Welker does not deserve that kind of contract. He's a very good receiver, he's not elite. No GM in this league would pick Welker instead of any of the elite WRs. not even sure how many would take Welker over Bowe as their #1 WR. Whereas Gronk is elite, has very little competition, maybe Jimmy Graham. If Gates was healthy, he'd be the 3rd. of course Gonzo still lingering in that class. There's just not as big a market for a Welker IMO.

If a TE's only job was to catch passes, you could maybe make that argument, although I'd still disagree. But Gronk is just on an entirely different level when you account for his elite blocking skills.ToddPhin likes this.
