FinSaneforum_veteranOPLook like absolute garbage. Granted the run blocking was poor but I didn't see anything special about any of our backs. Foster had his moments but it's the pre-season. He's also the most seasoned of the backs we have, so of course he'll have a few good looks. But I wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket.
Ajayi looks hesistant and pedestrian. He too is a ticking time bomb with that knee. Sorry, I know he's been cleared but it's always going to be on the back of your mind, ala Maurice Clarette. Also for most players, once you hurt your knee like that, you're never going to be able to go full speed, 100% effort because you're aware of your now fragile parts that you take extra caution to not get hurt. I just don't ever see him breaking out as anything than an ordinary back, as best case scenario.
Pead could be something but he didn't have much opportunity tonight and didn't show much when he did. If he's our hope then we're in trouble, as he is sort of a reclamation project.
Drake right now is like a neat shiny car you can't drive because the it has chronic problems with its starter. Already has injury history, like most of our backs. Don't expect much from him either, at least not this season.
D. Williams and D. Thomas we know these guys well enough to just consider them JAGs. One of them will probably make the team anyway due to special teams and injury insurance.
I really miss Lamar Miller.

Arian Foster looks like he'll be a great pass-catching RB. That open-field stiff arm was great.
But so far this preseason, he hasn't shown that he can still hammer out 100 yds/game between the tackles.
Redwine4allforum_veteranThe good news...I think we are going to pick early in the draft next year, and there are going to be some incredible backs available to us, even if we wait til the second round. We need pass rushers, CBs, and RBs on this team, no doubt.
Unlucky 13subscriberIts honestly hard to tell how good or bad the RBs are, because the OL's run blocking has been horrible all preseason. I'm extremely thankful that they pass blocked so well last night, but there were multiple defenders five yards deep in the backfield tacking our guys on run plays multiple times. On one play, Ajayi broke three tackles on a very impressive one yard gain.

No kidding. All 3 of the RBs that have taken snaps behind that line have fewer than 2.4 ypc. The run blocking has been unworkable, just downright attrocious.

The pass blocking has gotten so much better and I appreciate the time and effort these guys put in to improve.
I think the run blocking will come but it will take time.

he is not back 100, he said he had some rust, but he sure looks good at times. I would not want him to carry the total load

I thought the same thing, was thinking wow he broke 3 tackles he should have had a much longer run :)

I think this will be the way we start the season until someone proves they deserve a bigger role.

I noticed the announcers last night, made a comment about us having 4 tackles on the line. Tackles are used to misdirecting their opponent, not bull rushing them backward. This is one of the problems we will have trying to run the ball. We really need to aquire a couple stud OGs next season who can make a hole or when other teams cut some on Tuesday.
ExplosionsInDaSkyforum_veteranI'm disappointed that we haven't seen any of Kenyon Drake yet. I had high hopes for him as a situational back. I hope he gets some looks in the final preseason game. As for our running back core, I think Foster is going to get the job. I don't think he'll get necessarily 20+ carries a game, but he's going to be our most productive back. I just hope he can stay healthy for an entire season. Who knows, maybe he does for us what Chris Johnson did for the Cardinals last year (minus the late season injury).

The blocking has been terrible. Half the time they keep having Dallas Thomas in at LG or RG and he's getting blown up, the other half the time they have Anthony Steen at C and he's getting blown up.

I think center is the hardest position to transition.

I didn't watch much of Vic Beasley during his rookie year, but as a Clemson alum/fan I had my doubts about him coming out. Clemson just isn't pass rusher U these days. I think Shaq Lawson can be special, but even as a Clemson supporter, I think their D-linemen often get over-rated during draft time.
Too many busts: Gaines Adams, Phillip Merling, Jarvis Jenkins, Da'Quan Bowers, Andre Branch. And those are all 1st and 2nd round picks.
Vic Beasley was #8 overall last year. Shaq Lawson went #19 this year. Dodd went 33rd.
On the other hand, Atlanta also drafted Clemson DT Grady Jarrett who always struck me as a disruptive guy. For a 5th round pick, he could end up a steal.

From what I saw when I went back and watched the first half against Atlanta, Ajayi actually did have some opportunities where he could've broken off a little more. His vision is really suspect from what I can see. He's just doesn't have the instincts of a reliable North-South runner. If he doesn't get better, he's not going to be very impressive this year. The blocking isn't doing anything for any of the RBs but just like when we saw Knowshon Moreno light it up before getting injured, a RB that knows how to get skinny and hit the hole can make a bad line look pretty decent. Right now Ajayi is just not that RB.
I would absolutely love to see us get Leonard Furnette or Elijah Hood in the draft...

I would prefer Dalvin Cook, but the reality is the Dolphins have too many needs on defense to draft one of the top backs in the early rounds of next years draft. They should have tried harder to sign Miller, who is far better than any back they now have on their roster.
They really don't have a reliable RB is on their roster at this time because they all seem to be injury prone. Foster is probably their best RB and it has been a few years since he has been able to last an entire year without suffering a season ending injury.
Hopefully Drake can find a way to avoid injury and get back on the field but based on his injury history at Alabama and since he has been with the Dolphins, this might prove to be another wasted pick.

Indeed.
I hear people trying to blame one or two guys, they're not watching the same games I'm watching. The whole line, plus Cameron, have been poor.
