I'm not one to do mock drafts because I'm pretty awful at them but thought I'd give it a shot. I hope Gish doesn't mind that I used his draft order.
NOTE: Some of the notables are missing such as Terrance Cody, Ebon Britton, Gerald McCoy and Colt McCoy and that is because I have them going back to school.

I see you like my tackle thoughts on philadelphia but don't like my moving around the safety ideas.
That's fine :shifty:
It's good to see you putting up a mock I've been wondering all this time. -
Interesting. I don't know much about the guy slotted in our pick, I haven't followed college ball as closely as usual this year.
What really stands out to me is having Harvin so high. I know he is an extremely gifter athlete, but I don't think he is really polished as a WR. That and injury concerns. -

Also, Boomer, you know I'm not putting Jerry Hughes in the mock because of your post in the upper level. I'm very high on him as I made a post about him here right after I watched the TCU/Boise St. tape, saying I was high on him. I was placing the players with the teams and I had Jerry Hughes left over. We all know we need an OLB convert and he's one of my favorites so I slotted him in there. I'm not sure how believable that's going to sound to you but its true. I'm not here to take others work and/or copy it.
Also, no Jairus Byrd in the first round on mine because I haven't seen him play. -
Nooo you have to do one right before the draft too just so we can compare and see how much it's changed

Wish I wouldn't have forgotten Sintim though. I'm trying to think of a place to slot him in lol. And thanks. -
It's not that sad about Hughes man lol. I get all geeked up about him too in a Fins uni. The havoc him and Porter could wreak. If we could come back with a NT, WR, S, and CB would be great. Pernell Phillips, the guy Boomer has talked up, would be interesting. I would love to nab Rashad Johnson in the 2nd. Same goes for Kevin Barnes. -
C'mon, man, if Oakland can constantly draft players they have never seen play, then you can of course include players you have never seen play.
Not a bad job at all, Alen. Personally, I don't get the fuss about Maualuga and I will go on record saying the team that drafts Smith in the top 10 will eventually be very sorry for it but I like the matchups. Curious that you have Taylor Mays going that high. I've seen USC last night and that hit he lay on the poor Penn State receiver will get scouts drooling. I didn't pay a lot of attention to him in previous games (and I tend to ignore USC games because I find Americans dessing themselves up as Romans and pretending to be Trojans very silly), so my question would be: Can he cover? Size, speed and hitting seem to make him a perfect Tampa 2 fit. -

Still not sure why everyone is so hyped for Bradford over Stafford. Beanie Wells that low? Not sure about that. Someone would crap their pants if he was still around that low. AP2 he is imo.
And I know about Parcells not liking CBs, but passing on Vontae at that point imo would be a tough call. -
Stafford looks bad this yr. He would be best served to stay another year in school. He looks out of shape, in the biggest games of the yr, Alabama, and yest. Bowl game he all but dissapeared.
-
Chris Wells is an injury waiting to happen. I love his talent, I think highly of him but he does get injured - often. He's suspect in receiving out of the backfield and he's put it on the ground.
Vontae Davis is a player that I am not big on. I know others are but I'm not. I don't see a premier cornerback when I watch him. He's no Sean Smith. I have questions regarding Davis' ability to play man to man, long speed is a question mark, he jumps a lot of routes and he disappears quite often. Not to mention the character question marks he has.
EDIT: Should have read Boomers post first instead of blabbing. -
I'm a huge fan of Glen Coffee and I could see him going higher than people imagine. Be interesting to see where Shanahan ends up or if Denver stay with the same system because he's a very tough inside runner that reminds me of Clinton Portis with a one cut and bang style. I could envisage a scenario where a team looked at Chris Wells and looked at their own system and leapt for Coffee.
-
I think SYSTEMS might mean that would happen. Not every team by any stretch. But if the Mike Shanahan Broncos were picking 32nd and Wells and Coffee were there and they needed a back.....I know who'd get picked and it wouldn't be Beanie.
Systems dictate a huge amount. We overlook that a great deal. -
San Francisco needs a playmaker and Maclin is just that. It may be a bit early though.
Its the Oakland Raiders. Al Davis is in love with numbers, combine numbers to be exact and Johnson may be a big combine number guy. I know he hasn't produced as much as hoped and is still living off that 'potential' tag but the Raiders need a defensive end and Al Davis is about as smart as my right pinky; mind you, I'm left handed. -

Nice work alen.
What do you think of Shonn Greene's draft stock? Personally I think it was stupid of him to declare this year when he's likely to be drafted in the 2nd to 3rd round in my opinion. I don't see him being a workout warrior at the Combine and that won't help him one bit. Personally I think another year in college could have helped his draft status in 2010 and then really hauled in the $$.. -
Nice sig, by the way. Your work?GridIronKing34 likes this. -
That is a good mock this far out Alen, my only quibbles are:
1. KC won't go Qb at #3, they just set the NFL record for fewest sacks in a single season, by 8 missing sacks.
2. Doubtful Cinci goes Rb, they more then likely will resign Benson and then go Wr....like Macklin..
3. Did Buffalo resign Jason Peters?
4. Denver might go DT, Robertson was not very good this year.
All in all a pretty good mock, but the All Star Games and Combines are a long way off. -
-
I hear about the Beanie injury concern. AP had them as well when he came out. I think anyone who gets him afte pick 5 will have the steal of the draft.
-
I think they did resign Peters, but not 100 on that. Even still, he played absolutely terribly this year. Him in the ProBowl is as much a laugher as Favre, maybe more.
-
If they do, no way they go Qb, a coach catching the glimpse of a pink slip is not going to take a guy that will be a player 2 years later.
This draft is so Tackle Rich, you would be better served going Wr or other impact position and take a Tackle at #37 or whatever.
And keep in mind Aqua, the Benglas Wr corps, specifically Ocho Adios, was injured an unproductive most of the season..Caldwell and Simpson didn't produce...plus losing TJ Whoseyourdaddy...you have to give Carson Palmer something to work with, or it will be another long year in Cinci. -
If they go into 09 with the same front 7, they will lose big again, and that is why they will avoid a developmental player.
And don't underestimate the "desperate Head Coach" factor, Marvin Lewis and Herm Edwards have on foot on the banana peel already...they will want guys who can contribute Right Now. -
