It's really amazing how the numbers truly back up what is seen on the field. We've seen the criticisms of Damontre Moore's ability to speed rush the passer from the outside, and the numbers show that he did in fact get more of his sacks two ways: From going inside, and from getting coverage sacks.
Mingo's numbers show why he is a truly frustrating player to grade. You see the burst. You see the ability to bull rush. You see the ability to twist inside. You just don't see the ability to finish.
With Dion Jordan, the film shows that he is a one trick pony as a pass rusher, and the numbers bear this out.
On film, the most complete pass rusher in this draft is Tank Carridine, and the numbers show this.

Moore certainly let me down at the combine, but I still like him. Imo he can in fact bend the arc quite well, the problem is the same as Jordan and specificall Ansah, getting stonewalled by OTs and peeling off to make plays in chase mode instead of beating OTs and getting to QBs or RBs. But he does make plays, the film and his stats show that. The 12 reps was just awful and I was hoping that his 40 time would show Moore, a smooth athlete, actually being faster than he looks because he doesn't look like the most explosive DE- regardless I still like him as an edge rusher- the film is the film, and the stats are the stats- he produced.
I revisited Margus Hunt- 6-8, just about 280 lbs, 4.60 40, 38 reps on the bench- that's combine stuff, but to me, when I revisited the film, I can see it- I can see this guy getting way better with more experience. Even when Joeckel was taking it to him against Texas A&M- Hunt was just outclassed and outplayed but the talent is there. He has every tool and imo he is a far superior pass rusher over other big DEs like Gholston and Ansah. I have no doubt that Hunt has every tool needed to bring the heat as a pass rusher and to be a solid run defender- size, speed, quicks, strength and signs of knowing how to use leverage. The age thing bothers me, if I saw correctly he'll be 26 when the regular season starts- not good. But as a player- this guy could be the real deal imo, and outstanding all around DE and one heck of a pass rusher. -
And I have a natural mistrust of FSU dlinemen, just for whatever reason it seems like they get to the pros and mostly disappoint. -
Interesting to see that Mel Kiper has taken Moore off his big board completely. He's not a first round pick to me so that's a good decision. No surprise that Carradine's stock is in the ascendency. Best pass rusher in the draft.

Damontre Moore’s number is disappointing. On average it took him 4.51 seconds to get to the QB and 44.4% of his sacks were from coverage. For a pass-rushing specialist, he wasn’t near the numbers of any other prospects.
That does not make him more interesting to me. I'm looking for explosiveness here, not some guy who is going to get coverage sacks.ToddPhin likes this. -
IMO he seems like a mid-round situational rusher/backup weakside end, and I would put his upside behind Olivier Vernon's TBH.
This is a case of the goddam SEC brand building up a player more than he deserved by having the media & analysts superficially believing that b/c Moore's stats look great on paper in the SEC then he must be a top 10 pick, am I right.rafael likes this.
