming off a 7-9 season and have had a "good" off season IMO its probably time to stop making predictions period because its going to start looking bad and might even start giving the other teams in the division some emotional ammo...not saying its already happened just that it needs to stop before it does.

LOL Thigpen

Sounds like they are all personally striving to be better. You say talking ****, I say goal setting.

The exact quote:
“My goal is to get at least seven returns for touchdowns on kick returns and punt returns combined,” Thigpen told the team’s website. “I want to do something that’s never been done before and anything’s possible.”
How outrageous.STColeridge and Stitches like this. -
Thigpen didn't say anything too extreme either. All he said was his goal was to score at least 7 return touchdowns. His main job is to return kicks, he should have goals like that.
There has been nothing wrong with what any of these guys have said. They understand they have to prove it on the field. This is absolutely nothing like the early Rex Ryan Jets teams.STColeridge and Fin D like this. -

Look, they didn't say anything wrong. Who cares what other people think? The truth is the truth here and the truth is they were more humble than cocky.STColeridge likes this. -

It's not 2010 Jets'esque, but I like the Patriots approach better. They hardly ever say anything.
Hartline's comment's weren't outrageous. Sensible. But still, better to just let the play on the field do the talking. It's not his fault. Who is Brian Hartline? Nobody would get that much play out of such a comment except for the fact there is Tom Brady and the Jets to talk about.Stringer Bell likes this. -

*edit*
Like Maybe coach says something simple at the next practice..."no more predictions please"..you can give plenty in an interview without predictions. -

You are over reacting. You are basically justifying the media's lies right now. -

would we rather when asked about his goals for the season, thigpen say, "meh, I'll probably be about average this season?"
Fin D likes this. -
Except, that is not what he said. He said its his "GOAL" to break the record. What else do you want him to say? I hope I can score one td this year? He should feel like he has the ability. This isn't even close to what the Jets were saying....they were making claims of winning Super Bowls. How is this even similar?
-
Exactly.
-
What is "emotional ammo"? Does it affect how teams play?
-
-
-
ROFL. Oh, okay. -
The off season is the time everyone in the league thinks they are playing on the team who will win the Super Bowl. That is expected, because you certainly wouldn't want the players on your team saying, "we suck and we will be lucky to win a game this year".
I like the positive talk by the players, but I still don't see this team being better than an 8-8 team in 2013. -
What would you prefer his goal be? 55 carries and 250 yards? High expectations are nothing to be leery of. I think many of you fans are suffering from battered fan syndrome. This is a young team, let them set their goals. I think its a good thing. -
It's good to aspire for greatness...STColeridge likes this. -
