i personally want drew lock.
Trade parker, tannehill, and our number one pick to get up high enough in the draft. If needed.
I would love to hear other ideas?
Maybe free agent comes open?
Maybe there is a sleeper qb in the draft someone loves?
Maybe someone still has faith in tannehill?
Tannehill has all the physical tools. Just not a fast enough decision maker. Imo.

There are likely no long term answers in 2019. Its a really bad qb draft. Maybe as bad as 2013. And any veterans who are available are likely to be short term band aids.
If gase is back, then my preference is to roll with RT for another year, given that cutting him and signing another veteran would be more expensive.OCDolfan, Tin Indian and VManis like this. -

But lock is a top ten pick? Isnt he? -

Grier could be a guy even if he seems more like a college qb. Someone always takes a chance on the guy with guady numbers in a defenseless conference.
Also Finley and Jones. I’d like Finley or jones in the 3rd if possible but none of these guys are top ten pick material IMO. Didn’t even love the class last year but much better than the 2019 crop. -

Tannehill is our QB next year too. Guaranteed.

If Gase remain there is no way he goes with anyone but Tannehill. He will be on the hot seat and rookie QB probably won’t win him an extension.

I think Herbert will come out once he realizes he’s a lock to be the 1st QB taken, you wanna move up high enough to get him, you need the Dolphins to lose out, the higher they pick the less they have to give up to move up. Teams with the #1 pick don’t want to move down too far if they agree to a deal. We lose out good chance we’re picking 5 or 6. -
If he comes out, I would like Tua Tagovailoa. He seems like a leader on the field and he is pretty accurate. He also has the ability to extend plays with his feet. The downside is he is 6'1. However, he is 212 lbs., so he is built pretty solid.

I think that last year, Lock would have been a late first round, or even a second round pick. Probably the 5th best one in the draft, a step above Mason Rudolph. I don't like a lot of what I've seen from him.
I'm a WVU fan and have seen nearly every game that Grier has played. He's not an elite prospect, and he'll be 24 as a rookie. Limited skills and upside. Best case, he develops into a mid tier starter in a few years. His peak is several steps below Tannehill's.texanphinatic, resnor and danmarino like this. -
No, he's not due $51 mil over the next 2 years...
And a few teams would love to have RT as long as he's healthy. I'm not sure what they'd give for him, but if the Dolphins tried to trade him they would find suitors.Puka-head, Dol-Fan Dupree, resnor and 1 other person like this. -
If he's healthy, then there are certainly teams that would trade something for him as a short term fix to their problems, with the hope that he could be more. -

Tua isn't draft eligible until 2020 iirc. Haskins can come out this year but with only one year as a starter he could be tougher to project. The Michigan game turned heads though.
There is a lot of uncertainty and lack of top end prospects ar QB this year. I think we picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue.mbsinmisc, Tin Indian and Redwine4all like this. -
Okay, guys here is a bit of real talk for you guys.
Cutting Tannehill does not seem to be a viable option. Essentially, we would be paying him $13 mil to not play football for us. Although we are paying Suh quite a bit to not play for us, we can't get in the habit of doing this. If we wind up drafting a QB, it appears that Tannehill would be our best option as a stop gap guy. I feel like Tannehill is comparable to most of the guys that would be available via free agency, and signing one of those guys might actually wind up being more expensive.
The only way that Tannehill is cut is if we were to acquire a veteran starter with a contract in place. Essentially, this would be the trade for Derek Carr scenario.
Trading Tannehill would be a viable option, but it really depends on whether a market for him blossoms. At this moment, it is anyone's guess. Bridgewater will be the first domino to fall. You will then have Tyrod Taylor, Fitzmagic, Josh McCown, and possibly Winston, Flacco, and Dalton as other free agents that would not cost draft compensation or could be obtained for reasonable draft compensation.
Honestly, if a team is planning on drafting a QB, and they need a QB for just a season or left, Fitzmagic and McCown would honestly be fine. Is it possible that a team like the Jags or Broncos could view Tannehill as a viable long term option, sure.
I just want to let you know that there is a pretty good chance that Tannehill will be on the team next year but not be the future.
This transitions us to the distinct possibility of drafting a rookie while keeping Tannehill. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this rookie class is not great. I have not really gotten into my scouting yet, but as of this point, I don't see a guy that I would be willing to parlay a bunch of draft picks up to get. This naturally leads us to the question, "If there isn't a guy that you feel so passionately about that you would be willing to trade up for, should you even draft him in the first place?" In my mind, that is a fair point. Needless to say, I think we do wind up drafting a weaker early QB. With that concession in place, I think having an established veteran (Tannehill) in place would be prudent as this rookie might not be ready to start week one.Irishman, Bumrush, Tin Indian and 1 other person like this. -

If that were the case, there is always the chance that a team's starter could get hurt in season, and we could swing a deal at a later time. The Eagles got quite the premium for Sam Bradford a few years back. -

So we get tannehill to take a paycut since he sucks. And draft a rookie.
I know i keep hearing there is no good qb to draft next year? I say bs.
Has there even been a year where a good qb didnt get drafted? -

Check out 2013 or 2007 for example.
Still, the draft is a crapshoot and hard to determine beforehand which QB's will succeed and which won't so I'd still draft a QB high. Have to gamble a bit or you'll be waiting forever!Tin Indian and like this. -
There's some good OL talent in this draft, and others too. I think RT17 remains the QB, we strengthen other areas and then we see about a QB for 2020.

One other thing, that I've suggested before: If you want a QB in the 2020 draft, trade away your 2019 first rounder for a 2020 first and change. Stock up, so you can make a trade up to the first or second pick.
