Interesting, Greg C was really good at being the possesion Wr, Bess was as good as Lee Evans or Craig Jennings statistically speaking.

I still want Kenny Britt, we need a another WR.

I couldn't disagree more with the assessment that we don't need a WR.
1. Camarillo is coming off major knee surgery.
2. Ginn has shown no signs of being consistent.
3. Bess...I got no problems with Bess. I love the guy.
4. We have no depth. I don't trust those three guys to stay healthy.
5. James London is a project who has proven nothing on the NFL level.
6. Ernest Wilford is a punchline.
Draft a WR this year. By the time Henne is starting (assuming he unseats Pennington in 2010), the guy we draft will be in his second year.
I don't know if we take a WR at #25, but we gotta address this position. Did anyone watch the Baltimore game!!?!???!?Striking, TheMageGandalf, The G Man and 1 other person like this. -

1. Greg C is expected back and healthy in Traning Camp.
2. Whomever we draft won't have shown consistency either but Ginn is better then we think as he has not approached his ceiling.
3. Wilford more then likely is not going anywhere...too much money invested in his presence on the roster
4. D Bess could start opposite of Ted Ginn if Greg C is not healthy.
5. Brandon London did make some plays later in the season, he was a in season acquisition.
As for the Ravens game, they got cute with the roster and only carried 3 Wr's and it bit us.like2god likes this. -
The only thing I'll add is I don't think we have a true #1 WR. Don't get me wrong, it's a good group. But none are elite. And, if we are fortunate enough to land an elite WR either in the draft (Nicks?), or via a trade (Boldin), it will make the whole group better. Bottom line...we need the kind of player opposing defenses will not only have to double team, but they'll have to game plan for.
Man, I wish I knew how to put an image in a post. I copied gish's sig of Nicks and was gonna add it to this post basically saying something like "we need this guy!" Oh well, imagine an awesome pic of Nicks already wearing a Fins uni right about here. -

TOUCHDOWN Gardenhead! Excellent post:knucks: -
Gotta love D Bess playing with that injury in the second half though, that man is money.
I thought Jason London wrote "White Fang"?:tongue2: -

And fixing the Oline will solves many of the inside the 10yd line woes with RW and Ronnie we should be able to find the endzone more this season. -
We need a big receiver all of wr's are small and quick. We have to pick up a WR that can replace Haynos to get the fade routes when we're 4th and 1 inside the 5.
-
Yes, we need a #1 WR badly.
-
1. We couldn't dominate the line of scrimmage with our OL vs. a top notch DL. If you can run down a team's throat with the rush, every WR doubles in effectiveness and we consistently score points while the D can't pin their ears back knowing that you're only hope for success is through the air. Why do you think Ed Reed was SO keyed in on Pennington? He KNEW what was coming b/c he KNEW we couldn't budge their front 7.
2. We couldn't get a pass rush with front 7 vs. top notch OL. If you can get to a team's QB consistently, you don't get beat by a rookie QB that goes 7 for 21 safely; you pick him three tiimes and put the nail in the coffin.
That's it. When we faced teams of lesser quality OL and/or DL, we beat them with lowly undrafted free agent WRs. Would I LIKE a high end WR? You bet'ya. But I would LOVE to be able to get to the opposing team's QB and have a dominating OL because THAT is what will lead us to the next level of playoffs. It's just that simple I'm afraid. -
the bottom line is that you can write a convincing articles that our WR's are good, but you can't ever write one about our CB's being good! case closed. With the 25th pick the Miami Dolphins select CB.........

We can't just overlook how deeply we are into Ernest Wilford financially I doubt we cut him, so he will get a shot to play.
Heck. we've waited 4 training camps on Jason Allen, what's a single year for Wilford...;) -
Im just thinking.
If we draft/trade potential #1 or even #2 WR it will leave somebody out of loop. Ginn and the new guy start at 1 and 2, and Bess at slot. Unless Greg will start at slot and Bess will came in at 4+ wide?
Bess and GC are great possession guys...we are lucky to have two great ones -
-
I forgot.
GC is still a beast. We know that. He turned 26 two days ago (according to wiki) So he is still very young, and I think will be a great mentor, to a very smiliar by stlye Bess.padre31 likes this. -
Maybe Wilford is this year's Joey Porter? Before last season Joey Porter's name was "Bust" and he turned it around.TiP54 likes this. -
What really makes or brakes our wide outs is the play of TG.
IF he blossom or just has a SOLID season, it will benefit greatly. Becuase i really think that we are 1 reciever away. We have two GREAT possesion guys, we got TG who at very least can be a okay #2 (not for the money he is getting now tho) So addition of a good reciever will shoot us from "sub par" core to a very least "above average"
But again, many ifs. TG has to preform on high level, and the new guy, whoever it might be, has to be decent.
And Wilford..Put it this way, to me, he is non existant. Everything we get out of him, i see as a bonus.
HOPING im wrong on that one.
About Murphy.
I was very, very dissapointed in him as well...But did not give up on him. From what i understand he was very, very raw, and showed up fat in camp. Now the reports are positive, and lets not forget that he has spent a year in the weight room. Come draft day, we will see how much does our FO believe in him. If we pick a guard fairly early, it is bad news for him -
To me, they look at Wilford like he conned them and they are going to ride him to get our monies worth out of him.
And Ginn emerging as a playmaker would take heat off everyone, he can do it, and IMO we will know in Traning Camp as his tools are off the charts, if he is just leaving all our Cb's in the dust we'll know.
As for Murphy...we made a playoff run with two street free agent Guards, if Murphy had any game he would have seen the field last season so I wouldn't be surprised if he is not permenant resident on the practice squad this season.
