It could be a brilliant move. I have this sneaking suspicion that the Tebow doubters will all be eating sh** before too long. So a pro team will makle him pass 1st, run 2nd, and use a classic 7 step drop. Big deal. And our anemic offense- I would imagine that Bellichick would be pissed and concerned if we drafted Tebow to run the wildcat for us.

 

Tebow doesn't have a strong enough or accurate enough arm to be a drop back passer IMO and has bad mechanics.

Tebow is a great athlete but will not fit in with the greater scheme of this team.
The Wildcat was used to hide our problems on offense.With smart draft picks,another year under our belt,and a few descent free agent pick ups.I hope we won't NEED too much of the Wildcat next year.

 

There's no way you take him on the first day. I agree it would be hard to find an active roster spot for him on gameday. I'm not sure there's any other position he could play besides QB. He's too slow probably to be a receiver.

 

The wildcat is fun, I don't think they should abandon it even after they shore up the offensive line and all that. Not completely anyway.

 

Why do people think can run the wildcat? He will not run over defenses in the NFL nor is he fast enough to bounce it outside. Which is the point... Power running football.

And if he throws it with regularity it, it's not a WC. It's shotgun with another QB on the field who is useless.

Drafting Tebow is a waste of valuable draft picks we need to rebuild this team into contenders. We have holes to fill all over.

Want to run the WC better? Draft lineman who can actually block.

 

He can play multiple positions. More teams are using players at all different positons in all facets of the game. Baltimore used a tight end as a pass rushing linebacker last week.

 

Mike Vick may be a good example to look at before saying - big deal. Or Vince Young maybe.

 

It may have something to do with him being one of the greatest college players ever.

 

Pat White would be the better option IMO. He could probably be had in round 4. and thus far is the better QB. Now it depends on if Miami will continue to run the wildcat, will they draft with this in mind? If they do then I don't see Miami taking a WR at all but a TE and possibly Pat White.

Chase Coffman would be perfect for Miami, he would be our Dallas Clark as a H-Back. If we were to draft White, and Coffman there would be alot of possibility's added tot he Wildcat.

 

I don't think he's a guy that should be targeted by us at all. We don't need a Quarterback on this team because we already have our starter and our guy in the waiting. I don't understand why we would spend a first day pick on a guy that we use a play maybe five times a game. I have a hard time seeing him stay healthy at the next level with his upright running. You can attempt to move him to tight end but he hasn't ran routes nor has he blocked. You can attempt to move him to FB but your asking him pass pro and run block, which is something he hasn't done again. In the end, I think his future will come down to the Quarterback position and he needs a lot of work there as well. He's inconsistent with his accuracy, he has a long windup, his mechanics fall apart once he's pressured - we saw some of that in the Oklahoma game - and he's taken exactly one snap under center from what I know. If I was a GM, which I'm not, I wouldn't spend a first day draft pick on him, especially since the issues he has and that he would be involved in very few plays.

I felt the same way last year,,,but the guy as much as the man love from announcers makes me sick, is a very unique individual and player. He has made huge strides as a passer now I would rank him average......he also has an above average arm...his footwork and mechanics are terrible, especially when pressured. He does bring the ability to make play outside the pocket. It really comes down to how far you think he will develop...and with his personality and work ethic I would not bet against the guy......Been there, done that....by no means do I think he is a great prospect he is definetly a gamble and a luxury pick. Whatever GM picks him will have to be very secure in his job and a team that is solid...if they pick him higher than mid 3rd. I just cannot discount this guy as much as I am sick of all the hype.

 

Tim should walk into Urban's office and tell him he wants to take some snaps behind center this year, it's time to develope that skill next.

 

IMHO...teams will catch up with the wildcat quickly...it was great for this team this year...it took a lot of pressure of a team that was over matched on the lines...as those lines talent level improves especially inside, I think you see less and less of the wildcat.

 

I really don't like Tim Tebow at all, but I think he could run the Wildcat. I agree that Tebow wouldn't be a very productive every game starting Q.B. for teams, but I think Tebow could definitely be a game changer in the wildcat formation.

 

To add to what I said, which was previously mentioned by a Gators fan here (I can't recall who), football is not his top priority. And some want to invest a day one pick in that? Not me.

 

Yeah, I wouldn't want to draft Tebow on the first day, but I wouldn't be really upset if we took him in the 3rd or 4th round.

 

Urban would probably tell him to go declare if he wanted to take snaps behind center. Seriously though, I don't have as much issues with him playing out of the gun only as I have with his accuracy, mechanics, footwork, ability to deal with pressure and ability to make all the throws. Harrell, for instance, is a guy playing out of the gun as well and he has good footwork, decent accuracy, is able to make a lot more throws than many people give him credit for and deals with pressure rather well. Sure, the gun is a problem but at least I only need to correct one issue with him. With Tebow, you have to correct a lot.

I agree Ven. Harrell is underrated.

 

I think with Harrell a lot of people see the spread and don't bother to look for anything else. It so neatly explains his completion percentage, his high efficiency, his stunning production ... it's the spread, baby. But if you actually bother to look a bit more closely, you see a very talented guy who just happens to play the spread, not a guy who's made by the spread. Harrell is no Bradford but he's certainly no worse prospect than Beck or Kolb were.

 

I think this aswell. I believe the more pieces we put on the O-Line the less we will use it. The Wildcat formation was to compensate for not having the right personnel.

We will still use it but maybe 3-5 times a game depending on the success

What exactly would he do in the WC that would be game changing? THE NFL will crush him if he tries to run.

The Patriots spent a second round pick for what amounts to a specialist Welker .Does he have the prototypical body of a wide receiver ? Some people mistook him for the waterboy.

He is not even fast but he is a football player.

I can see them going for Tebow and we can reflect on his poor mechanics as he beats us time and time again.

Jeff George had great mechanics but was he a great NFL QB ? There are dozens of other cases of cannon arm and quick release QBs who failed.They were not football players

IMO Tebow has the intangibles it takes to be succesful NFL player.You wont be able to compare him to anyone .He will make his own mark .He is a football player

So I would be careful with the stereotypes.It was only last year that the pundits were saying that Jake Long was not a LT.

I see him as a Crash Jensen type on an NFL team. I think he could be a good special teamer and give depth at every position on offense except the O line. What's not to like about that? Still, a first or second? Pass. A third? Yeah I could see that. It's in his best interest to return to Florida next year and convince Urban to let him throw it more, at least against the weaker teams.

 

Mel Kiper is saying that Tebow is being looked at as an HBack and would fall most likely be taken in the third round if he comes out this year (which i doubt he will). It is also believe that he will still be looked at as an HBack next year if he plays his senior year and will still carry a round 3 grade.

 

He's almost 6' 3" and 238 pounds. Why would he be any deader than Ronnie or Ricky? Though why he would try to run over Ray Lewis in the first place I don't know.

I think you can just watch the throws he makes and doesnt make and know all you need to know about his future as an NFL Qb, someone within the first three rounds would take a shot at him Im sure.
