One of them is gone now, one of them is a third stringer, and a third is about to get beat out by his backup. I think it's time to swap out the sig

no more excuses...
to tell me:
the entire team conspired to ruin his day
fades in the light & evidence of the truth
Chad Henne better step up immediately
& Sparano better leave him in the game
during the first halves of the preseason
overall: the game w/ an embarrassment
having said that
Henne w/ the greatest disappointment... -
I know it was ugly, but I am not going to worry about one stupid pre-season game in the rain. We'll be sitting next to each other at the super bowl. RELAX!

C'mon man (in my best Keyshawn impression)...it's the first preseason game in a quagmire field. He played pretty well. Think about it, 8/11, 69 yrds looks pretty impressive for 1/4 game (had Marshall and Hartline caught those three drops)...
Way too early to dump on anyone but Stephen Ross for allowing that field to be that bad in the rain....DenverDolfan, HULKFish, kthurmus23 and 4 others like this. -

The second I saw that downpour in the first pre-season game I was hoping our key starters wouldn't even step onto the field. I didn't want preseason rust and that rain to combine for any torn up knees.
I'm certainly not worried about any aspect of what happened in this game.dolfan7171, FanMarino, Trowa and 6 others like this. -
it w/ a mistake to ordain
Chad Henne as Franchise QB
too early, too much to prove
competition is the elixir of successgafinfan likes this. -
about that:
1) it rained on both teams
football is played in the rain
Tampa w/ no-name WR's
& an inferior offensive line
passed the ball successfully
think about it...
2) two badly thrown passes w/ dropped only one w/ on the money
it is what it is...
3) no more excuses, time to play footballgafinfan, late again and miamiron like this. -
Ouch.

Those passes were not badly thrown, when a ball goes straight through a WRs hands it is that WR's fault.HULKFish, Ronnie Bass and Trowa like this.

henne w/over throwing, under throwing, missing the open receiver. he played like a nervous rookie
-
There is no need to worry about anyone but Pat White. Giving Thiggy that much playing time and letting White just essentially take a knee does not augur well for Pat -- unless we're showcasing Thiggy for a trade.

Yah, dam him for throwing that pass right into Marshalls hands for a big gain, oh wait?

wouldn't be too fast to get rid a any QB @ this point

time for the IceMan to step up or we step back -
Burn Marshall's cool-looking gloves, retire/burn the #19 Jersey, and torch that God-forsaken bubble (ship the ashes to Nick Saban's home in Bama).padre31 and Crappy Tipper like this.

Usually I agree with your posts, but you are way off base on this one. How can you say he was the greatest disappointment? Marshall dropped two perfectly thrown balls that hit him right in the hands, Henne threw another one to Hartline, right in the only spot that only Hartline could have caught that ball and he dropped it. If the WR's do their jobs and catch those balls, Henne goes 8-11 on the day, with at least an additional 30-40 yards probably.
Come on, people need to relax. Preseason week 1 Sure the offense didnt look incredible, but they never do at this time.Phinatic425, Two Tacos, Fin Fan 4 Life and 7 others like this. -
Sorry, but I didn't see ANY nervousness in him. I actually saw him wink at Fasano (I think it was) like he IS the man in charge out there. Honestly, the only nervousness I see is in you.... and it's unwarranted.
IMO you're reading way too much into what your eyes saw last night. This wasn't a playoff game. No one wants to risk injury in that friggin slop. I don't think we chalked the 1st half up to anything more than filling time in order to give the Oline (Jerry) a chance to show what they (he) can do.
Henne IS our franchise QB. He does NOT need any more competition. He has enough competition within his own self.
that quote applied when he was a rookie; it's meaningless now and can actually be detrimental to a player who feels they've worked their a$$ off to be the leader of the team. All you're doing is sending out a message that you lack confidence in him.... horrible approach no offense. Not to mention your "so called" competition would take away reps from your 1st string QB.... quick way to kill morale and leave an offense not knowing who to believe in as their leader.Frumundah Finnatic, Trowa, resnor and 1 other person like this. -
how about
we ditch excuses & play ball
can't get around it, spin it as you will
w/another preseason coming up
got to get it right before the opener
no more excuses...
any body watch the Ravens
play Carolina in the rain?
think about it... -

my last post on this thread
Henne was a disappointment
not just the way I saw it
many people are saying, writing
& reporting it that way
we need this guy to step up
hopefully, next game...
having said that
no more excuses... -
It's hard to gather much from last night seeing as it was raining, they spent the whole time in the mud and there really weren't very many plays for the first team offense. No need to panic yet but all in all it is a little disconcerting. They pretty much looked like the same Phins that were on the field last year which isn't going to be good enough. Defense on the other hand looks much better and it looks like we have some decent depth on both sides of the ball.
With the new defense, if Ronnie Brown stays healthy and Marshall gets his groove on we should be in great shape...as long as it isn't raining :lol:the 23rd likes this. -
Are you serious? So you want to start a debate (just like the idiots in the media) about our quarterback, then leave, because people are disagreeing with you??? Come on bro, relax. Preseason week 1.
Obviously you have some sort of issue with Henne. But, you've yet to say what that is? You just rant on and on about no more excuses. Nobody is making any excuses.
Its week 1, preseason. There was nothing wrong with his passes, they just weren't caught by WR's that let them bounce off their hands. It happens, it doesnt mean the QB is worthless.
Again, those aren't excuses, those are the facts, and the reality in the situation.
Take a step back, take a deep breath. It's going to be ok. Stop being so damn negative about this team, and its QB after one pre-season game.
If you really want something to complain about, how about the lackluster play of your beloved OL. False start after false start, a ridiculous holding call on Carey that killed our first drive. That is the real major disappointment of this game. -
Ugghh this is why I hate the main forum on FinHeaven. Wait...this isn't FinHeaven? Oh, I would've guessed it was with this thread.

If we don't drop three passes he's 8/11 on the night. One of them was kinda tough. The other two hit them right in the hands. Minimum 7/11. Would have been first downs. How are those remotely his fault? Another pass came out of the mud like a duck.
It was a sloppy game. But I think this is a little too early. Henne got what, three series of muddy, vanilla football? One of which was killed by penalty. Two Tacos, Frumundah Finnatic, ToddsPhins and 2 others like this. -
I agree about no excuses...I am sick to death of them. I just don't know how much better Henne could have thrown the ball to Marshall. If Marshall catches those two passes, Henne's numbers look way different.
I think he needs to improve, but I think he is our franchise QB. Hes a tough, talented kid that needs others around him to play well. In two years, he will be on a different level, but right now, his teammates cannot let him down the way BM did last night. -
I just want to say that Channing Crowder absolutely ANNIHILATES the FB on the first play by TB.

That's right, last season we played pretty much the same game against the Jags, massive downpour, 12-9 game.
The game that really sent up warning flags was gm #3 vs the Bucs, we were coming off of a 27-17 win vs the Panthers and the team just fell flat on it's face vs the Bucs.

the AFC-East is brutal this year -
I blame it on the "curse of the Marlins" in the 1st quarter.
Honestly,I think that after the rain started to come down like it did,Sparano or Henning changed up to a very vanilla offense as to not get anyone hurt.I do believe this. There was not one play with Henne on the field that would indicate to me that we were actually scouting certain Buc players to go after.
It looked more like an evaluation for film purposes to see where we are at.
What else were they to do? They looked like sticks in the mud for a reason.MikeHoncho likes this. -
