According to PFT.... Not interested really myself, unless he's being looked at to replace thigpen as a returner. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/03/nate-burleson-to-visit-dolphins/We've got Matthews and Gibson, and what's up with Binns ?

I think our depth at WR is more than fine, I see no reason to bring in Burleson since I can't think how he would crack our top four.

He's garbage on the field, completely diminished skills, old and looking to make another mill before he goes to his tv job, which mentally he's been at for a couple years now, complete poser off, tries to act like he's some kind of leader, also, tries to act black when he's around black people, and I'm serious as a heart attack..indictment on the evaluation process if this is true..

Our WR corps could use a TC mentor type.

We only have around 60 players on the roster right now. We need closer to 90 to run a full off-season program.
You can't pick up 30 players solely in the draft or with FA rookies. Got to add competition as well.
I think the Rodgers and other signings will be just that. I wouldn't put to much stock into most of these signings anytime soon.Claymore95 likes this. -

He's a vet leader. Gives motivational speeches. Brings energy to the team. I'm surprised you all hate him so. This team needs vet leadership.

He literally changes his whole personality when he's around young brothers, to the point where he's trying so hard to be accepted as one of them, voice changes, slang/vocabulary changes, body language..
That team has been the poster child team for a lack of accountability and poor leadership..
He's a poser who tries to act like a leader, that's his shtick. -
Plus, the guys game is toast..why the hell would we be bringing in some washed up 32 year old injured receiver.
Tells me that someone isn't to hip to the game on our staff if they can't sniff this poser. -

Lol..we'll see...
33 years old before the season...missed 16 games the last two seasons..the self professed leader of a team that has had more disfunction, and more underachieving relative to talent, than any other team in the league..fired coach, not resigned, and yet some don't get where I'm coming from..These are all things that are plain to see..
On top of all that, He seeks the camera, he acts in front of it, he knows his time is near the end, so he seeks it more and more,In a game or a situation that requires authentic emotion and realness..he has neither. -

I think Deej is referring to this type of behavior. lol

Wow I'm a bit surprised at some of the nonsense being spewed about Nate in this thread.
I'm a Lions season ticket holder. I've spoken with Nate Burleson personally numerous times. He actually sat at my table at a Lions dinner charity event and rode in the back of my bass boat for 8 hours in a Lions charity fishing event.
Nate is one cool dude. He's a good guy and very genuine. He's a very vocal leader and a media favorite. He's always good for a great media quote. He loves the camera and is hoping for a TV career after football. He's a well respected team mate and was used by the Lions to mentor young players. He mentored Titus Young and kept Young grounded and inline. After Nate broke his leg catching a ball over the middle in 2012 he went on the IR and Young took a turn a worse. All the younger players on the Lions team look up to him. Nate's one of the last players to leave the practice field and always willing to spend time with fans. He's a great locker room guy and was instrumental in bringing leadership to a 0-16 Lions team that lacked leaders.
As for his injuries a broken leg over the middle in 2012 and a broken arm in a car accident in 2013 is why he missed time. He's not injury prone by any means.
He works hard and has NOT slowed down at the age of 32. He had nearly 500 yrds last year in 8 games. Nates been forced to play the slot WR role for the Lions the last 4 years because of injuries to other positions. He's good enough to play both outside and the slot. He's an excellent route runner and is a very sure handed receiver but he's better in space then he is in the slot. A 1000yrds receiving from the slot position is pretty good for any NFL receiver and he could have done that had he played a full season. If Nate is signed by Miami I wouldn't be shocked if he lead your team in receiving yards.
I am absolutely confident that Miami is looking at Nate for his locker room leadership. Nate and Delmas were two of the biggest leaders on the Lions and they both will be surely missed. Neither will be easy to replace.
I like Nate he's one of my favorite Lions players. I hope he is signed back on as a Lion but with the signing of Golden Tate I'm thinking its highly unlikely.
If your team signs Nate you will be getting a great player and team mate.unluckyluciano, dolfan32323, and 2 others like this. -
I heard you talk about Delmas being a great player?, your thoughts. -
No offense but I've watched every game Nates played in the last 4 years and his game has not declined one bit.
You can believe what you wish about the man but he's nothing like you've described.
Theres a reason Miami targeted both him and Delmas and that's because of their leadership qualities.
As for Delmas please see the Delmas thread as I have posted about him there.

No disrespect ... But I completely disagree with your stance on Nate.
I know I'm new here and I'm not looking to get into a pissing match with a long time poster and im trying to be respectful but... I must set the record straight when it's so far from being remotely accurate.
I've watched every game that Nate has played for the last 4 years and most games prior when he was with SEA and MIN. Believe me or not but I know him about as much as any fan could possibly know. I'm a fairly well connected fan. I attend every Lions function. When i was in my young 20's I volunteered and worked at the Silverdome as security for the Lions - I'm now in my Mid 40's so it's safe to say I've been around the Lions organization A very long time. I have friends that still work inside the Lions organization and I'm still to this day asked to help out with functions at times.
Nate is nothing like you've described and his game has not declined any in his 4 years in DET. In fact I think he's improved drastically and became a much more rounded WR.
In MIN and SEA Nate played most snaps in the X and Z WR positions where he had the luxury of operating in space. DET under Linehan played an 11 Personelle offense about 80% of the time. We asked Nate to play both The slot and Z positions during preseason and his intended spot was always the Z position which Nate is ideally suited for. Unfortunately 3 of Nates 4 years here he was forced to move to the slot because of injuries early in every season. Nate became a more rounder WR from being forced to play multiple roles. As a result his blocking and route running improved over the course of time he was in DET. He's the best blocking WR we had.
Some fans seem to think Nates slowed down some speed wise but he really hasn't lost much in the speed dept. I think he just took some time to come back from the leg injury. Last year I compared his tapes from game to game and then compared them to 3 years prior. He really hasn't lost much speed at all.
Nates a good guy, well liked in the Lions locker room and highly spoken of by the coaching staff. The younger players looked up to him and his leadership. Jim Schwartz targeted him and KVB in free agency as high charecter role model players that the Lions desperately needed. Him, Delmas, and KVB played major roles in turning the Lions locker room culture around.
Nates getting old so teams aren't going to want to spend big money on him. I get that but I'm not sure Nate understands what his real NFL value is yet. Most likely he accepts a veteran minimum contract with incentives. I have a feeling Nate think his value is higher then that and hasn't realized that's about all any NFL team is going to give him. He was scheduled to make 6mil in DET this year. He offered to take a pay cut because he wanted to finish his carreer in DET. However Mayhew wanted to go into FA and get a younger alternative with big upside in Golden Tate. I believe the Lions also plan to draft a WR so that made Nate the odd man out. I wouldn't be shocked if Nate ended up back in DET when it's all said and done.
I view Nate like this --- he's not a number 1 WR. He struggles when double teamed or in heavy traffic. He's a perfect #2 WR and if man up in open space he will beat his defender most of the time. Hes very well rounded and can play the slot and Z WR positions and excel. He can be a very solid 1000yrd #2 WR
If your lucky enough to land him I think Miami fans will be happy you did.
