Has to be very, very disappointing for Sony that the PS3 did that badly.
I wonder what this does game developers decisions for next year? I mean they did sell over 450K but when you stack that against 770K for the 360....
I was really hopping this race would be closer so as to push both companies. -
Call of Scripted Events 4 making #1 while The Orange Box being nowhere on that list depresses me.

What I find strange is that the PS2 is still selling above the PS3 and competing with the next generation systems. The PS2 is helping keep Sony's heads above water, which is amzing considering the PS2 is 8 years old now (almost). Thanks for starting this post I've missed it.

Team Fortress 2 for me, please. -

As far as WW2 games go, give me Brothers in Arms. -
Scripted sequence which yea takes work as far as animating but much less to test and debug and you can control what the player is doing to stop problems and you can create events that would be hard to accomplish in single player because you have no idea how a person would act in that area. Also environment detail doesn't need to be as good on say a helicopter flight because player won't notice small things where if you are actually walking through everything has to be half-way accurate to immerse the player. Say you wanted a specific scene to be seen you would have to depend on the player looking at the right place at right time and thats hard to determine.
COD4 is modern so not sure what you ww2 statement had to do with much. Yea I agree i like BIA more than cod as far as ww2 because good strategy work in it I love that but I am also glad cod was moving on. Now it seems the COD team wants to go back to ww2 and work on the pacific theater which I hate because ww2 games are burned out. Also you can bet BIA will be really linear as well and you wont get to make your choices you want. -
Sony's really off to a rough start but it's kind of their fault for gambling with Blu-Ray. Though with Warner Bros recent announcement and MGS4/GTA/Final Fantasy around the corner, things could probably be looking up. I'm not surprised by COD4's performance. Quality story backed up with good multiplayer.
On scripted COD4, I can get 50 fps easily on 1920 by 1200 resolution. With Crysis, I'll be lucky to get 10 at that resolution with same high quality.Last edited: Jan 4, 2008 -

Unfortunately the PS3 right now doesn't have anything the 360 doesn't. Let's not forget the 360 is marketed everywhere (movies, etc). It will pick up, besides..Blu Ray is (I think) going to eventually win the format war, not to mention it's 10x better for gaming.

First of all, the XBOX 360 has been out longer than the PS3. Second the PS3 matched the XBOX 360 sales for their FIRST YEAR. Finally in November sales of ps3 have increased by over 300% and should keep increasing as more and more games come out. You really think the XBOX 360 was without its issues its first year and even now?

Aside from Final Fantasy 13 does PS3 have anything that 360 doesnt?

I have PS2 and thinking about upgrading...do I go PS3 or 360? -

I would honestly buy both consoles. Both have great games, though I will say I think the 360 has peaked with Halo 3's release.BigDogsHunt likes this. -

Edit: Nvm. That's 360.Last edited: Jan 6, 2008 -
Alright, alright, alright! I wasn't trying to be comprehensive, guys. Yeesh!

That said, owning both consoles has been a joy for me (though if it weren't for a bit of luck, I wouldn't be able to say so). My recommendation would be to buy one console first, play around with it, wait for the other console's price to drop and then get that. I did that with the last generation. -

I'll probably buy a PS3 in the next round of cuts, but as a Blu-Ray player. Never been an MGS or FF fan.
I hope to hear a release date for Alan Wake for the 360 soon. Sounds excellent. -

Sony sells 1.2 million consoles over the holidays. Numbers should go up as more exclusives come out.

Turok going to be the same on PS3 as 360. Development issues overblown. Hopefully Gabe Newell reads this before *****ing and whining further. -
