I really hope our guys just show some respect and keep it classy tomorrow, on 9/11, for the national anthem. There is always another sunday to protest, but tomorrow should not be one during the anthem imo.
Are you expecting the team/players to do something tomorrow?

They shouldn't because nobody gives a ****...The real protest right now is being waged by native Americans and that pipeline.
-
I think 9/11 is the perfect time to protest that sort of thing actually. There's nothing more American than speaking your mind. Not speaking your mind is the kind of thing those 9/11 terrorists wanted.

If they protest they will lose me as a fan. Yes, you have a right to be a douche and I have a right to not support the behavior. I will be at home standing and watching...

I'm not a fan of this. I believe there is a time and a place to protest... And a time and a place to honor our country, and those that have given and do give their lives to protect us. To me the National Anthem is very symbolic of our countries brave fight for independence.... Men literally gave their lives to keep the flag from falling.
You can protest racial injustice and not disrespect others in the process.Rick 1966, Boik14 and Shane Falco like this. -
While I'm still not sure if Colin Kaepernick (or anyone) kneeling/sitting during the National Anthem is the best way to protest (though I agree with their stance), they have the right.
And I think saying that it disrespects the military is a hollow argument, especially when there are a lot of military men, past and present, who are backing up Colin, and even more especially when there is stuff being done by our own government that's WAAAAAY more disrespectful, such as voting against the expansion of VA benefits.
(This will be my last thing said on here regarding this since PoFo was shut down by the mods, and I want to respect that).DolphinGreg, MikeHoncho, Puka-head and 1 other person like this. -
Let them protest, thats a right. Even if its for all the wrong reasons.

I think people should just stop making these threads. They will be closed.

Why would they be closed? The Dolphins held a players only meeting to discuss joining the Seahawks. It's now relevant.
That being said.. The Hawks standing and interlocking arms as they will be doing... Is symbolic and respectful at the same time.. And I commend them for their approach. -
Good for them for expressing what they believe.

I personally pay $299 a year to watch the Dolphins at every game. Not every game is broadcast in my area. So I'm paying them to entertain me with the game of football, not demonstrate their political beliefs. Some of that $299 is going to pay these guys salary. If they want to be politically active outside of the football venue then that's their right. Otherwise they're violating my rights of enjoying a thing that gets me away from the daily grind and politics.

Good for those who stand, kneel, or sit for what they believe in. They arent harming or disrespecting anyone, just simply choosing a stance in a pre-game national anthem in a respectful manner.

Seattle & Miami players are both planning a sitdown protest of the national anthem, on 9/11.
Many Miami fans are planning to boycott Miami games & merchandise in return.

They're violating your rights?!?!? That's the most absurd take on this whole issue and there have been some doozies!

My last take on this subject. If the players on our team decides to do what they think is right then fine. However, sponsors, fans who buy their jerseys and ect have every right to protest them for sitting.
If the players want to protest then that's fine. On your off time go join a peaceful march or rally about cop on civilian violence. (My opinion incoming) Just don't slap the veterans in the face. Yes, I understand that they fought for you to protest but let us the American people show the active duty/vets that we acknowledge their sacrifice by standing for that American flag. The U.S Military members don't have the right to disrespect this country or else they face UCMJ disciplinary actions.DolphinGreg likes this. -
I feel like people think its stupid to be outraged by unarmed people being shot to death by the police, but think its perfectly reasonable to outraged by someone sitting during our national jingle.

Just look at the FBI statistics. About 4%? of citizens are killed by police action. Now most of those killings are justified.
Now look at the other category and civilian on civilian killings are way higher. Where is the outrage on that? -
I can say this with everyone on here (hopefully) agreeing with me. Lets kick the Seahawks *** where we have PETA pissed off at us tomorrow.

The police are fighting crime. It's a difficult, dangerous job, and accidents do happen.
I'm on the side of USA, the US flag, and the police.

Ild like to see the police react by sitting down on their jobs too. Just dont show up when called and lets find out how much the police are appriciated when their pressence is missed. Everybody hates the police until they need them.

I don't understand why it's offensive what the Seahawks are doing, they're standing, not sitting or even kneeling.
If anything this is a shot at Kapernick by showing unity instead of division.DolphinGreg and Agua like this. -
Also, there is plenty of outrage over civilian on civilian killings and rapes. Wanna take a gander at which side downplays those things as attempts to take guns and pretending there's a rape culture?

Again, the fact that they're unarmed is almost always not known until AFTER the shooting. They're almost always shot because they act as if armed, OR ARE KNOWN TO OFTEN BE armed because of previous interactions with police. Also, if a person is actively assaulting an officer, it really doesn't matter if they're unarmed.
The police aren't walking around randomly shooting black people. There are also unarmed white people being shot, to.Rick 1966, Boik14 and Shane Falco like this.
