Im really torn on this one. I think he could be a great addition here, if he plays hard. Marshall, Moss, Bess. That's almost unstoppable. Problem is, what Randy wants is some "longterm" security by way of a contract. Thinking that, I don't see Randy wanting to be here. I honestly think if he's claimed on waivers, its well before our slot. If he hits free agency, he goes back to the Pats in another orchestrated move by them.

See here is where I disagree....
I think Randy Moss would want to be part of this organization. Randy seems to respond when he is with a quality program....I think because we have a bunch of football heads here....he would respond well. Its a new challenge to him...
Dont discount the impact Chad Pennington is gonna have on him. Not so much because Chad is gonna be his QB...but Chad's views on our program will have some meaning to Moss.HULKFish, FinFan_Est.1984, late again and 2 others like this. -

THERE IS NO RISK TO GETTING RANDY MOSS. If he becomes a cancer, he isnt here long enough to make a difference. You dont have the oppurtunity like this very often...gettting a Moss talent for just his salary....in the middle of the season.Pariah likes this. -

Think of it this way: we are pretty close to the patriots and jets right now. The possibility of him joining one of them scares me that the gap becomes too wide. Worst case scenario if he misbehaves, put him on the inactive list

Well, Armando can say anything and it doesn't particularly matter, so what if he is wrong?
The story goes Moss wanted to stay behind in MA after the Vikings loss to "be with his family" meaning he did not fly back on the Vikes chartered plane, add in ripping the Vikings and you can see why he was released.
However, he also has a home in Boca, so tonight let's see if he is at the Heat game imo that is more of indication of Moss's intentions than anything Salguero can speculate.MikeHoncho, SeanP and MarinePhinFan like this. -
I'm with brandon, I'm completely torn on this. You can't deny what he brings to the table, and he would open up our offense even more. On the other hand, well, you guys already know.

I think its worth the risk. My only worry is that Henning would continue to be conservative and then we'd have not one but two Porches we use to get groceries.

I was 80% for the move BEFORE I read that. Now I could care less, and wouldn't be pissed if we didn't even put a claim in for him. How sick and disgusting. Arrogrant prick.DHPVW likes this. -

The Patriots got rid of Moss despite not having anything resembling a replacement. The desperate for WR help Vikes dumped him less than a month after trading a 3rd round pick, and not having anything resembling a replacement. That tells me all I need to know & I wouldn't touch the guy with a ten foot poll, unless I was playing Madden.

He's being used quite a bit more aggressively down field than he was in Denver, to boot. He played in a West Coast Offense under Shanahan, and he was used basically in Wes Welker's role under McDaniels. -
I agree with you, he's being used, but not to his strengths.PSG, SICK, GMJohnson and 1 other person like this. -

I was just talking about his YAC, not that he isn't being used. His strength is his ability to break tackles and gain yards after contact. Pinning him on the sideline and running dig routes between 3 defenders, while it does get him the ball, doesn't give him the best chance to do what he excels at.

Why do you act like I'm disagreeing with you? I'm not. I'm just saying that there could also be other ways to utilize his strengths.

Yes. :headscratch:

IMO, you can never have enough quality players and Moss is just that... You have to take a look at him.
-
i guess what we are saying is, marshall has the #'s, but he (if used more to his strengths) could get even bigger/better numbers more effectivley. and more tdsDePhinistr8 likes this. -
If Moss clears waivers, I would sign him as a FA, if he clearly WANTS to play here, what a tandem we could have in him and Marshall with Bess in the slot. There are a LOT of NFL players I would not let into my home or introduce to my daughter, but would love to have them on our team. (And don't even think of saying I'm being racial here, has nothing to do with my statements.)
